The number of third generation Glock clones is astounding. Some companies are based solely on taking proven designs and finding ways of making them more appealing to their audiences. For example, Shadow Systems has created their own versions of Glock pistols, but they offer customers all of the upgrades that they were going to do anyway, but straight from the manufacturer. My wife recently bought the DR920 and loves it. I, on the other hand, prefer a more hands-on approach. I decided to put together a parts build G19 clone, entirely from non-Glock parts, and put it up against one from the factory.

This article ties in with a previous Armorer’s Bench article that covered some different types of bluing as well as the recent blunderbuss build articles. This one should cap off that last one.

The Glock 43X and 48 have been some of the most popular carry guns as of late, often considered some of the best options on the market among other carry pistols of the same class like the SIG P365, Springfield Hellcat, and the S&W Shield Plus. Pretty much all of these handguns, save for the latest iteration of the SIG P365, are nice and compact, and have a higher capacity than previous generations of carry pistols, but somewhat suffer in the recoil department simply because of the reduced weight. Compensators are one way to improve the recoil characteristics without really sacrificing much in the concealment department and that’s why Backup Tactical is proud to introduce their newest Perfect Fit PROComp, this time for the Glcok 43X and Glock 48.

While being a film from a time before “The Rock” really became “The Rock”, the movie The Rundown seems to have been largely forgotten however I think it’s a movie with some pretty interesting firearms and firearm manipulation. I’m not aware of any other film where the protagonist tears up a town of henchmen with akimbo pump-action shotguns.

We are back again with the  Traditions Blunderbuss Muzzle Loader Kit and this time we are finishing up the stock. Stock finishing is very basic and similar to most other woodworking processes. Thank goodness woodworking is pretty forgiving because if it was not, this whole procedure would be less enjoyable.

A new shotgun magazine extension may not sound like something newsworthy, however, Briley Manufacturing’s new HONEYCOMB extensions have a rather unusual design – they are skeletonized! Now, of course, dirt and debris will easily find their way into a magazine equipped with a skeletonized extension and cause malfunctions but I assume Briley HONEYCOMB extensions are made for competition shooting which is normally done in a more controlled environment compared to hunting or defensive and tactical use? I don’t know … sound off in the comments section.

The Riflespeed Gas Control system is a quick and easy way to get your rifle up and running in a variety of situations when it just isn’t running right. The main advantage of the Riflespeed Gas Control system is that you can have a much longer handguard in a lot of cases since the system can be adjusted without tools, just using your hand. The Riflspeed system is being updated with a new Quick Lever Kit which allows the user to more easily adjust the gas controls, even if the handguard completely covers the controls.

Texas Weapon Systems, a company specializing in designing and manufacturing upgrade parts for the AK family of firearms, came up with a new AK stock called Sledge. I love my Hellcat Pro. The pistol has accompanied me almost every day since it was released. There is, however, always room for improvement. Adding accessories to your carry gun can enhance your ability to be effective if the need arises. There are also accessories that are purely cosmetic and add only to the carrier’s pride of ownership. I did however find some time this week to work on a Traditions Blunderbuss Muzzle Loader Kit that I acquired a little while ago. These sorts of kits are common enough and similar ones have been sold for decades. I’ve never used one but I figured it would be a fun project that I could potentially impart some general tips along the way. Let’s dive into the initial steps!

XS Sights has announced new offerings for SIG, FN, and Springfield pistols needing a new set of standard or suppressor height night sights. XS Sights’ second generation R3D 2.0 night sights, as well as their new Minimalist tritium sights, are now available for the FN 509, Springfield Hellcat, and XD series, as well as the entire lineup of SIG Sauer pistols including some of the older DA/SA models.

Angled Spade Technologies (AST) is excited to announce what they think will solve one of the industry’s most hot-button issues surrounding the SIG Sauer P320 platform. The new AST Fire Control Upgrade Kit is an aftermarket solution that allows for direct mechanical control of the sear without altering the look or feel of the P320 platform. The intent with this product, according to one of their engineers is to increase the overall safety of the P320 platform.

The Henry Big Boy lever action rifle is a model that has deservedly gained a pretty positive reputation for not just being reliable, accurate, and durable, but also just plain fun to shoot. Henry makes these classic lever actions available in nearly all of the common straight-walled cartridges ranging from .357 Magnum all the way up to .44 Magnum. What is perhaps best about the Henry Big Boy series of lever guns is simply their value. Most of these lever guns can be had for about $900 or less and you’re getting an amazing combination of quality construction and reliability in a proven platform. However, these lever actions are quite limited when it comes to one thing – optics. Other more modern lever guns have started to incorporate integrated or factory-installed Picatinny rails for use with riflescopes, red dots, and sometimes even Laser IR devices for night vision hunting. Luckily, XS Sights sells a great DIY solution for replacing the factory iron sights on a Herny Big Boy rifle. Their functional and sleek-looking Lever Rail and Ghost Ring sights still preserve iron sight capability while adding some much-needed versatility to a dated platform.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of touring the Silencer Central headquarters in Sioux Falls South Dakota. Besides making kick-butt products they also have the distinction of being one of the most user-friendly and customer-focused silencer companies. Despite them having offered this for years (well before they took up the namesake of Silencer Central), most folks I talk to did not even know they offered this service. That being said, today I will share what I saw and my own experience getting a barrel threaded by the kind folks at Silencer Central. Let’s dive right in!

The MP5-SD is one of the best suppressed 9mm PCC ever made. However, the problem it has is due to the cage that shrouds the suppressor. Well, Dakota Tactical has come out with the TheOne SD Cage. It is used in their MP5-SD builds and opens up more modularity for the gun.

Some rifles need to be wet to run well, while others enjoy a good, carbon-soaked beating. No matter how well any particular firearm can fight through grime, they all need maintenece at some point. In this regard, AR-pattered rifles do a great job of making field stripping a breeze. Pop the pins and pivot, or separate both halves completely. Not all small parts are created equally, however, and those looking to upgrade their AR-10 pins now have a new option from Strike Industries. These are the new AR-10 Extended Pivot and Takedown pins.

Despite the ongoing war or maybe because of it, the Ukrainian KPYK keeps releasing new firearm accessories at an impressive frequency. JDI Firearms is the sole US importer of SIG SG55x firearms, including models like the SG550 and SG553. In addition to SIG, JDI imports high-end brands like PGM Precision and Wyssen Defence. JDI Firearms announced in an Instagram post that CSR Precision is the latest brand to join their lineup.

Sven of Manticore Arms announced they were working on a new safety selector for the Springfield Hellion. The Manticore Hellion Enhanced Safety System changes the geometry of the safety selector for a more ergonomic throw more akin to an AR-15.

Firearms are not unique in their contentious relationship with dust and dirt. Any machine that gets foreign material in its operating system is bound to fail eventually. When it comes to your rifle, however, being on the wrong side of that relationship could lead to much more tragic results. Thankfully, we have a little help when running an AR-15. The advances in technology for accessories mean nothing without a solid platform on which to mount them. While high-end thin handguards can be plenty strong, some people still prefer the tank-ish quad rails of old. As someone who just ditched mine earlier this year, I get it.
