At SHOT Show 2022, Faxon Firearm in collaboration with Q LLC introduced bolt action and semi-auto firearms chambered in 8.6 Blackout. The 8.6BLK is a .338 caliber cartridge developed by Q and Faxon designed the guns chambered in this cartridge, more importantly, they were able to make barrels with an extremely fast twist rate of 1:3″ required to stabilize the heavy 300-grain bullets of subsonic 8.6BLK loads. Faxon Firearms has recently announced that their Sentinel series of AR-10 pattern semi-auto rifles chambered in 8.6 Blackout is now available for preorder.

This week we return to the world of Knight’s with a look at the KAC 5.56 QDC/CQB rifle suppressor on both the 11.5″ carbine length gas and the intermediate length gas KAC SR-15.

Ever since I bought a Chronos 1.4 high-speed camera, I have used it to document a lot of things. Most of them are firearm related. One benefit to having a high-speed camera is the ability to slow down fast events that are often too fast for our eyes to see let alone understand. One example is a firearm malfunction. We may know how to clear a malfunction but do we understand why it is happening so we can address the problem rather than perform remedial actions? Here we take a closer look at what causes a slow-motion malfunction.

OEM parts supplier Unbranded AR has released a new stripped lower receiver with throwback markings. Nothing ruins a good carry handle build like a rollmark with the wrong vibes, but this one will blend right in. 

Defense Distributed (DD) came out with the Ghost Gunner to help freedom-loving individuals machine 80% receivers with more precision for a garage builder. Other than buying a HAAS or similarly expensive CNC machine, the Ghost Gunner gets the job done. Well now that 80% are in danger of being restricted and regulated, DD came up with the 0% lower receiver kit. They sent one of their kits in for review so let us dive in and see how the 0% lower receiver build process is and how the receiver works.

Valiant Dynamics, a Michigan-based gun company, has designed a rather unique AR-15 stock dubbed  EvolvR Combat Stock. This stock was designed to make shouldering a rifle while wearing an armor plate carrier more comfortable, stable and secure. This is achieved by the design of the octagonal buttpad which can be rotated around its axis and has an extension called Spur-Catch that hooks to the inside of the plate carrier shoulder straps.

DRD Tactical and Zanders Sporting Goods have teamed up to release the new Zanders Exclusive DRD Tactical Sub-6 Rifle. The Sub-6 is a lightweight AK/AR mashup that combines the reliability of an AK with the manual of arms and modularity of an AR in a lightweight package. About a week ago, you guys got to read my take on the WWSD 2020 rifle. Love it or hate it, the rifle has generated quite the buzz in the firearms community over the last couple of years and I thought it might be prudent to bring the designers of the WWSD and KP-15 projects on the TFB Podcast to explain the story from the start of the project to where we find ourselves today. Bilson Arms, a firearms and accessories manufacturer located in Broussard, Louisiana, has released a new AR-15 stock called Pivotal Buttstock. The rear portion of this stock rotates around its axis allowing the shooter to tilt the gun without changing the position of the buttstock in their shoulder for more comfortable shooting from different stances or when transitioning between primary and secondary optics/sights.

This week we embark on our journey into the world of Knight’s Armament signature reduction devices with a look at the KAC mounts for 5.56 and 7.62 rifles. Let’s take a look.

Throughout my years of shooting, there’ve been a few things that people purchase a number of times before settling on the product that works best for them. Holsters are typically the item people think about but another shooting product that takes time to find are rifle slings as well. Throughout the years, I have gone through a number of slings and found a number of features I really like and some I dislike when it comes to a good rifle sling. The most recent purchase takes a number of features I like in slings and combined them into one modular unit. Let’s take a closer look at the ANR Design’s New Link Sling.

The KP-15 and by extension the WWSD (What Would Stoner Do) have been an extremely hot topic within the AR-15 building community for the last two years or so with tons of people who both like and dislike the concept, as well as its implementation. Naturally, I was morbidly curious about the whole concept myself and I opted to order two of the KE Arms KP-15 monolithic polymer receivers as soon as they become available. However, to my dismay, proper parts dried up very quickly and it wasn’t until early this spring that I was able to get my hands on all the final components to finish out my own WWSD 2020 rifle. Over the time that it took to get the rifle completed several different variations of the concept also developed including the KP-9 PCC lower receiver, the CDR (Civil Defense Rifle), and of course the much more budget-friendly and probably more practical KP-15 M4 Complete Rifle which costs only $600. My personal WWSD 2020 rifle isn’t a 100% clone of an off-the-shelf WWSD but it’s about 90% of the way there with the only real differences being the charging handle and bolt carrier group I opted to use. I tested the WWSD for accuracy and also ran it in a fitting InRangeTV Brutality match to get a feel for its performance in various circumstances. Today I’ll share my experiences so far with my WWSD 2020 and hopefully dispel some of the myths surrounding both its popularity and its infamy.

CMMG have introduced a new line of PDW firearms dubbed Dissent.
