Welcome back to Wheelgun Wednesday, our weekly article series where we cover everything related to revolvers. Today’s topic is a rather unconventional Deluxe Engraved 1860 Army Model by Pietta, a cowboy firearm replica that may not score high in practicality in the modern world, but surely does in the looks department.

Wheegun Wednesday @ TFB:

A more conventional 1860 Army Model.

1860/1862 Deluxe Engraved Old Silver Snubnose Express: Introduction

Early & Modern Firearms Co. (EMF) is the American importer of the vast catalog of cowboy firearms replicas by the Italian company F.lli Pietta (literally Pietta Bros). This collection spans countless versions of the Single Action Army Model to more niche pistols such as the cap and ball 1860/1862 Army Model. This line includes the new 1860/1862 Deluxe Engraved Old Silver Snubnose Express .44 3", with bird’s head grips.

An “Old Silver” 1860 Army Model, the base of the Snubnose Express.

For a further dive into the peculiar grip shape of the Snubnose Express, we suggest reading this installment of the Wheelgun Wednesday by our Senior Writer and avid wheelgunner Rusty.

1860/1862 Deluxe Engraved Old Silver Snubnose Express: Price and Availability

At the time of writing, the revolver is currently listed as “temporarily out of stock” on the EMF website, while its price is set at a rather reasonable $665 MSRP. The full line of 1860/1862 Army Model revolvers is currently out of stock, but we can speculate that they are imported in batches and the availability status is likely to change soon.

What do you TFB readers think? Do you have experience with Cap & Ball revolvers? And if so, would you rather prefer full-size Army Models or would you enjoy exploring “saloon CCW” options? As usual, let us know in the comments.
