I’m sure most of you have noticed that the price of just about everything including, guns, ammunition, and gear is only getting more expensive as the year progresses. While the discussion on why that is happening can be had elsewhere, what hope do we gun owners have in updating or replacing our worn or used up gear if prices only continue to climb? One company, Grey Man Tactical is taking a stand against inflation by promising to not raise their prices and instead decided to cut prices on their products.

I really like rigid EDC belts that feature Cobra buckles. For the last 3 or 4 years, I’ve worn one pretty much every day. However, one major downside to these rigid belts is that they tend to be pretty uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time while hiking. That is why the Galco Trail Belt seems like a pretty interesting adaptation of the EDC belt design.

In the past, I have written up reviews on both the single and double port P320 compensators from Parker Mountain Machine. Like many of you, I almost always have different gun projects in the works and I wanted to test out some different products for my smaller P320s. One of the more recent things that caught my eye was the P320 Micro compensator for compact and subcompact slide lengths. I have enjoyed shooting with the full-size compensators but the micro made me wonder how much performance can come from a small comp like that. I’ve had this set up installed the last few weeks and after around 850 rounds, I have enough time under my belt to tell you my thoughts. Let’s take a closer look at the PMM P320 Micro compensator.

Continuing The CZ History Books series of posts dedicated to the company’s history and their most interesting firearm designs, Ceska Zbrojovka has published an article about an extremely obscure gun from the ’90s – the CZ Tarantule water cannon. Shooting a high-velocity jet of water, the CZ Tarantule was designed to be used in applications like destroying locks, punching through walls and disposal of explosives. CZ themselves say that this gun is probably the strangest weapon in their collection.

One of the best ways to look at common trends in the gun community is lurking around your local gun shop. Like a small troll sneaking around the gun shop, one of my favorite things to do is eavesdrop on what people say about new conceal carry options. Whether it’s gun or gear, I’ve heard a number of interesting perspectives on a wide variety of gun topics. Everything from “10mm is more reliable than 9mm” to “people should carry two guns instead of a spare magazine“. Throughout my time listening to other people, there are a few things people should try that may make their life easier in the long run. I’m not saying these options will be the best thing around but they may help you out. Let’s take a closer look at some new items to start carrying.

Friday night is upon us once again. In today’s Friday Night Lights we will take a look at a clever little upgrade for a Steiner DBAL D2 and SPIR illuminator. Last fall, Villain Weapon Systems announced their LSD (light shaping diffuser) for the DBAL D2. It was a simple yet effective upgrade for the DBAL D2 multi-function aiming laser (MFAL). With their LSD diffuser, you can quickly shape the IR illuminator from tight hot spot to a wider beam with the flip of a cap rather than twisting the beam shaping head.

At the recent IWA exhibition in Germany, Pulsar showed a new setup to attach their thermal front attachments to red dots and riflescopes with the help of an adapter. The product launch is now upon us and is called the PSP-V adapter. It is designed to mount the Proton and Krypton FXG50 thermal imaging attachments in front of optical sights on hunting and sporting weapons with Weaver/Picatinny rails, found on most modern sporting and AR‒15 platform rifles. An adapter may not sound like huge news, but it will actually make it a lot easier to use thermals on a lot of rifles.

To quote the late British author Sir Terence David John Pratchett, “Sometimes it is better to light a flamethrower than curse the darkness.” I have no idea if he had something like the new Pulsefire UBF in mind when he said that but it’s here anyway. This new rail-mounted flamethrower is set to start shipping in June of 2022 and is apparently capable of spouting gasoline or gasoline-diesel flames out to 25-feet.

Emissary Development has introduced an extended switch for SureFire X300 style weapon lights called Paddle Shifter. It extends the switch upwards to the thumb of your support hand in the common modern way of gripping a semi-auto pistol, and is designed to make manipulating the light more intuitive with minimum alteration of the grip and maintaining utmost control of the weapon while activating the light.

The SIG Sauer P365 was a game-changer. The success of the pistol forced so many other manufacturers to catch up. There’s no wonder the aftermarket for these wonder-pistols has exploded, especially with the introduction of the P365 FCU. Strike Industries, a company loved by those who appreciate their push for innovation, has entered that aftermarket. SI has introduced their Strike Slide, this time for the SIG Sauer P365. 

When you start straying away from bone stock rifles without lights and start putting things like IR illuminators, weapon lights, and switches on your gun, cable management can be absolute hell to deal with. Strike Industries has just introduced their new Link Cobra foregrip which incorporates a cable management system allowing for a more streamlined platform that should reduce the risk of your cables getting in the way or getting snagged on things they shouldn’t.

Although this product was released on April 1st, it’s not a joke. Samson Manufacturing is proud to introduce their next-generation Hannibal Rail for Ruger’s Mini-14 and Mini Thirty rifles. The new Hannibal Rail is now compatible with many of the industry’s most popular red dot optics including the C-MORE, Vortex VENOM, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and of course the venerated Trijicon RMR. This new rail will come in two iterations to cover Ruger rifles made both before the changes made to the rifles during 2008.

Whether your aim is target shooting, testing out a fresh batch of reloads, sighting in a new rifle, or just sending some lead downrange for fun, a good shooting rest can make you, the shooter, a lot more accurate. On March 24th the ATF released an open letter to all Federal Firearms Licensees in regards to the purchase, selling, and possession of Forced Reset Triggers or FRTs. Although this probably doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone, the letter is quite clear in its intention and seems to actively seek out to retroactively punish those who have purchased them or have sold them. More rounds are always appreciated, and Strike Industries has been providing more rounds for your Glock with their polymer Extended Magazine Plate (EMP) for a few years. While the polymer versions continue to keep customers happy, people have been calling for a metal version. Well, now Strike Industries has delivered. Back in September, I wrote about the new Backcountry 2.0 rifle from Weatherby at their unveiling event. I was impressed with the overall decrease in felt recoil from a magnum caliber we shot at the event. One of the first bolt actions I bought was a Mark V Ultralite in .300 Weatherby Magnum. It sat in my gun safe for years since it was such a sharp recoiling rifle that hit like a freight train. This fall, I sent my Weatherby Mark V in to be threaded for a muzzle brake as well as getting a Peak 44 Blacktooth stock installed. Those of you who have picked up one of Geissele’s Super Duty rifles will probably know all about how well regarded the SSA-E X trigger is. For those that don’t know, this particular trigger is an improved version of the popular SSA-E trigger. The SSA-E X adds a semi-curved Lightning Bow trigger and also has a lot of the same great features that the rest of the SSA-E lineup has. Before, those that wanted one of these highly sought-after triggers could only get them by purchasing one of Geissele’s Super Duty rifles but now Geissele is offering the SSA-E X as a standalone product for those that want to get one.
