AR pattern rifles are relatively new on the Russian market but are already presented in a wide variety of configurations, from pistol caliber carbines to AR-10 style rifles and everything inbetween. Most of them are largely just ARs, nothing special. However, one company, Souz-TM, makes pretty interesting AR-15 style rifles that are chambered in 5.45x39mm and take modified AK-74 magazines. The company offers a DI version of their modified AK-74 mag fed AR called STM-545 and a short stroke piston operated one called STM-415.

Luth-AR have released a new AR pistol grip called  Wing Grip which is basically an improved and ambidextrous version of their Chubby Grip. Compared to the latter, the Wing Grip is completely symmetrical with an identical palm swell geometry on either side, a circular palm shelf and an ambidextrous thumb shelf. Other differences from the Chubby Grip include the stippling-like texture on the top portion of the backstrap, rear horizontal serrations, and lack of texture over the thumb shelves which are replaced with Freedom Flag panels for Maximum Freedom.

Stern Defense have announced the availability of their  Rapid Attach Buttstock Adapter (RAB-AD) which was introduced at TriggrCon 2022. This device is installed on the AR-15 buffer tube and lower receiver allowing to quickly detach the two parts from each other for ease of transportation and storage.

I recently had the chance to try out one of the newest small arms made in Ukraine – the UAR-15 rifle which was developed for the Ukrainian military. TLDR: These are really well-built AR-style rifles, and it’s a shame they are not likely to go on the civilian market anytime soon since all the production is now military-oriented.

Kentucky-based Anderson Manufacturing have announced three new additions to their A4 range of ARs. Building on their A4 series, the new firearms include a braced pistol, a carbine and a 20″ barrel rifle all fitted with quad rails. MSRP ranges from $669.99 for the pistol and carbine to $679.99 for the rifle.

Faxon Firearms have announced a new line of lightweight AR-15 receiver sets dubbed X-Tra Lite. These receivers are based on the Faxon’s forged AR-15 receivers and are also made of 7075-T6 aluminum, however, thanks to the deleted forward assist, lightening relief cuts and skeletonized magazine well and top Picatinny rail, the X-Tra Lite receiver sets are two ounces lighter than their regular counterparts.

Brownells just announced a new HK416-pattern upper receiver kit, the BRN-4. This piston-driven upper is compatible with standard AR-15 lower receiver groups.

Law Tactical is primarily known in the gun world for their AR-15 side folding stock/buffer tube adapters. While their side folding mechanisms make the AR-pattern guns much more compact for transportation, you have to deploy the stock to allow the action of the gun to cycle because as you know, part of the AR-15 rifles’ action (recoil spring and buffer) is inside the buffer tube. Well, the company now has a solution for that with their new AR Internal Carrier (ARIC) which is basically a shortened modified BCG with two side recoil springs that cycles within the upper receiver, allowing to fire the gun with a folded stock.

FoldAR’s compact and quick deploying AR pistols have just received a fresh new update for 2023. The compact folding AR pistols will still remain compliant with NFA regulations keeping them off the registry but will now include a new adjustable gas bolt carrier group, Red Rock Outdoor Gears Large Rover slingpack, as well as a new 300 BLK variant. What’s unique about the FoldAR MoBetta pistols is that they allow the user to have a compact package in virtually any barrel length while remaining reliable due to the adjustable gas block system.

In the world of ARs, there are countless options at almost every single price point imaginable. I oftentimes get accused of ignoring cheaper options and only going after high-end stuff which made me start to think. Is it possible to get a high-end accurate rifle set up without paying the $2,000+ price tag? Well, I decided to cough up my own money to check out if this is possible and what it takes to buy an almost identical factory Daniel Defense SOCOM rifle setup. Let’s take a look at the Daniel Defense M4A1 SOCOM 14.5 upper receiver.

Rosco Manufacturing has released an 11.5” K9 barrel in Crucible 416R with a nitrided finish. Their proprietary patrol length gas system is claimed to offer a smoother recoil than a carbine length system. They recommend a 10″ minimum length for the handguard. The muzzle thread pitch, if you want to add a suppressor or other muzzle devices is 1/2 x 28.

Geisslele Automatics won a contract to supply AR-15 rifles to Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This new contract includes both complete rifles and upper receiver groups. Let’s take a look at the specifics of this contract, and what it might mean for Geissele’s future civilian offerings.

Daniel Defense, manufacturers of the now iconic DD MK18 5.56mm carbine and other long arms, have just announced the Daniel SoundGuard suppressor lineup. Comprised of the SG-556, SG-30, and the SG-30Ti, the new rifle suppressors have every caliber covered from 5.56mm to .300PRC and everything in between. Outfitted with the now universal 1.375 x 24 mount threads, the SoundGuard silencers come with a direct thread mount, but can accept other industry-standard QD systems as well. Featuring a gas-flow dynamic design to minimize blow back, toxic gasses are pushed forward and not back into the shooter’s face.

A2 sights were a controversial design choice when they replaced the old A1 versions. They added complexity and made it possible to change the sight setting without a tool. While some users have maligned the A2, it is a very capable sight for the average civilian shooter.
