J.P. Sauer & Sohn have introduced a new bolt action rifle, the  Sauer 505. This new rifle has two-piece furniture and a completely new action that is advertised as silky smooth, super silent and extremely fast. Let’s take a look at the specs and features of the new Sauer 505 bolt action rifle.

It is officially no secret that the US Navy is searching out some more ammunition because they have been announcing ammo contract securements as of late. Remington recently was awarded a contract for shotgun shells and now we have some more news concerning Federal. Federal Ammunition has recently been awarded the Mk316 Mod 0 US Navy Contract for 7.62x51mm rifle ammunition for two years.

Expanding their extensive catalog of bolt action rifles, Mauser has unveiled three new models for 2024 – the Mauser 18 Pure, Mauser 18 Pure Max and Mauser 12 Grey Max. What sets these three models apart from other Mauser 18 and Mauser 12 rifles is the laminated wood furniture. The difference between the Mauser 18 Pure and Mauser 18 Pure Max is in the stock profile with the former sporting a more classic stock and the latter being equipped with a thumbhole stock. Mauser 12 Grey Max features a thumbhole stock with polymer coating over laminated wood. Below you can find the tech specs of these new Mauser rifles. Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many different types of firearms, history, trends, ammunition, and much more! The TFB and TFBTV crew have just come back from SHOT Show 2024 and to be honest, it was kind of a blur. This year was probably the busiest we have been and probably the most heavily trafficked I’ve ever seen the show in recent years. That being said, the yearly grind of booth assaults is still one of the most enjoyable events of the year for me mostly because of the good company of the entire TFB/TFBTV crew, but also for the sheer amount of cool and new stuff we get to see. This year I was excited to see a couple of new 22LR offerings including the brand new Hammerli Force B1. This new 10/22-esque-looking firearm not only uses Ruger pattern BX magazines, but it features a quick change barrel system so you can swap between cheap and fun 22LR to the much more potent and reliable 22WMR with a lightning-fast and neat quick change barrel system. While that’s cool news in and of itself, I think the rimfire sector of the firearms industry is finally starting to see a lot more of its deserved attention. As we’ll discuss today, I think the Hammerli Force B1 is a great indicator of things to come in the rimfire firearm world, and of course, take a closer look at this neat new convertible rimfire rifle.

Luke C (​@ballisticaviation⁠) is at the Rock River Arms booth to check out the company’s newest rimfire rifle in 17 HMR. The RRA 17 HMR has a unique gas operated blowback system that allows the rifle to operate using a wide variety of 17 HMR ammunition, and also reduces fouling in critical areas of the firearm. This new rifle will be sold as both a complete 17 HMR rifle compatible with Black Dog magazines, or as a standalone upper that comes with the unique Bolt Carrier Group, and properly weighted buffer.

Agency Arms is entering the AR market in 2024 and alongside their sister companies Riflespeed and Cloud Defensive, they’ve designed a custom rifle for Tu Lam of Ronin Tactics. This AR has a newly designed version of the Cloud Defensive COR rail that has step down section at the front to lower a laser aiming module out of the view of the optic. It also has a cutout window to allow access to a special version of the Riflespeed adjustable gas block. Some of these features will also be on the standard Agency Arms rifle, but not all of them! As you can imagine, Hop is devastated.

Montana-based Olympus Arms returns to SHOT Show’s Industry Day at the Range with their Vulcan rifle. James saw it last year and made a very popular video about it, but there are some changes that have been made and also, James wanted to know about the accuracy of this platform.

Luke C @BallisticAviation is visiting with Kirk from Aero precision to talk about the latest extension to the bolt-action SOLUS line. Aero now has long action SOLUS receivers and complete rifles that still have the same great set of features and premium components found in the short action line, but now with new caliber options like 300 WM, further expanding the capabilities of the SOLUS Lineup of bolt action rifles.

At SHOT Show 2024, Hop visited the Kriss USA booth to see the new 3rd generation Vector. The new gun is still available as a carbine, pistol, or SBR, and has a few changes to make it more appealing to buyers in 2024. The rear of the gun now has a short length of Picatinny rail so it no longer requires the use of the proprietary Kriss stock. The carbine length Vector CRB now has accessory rail slots on the removable barrel shroud, and the muzzle is threaded. The 3rd generation guns also have an improved trigger, swappable grip, and a more slimmed-down look.

Today Luke C (​⁠​⁠@BallisticAviation) is at the Fletcher Rifle Works booth in the Cesar’s Forum to talk with CEO Paul Fletcher about the latest developments for the OpenTop 11/22 series of receivers, rifles and pistols. The latest iteration to be released is the new Takedown model that features a very minimal amount of point of impact shift when removing and replacing the optic rail, or the barrel. With premium components from other well-known 10/22 aftermarket companies, the OpenTop 11/22 Takedown is the result of a lot of trial, error, and refinement by the Fletcher Rifle Works team.

TBX Hunting has announced at SHOT 2024 the start of production for its innovative Popshot muzzleloader speed loader system. The company has developed this system exclusively for .50 caliber muzzleloaders, catering to the needs of enthusiasts who favor quick and convenient loading during hunts.

Mountain Billy Gun Lab, known for the GOAT-15 – a lightweight AR-style rimfire, has expanded its offerings with the introduction of the LR47 at SHOT Show 2024. The new rifle maintains the company’s reputation for scaled-down firearms, following a design philosophy similar to its GOAT-15 predecessor. The LR47 features a scaled-down AK-style trigger system and retains robust metal internals while being housed in a lightweight plastic chassis.

At the SHOT Show 2024, Desert Tech presented a new addition to their line of firearms – the WLVRN, a bullpup rifle that builds on the foundations of their MDRx model. The company’s innovation has resulted in a rifle comprised of 49 fewer parts compared to its predecessor. This streamlined design not only achieves a 19% reduction in weight but also enhances accuracy by up to 30%, as per Desert Tech’s reports.

At the SHOT Show 2024, Faxon Firearms displayed their ARAK-21 rifle, which is currently in production and slated to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2024. The ARAK-21 is distinctive due to its combination of design elements from both the AK and AR platforms, featuring a long-stroke gas-operated action. Notably, it is designed to be fully compatible with any AR-15 lower receivers.

At SHOT Show 2024 Range Day, Hoplopfheil shot the new Sako 90 bolt action rifle. The 90 series rifles have a few improvements over the 85 series, including an adjustable trigger and two types of receiver for modern or classic optic mounting. As usual for Sako, the 90 will be available in multiple calibers, multiple action lengths, finishes, and furniture styles.

At SHOT Show 2024, Uintah Precision, recognized for their UP-15 bolt action AR-like rifles and the Modern Sporting Muzzleloader, has introduced new rifles available in the new 8.6 Blackout and 22 ARC cartridges.

At the SHOT Show 2024, ATA, the Turkish firearms manufacturer, introduced a new long-action version of their Turqua bolt-action sporter. The showcased model at the event was chambered in .30-06, signaling the expansion of the Turqua line which ATA has stated will also include .270 and .300 Win Mag offerings. Notable features of this rifle include a three-position safety mechanism and a convenient buttonless bolt removal system which simplifies the disassembly process, eliminating the need for awkward two-handed operations when stripping the rifle.

Today Luke C is back on the SHOT Show 2024 floor with Zenith Firearms to talk about their wild roller delayed rifle, the ZF-56. This new rifle combines a lot of the handling characteristics and features of the much-loved AR-15 platform with the theoretically more robust roller-delayed blowback system. The ZF-56 will be available in both 5.56 and .300 Blackout upon initial launch, and of course, that means that the ZF-56 will be compatible with all standard AR magazines.

Davide Pedersoli has announced the expansion of its Droptine rifle lineup with a wood-and-blued-steel version set to debut this year at SHOT 2024. This iteration follows the rifle’s introduction in 2023, which featured a composite stock and a modernized look. The latest model takes a step back in terms of aesthetics, opting for a more traditional look while maintaining the updated features that mark its recent evolution.

Cimarron has recently announced the release of their new 1894 Trapper rifle, which emerges as a nod to the traditional lever-action firearm design. This latest offering by Cimarron avoids modern alterations such as cross-bolt or tang safeties, rebounding hammers, and angle-eject features that are commonly found in contemporary lever-action rifles. It also comes with semi-buckhorn iron sights, and notably, the receiver is not designed to be drilled and tapped, further cementing its vintage appeal.

At SHOT 2024, Nebraska-based Zermatt Arms unveiled its newest product, a chassis designed for the Remington 700 series. With its dedication to precision and quality, Zermatt has for years held a highly respected place in the industry of precision rifle accessories and actions.

At this year’s SHOT Show, Christensen Arms unveiled three new rifle models, broadening their product range in both the entry-level and high-performance segments. Among the releases is the Christensen Arms Evoke, the company’s inaugural offering priced under $1,000, designed to attract new customers to their products.

During the SHOT Show 2024, Black Rain Ordnance introduced the new Frontline and Frontline Plus pistols as well as a new line of bolt action rifles.

SHOT Show 2024 has been the year of the lever action, and Midwest Industries arrived at the show with new accessories for all of them. Hop stopped by to check out the new stock accessories, and play catch up on the lever action handguards and optics rails Midwest has been making for a while. Midwest Industries lever action products include stocks, handguards, and optic rail mounts for several brands and patterns of lever action rifles, all of which can be installed without permanently altering the rifle.

Welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is about the rimfire firearm world and its many types of rifles, handguns, ammunition, and shooting sports! In the last installment, we brought you all back a bit in time to when the Mitchell Arms company produced one of the most unique and fondly remembered 50-round rotary drum magazines for the Ruger 10/22 rifle. Many people who have owned these, including those of you in the comments, lamented that while they have great memories of shooting with these unique 50-rounders, most of you have stopped due to concerns over the deterioration of the bolt, and other plastic components. I suppose for now they’ll just have to remain a nice rimfire junkie’s collector’s item. This week we’re headed to France, or rather talking about a French-made gun that is not only really rare in the United States, but rare for rimfire firearms in general. We’re talking about our titular firearm for today’s Rimfire Report – the Gevarm series of open-bolt 22LR semi-auto rifles.

Just before the SHOT Show, Ruger announced the Generation II version of the American series bolt action rifles, and Hop dropped by to check them out. Like the previous generation, Ruger American Gen II will be available in the standard size as well as the smaller, lighter “Ranch” models. The new features include factory Cerakote, spiral fluted barrels, threaded barrels with an included muzzle brake, a new three-position safety design, and a greatly improved stock with an included cheek riser.
