By doing so, you get a chance at winning one of 12 great prizes. Please buy some tickets – the last person I want to see win something suppressor related is me (I should be forced to buy NFA stuff to support the cause).

TFB B-Side Podcast: Preston With QuietBore & Creative Arms

Suppressors are now one of the most popular and sought-after firearm accessories on the market. It’s almost universally accepted now that suppressors do provide a tangible benefit to shooters when employed correctly. However, the rub has always been that suppressors in the United States still remain one of the most expensive firearms accessories on the market. The folks over at Creative Arms and Quiet Bore are taking a different approach to suppressors and instead offer some of the most affordable suppressors on the market. In today’s episode of the TFB B-Side Podcast Preston and I talk about some of the benefits of the QuietBore lineup, their origins in DIY suppressor kits, and how some of Preston’s own personal interests have translated into improvements in the suppressor market.

SAAMI Announces Suppressor Thread & Socket Drawings

Suppressors have become an incredibly popular firearms accessory in the two previous decades and have gone from relative obscurity to being at the top of almost every hunter’s and shooter’s wishlist. However, many suppressors use wildly different mounting solutions and as a result, you’ll almost always have to dip into a completely different mounting solution environment if you want to switch the type of suppressor that is currently on your gun. SAAMI is aiming to change that with the announcement that they’ve published  Suppressor Thread and Socket Drawings in an effort to develop standards for firearm suppressors.

POTD: M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle with Trijicon VCOG 1-8×28

One of the purposes of TFB’s Photo Of The Day is to broaden the audience for the excellent work done by professionals from combat photography to still and action photography of firearms. A perfect picture may take everything from a split second to months of planning, and it would be sad to see that kind of work go unnoticed. Considering that these images were taken onboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) in the Atlantic Ocean it makes the challenge to produce high-quality images even harder. Above you can see a really good image of the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle with the Trijicon VCOG 1-8×28 rifle scope. The U.S. Marine is Lance Cpl. Camron Edwards, a rifleman with Golf Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Wild Arms Lets Off Some Steam With A DIY M202 Launcher

The M202A1 Flame Assault Shoulder Weapon (FlASh) is a lightweight multishot reusable rocket launcher designed and developed in the United States in 1972. Although most people will inevitably recognize it from the 1985 film Commando starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the M202 and M202A1 both saw action in the US Army and US Marine Corps as a ranged incendiary device before its gradual phase out in favor of the SMAW in the mid-1980s. Johnny Wild of Wild Arms Research and Development has been hard at work once again reviving an almost forgotten recoilless launcher with the intention of not only reproducing it but also improving on the design to make it simpler to build. I spoke with Johnny recently and he has shared some of his progress so far with TFB. Let’s take a look at what he’s got so far!

NEW Quiet: PWS BDE 762 – Bravo Delta Echo Suppressor

Additive manufacturing is taking the suppressor world by storm. When I first wrote about the Delta P Design Brevis II about five years ago, I took a fair amount of heat in the comment section. The main concerns were durability and repairing damaged 3D-printed silencers. I think we can lay the durability issue to rest (they are strong). And modularity is beginning to address the repair possibilities by having the serialized sections separated from the majority of the tubes. The new PWS BDE 762 takes additive modularity to a new level with six additional sections past the serialized blast baffle and mount section. Add in a 1.375 x 24” universal adapter thread pitch and a new contender starts to take shape. All puns in this article are organic, even if they are cringey.

Now Available: 3D-Printed HUXWRX FLOW 556k Rifle Suppressor

A true defensive “fighting” carbine needs to be compact, lightweight, accurate, and reliable to fill its role in the armory. Any equipment added to the carbine’s system should be an important capability of the system without dramatically impacting overall functionality. When it comes to suppressors, I believe that short and light models that are as gas-neutral as possible are the best choice for the AR-15. It seems that the new 3D-printed HUXWRX FLOW 556K has found the sweet spot between suppression and system integration.

The SilencerCo Osprey Gets An Update; Nominated For Silencer Hall Of Fame

Featured in The Walking Dead, The Accountant, and a variety of other Hollywood releases, the SilencerCo Osprey is one of the most recognizable suppressors in modern history. Instead of a nondescript round tube, the Osprey has a rectangular profile that features an offset bore allowing for the use of standard height sights. SilencerCo is announcing the release of the Osprey 2.0 that uses a push button instead of a throw lever to index the suppressor on the barrel. The result is a streamlined, elegant system that brings the Osprey into a new era. If there was a suppressor Hall of Fame, the Osprey would have already been inducted as one of the most recognizable silencers.

The Rimfire Report: Gemtech Integra Suppressed Upper vs Oil Filter

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is about the rimfire firearm world and its various arms, ammunition, and shooting sports. Last week we took another look at the SIG Sauer P322 22LR pistol. My personal P322 has hit over 10,000 rounds in just under 4 months and is showing no signs of stopping so far and I’m going to try to reach 20,000 in 2023 sometime. This week, however, I was finally able to get my hands on a genuine Gemtech Integra 15-22 Integrally suppressed upper. Today we’ll take a look at both it, and another 15-22 pistol upper topped with an oil filter suppressor to see how the two opposite ends of the spectrum stack up in the .22LR suppression game.

Legislative Updates – Follow The American Suppressor Association On YouTube

While we don’t engage in partisan discussions here at TFB, keeping up with legislative, regulatory, and legal issues is important for the health of the firearms industry. In the past few months, several important legal and policy decisions have shaped the way gun ownership is categorized in the United States. In my opinion, one of the most misunderstood and misrepresented aspects of our industry is firearms categorized under the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934. This law, and subsequent additions, create barriers to ownership by implementing tax penalties, registration, and months of application wait times for firearms like suppressors and short barrel rifles. The American Suppressor Association is working to change public opinions on silencers and shape policy and legislation on NFA items. Follow the ASA on YouTube.

NEW: Griffin Armament DUAL-LOK Rifle Suppressors, Muzzle Devices

A recent poll of 956 silencer owners showed that 69% prefer to use a quick disconnect (QD) mounting system over direct thread mounts. Out of those who responded, 100% of them require a solid, dependable mechanism that is easy to use. Ok, I just made up all of those numbers, but theoretically, it could all be true. Griffin Armament has just announced a new mounting system and muzzle device lineup for rifle suppressors. The Griffin Armament DUAL-LOK mounts use a simple spring-loaded locking ring that has two locked positions separated by a neutral position for installation and removal. I’ve been using the system for about a week and it works as advertised. Give me another week to get both suppressors and a variety of muzzle devices out on the range for a full report.
