With the recent news of Hurricane Helene and talk of another already hitting roughly the same region, natural disaster preparedness has been on virtually everyone’s mind. While there isn’t much that can be prepared for now when it comes to the ongoing disaster situation in the southeast, we can always run our minds through similar sets of circumstances for our own areas to make sure we’re prepared. What people in the southeast CAN prepare for right now is November 5th, because every Republican Senator and Representative in the southeast voted agaist increasing the Federal Emergency Management Agency's funding, knowing that Hurricane Helene was headed right towards their constituents. FEMA is going to run out of money before it's finished helping millions of people pick up and rebuild from this horrific double hurricane disaster, thanks to the efforts of one political party.
Thousands of people are dead across Appalachia. Entire towns, literally washed away. And Project 2025 plans to not only defund FEMA, but eliminate the National Oceanic and Atmoshperic Administration which gives people enough advance warning that most of them can evacuate from the path of a major hurricane.
