Rejoice! More B&T Suppressors Hit The U.S. Market

To say that I am excited is a bit of an understatement. Knowing that more B&T suppressors are bound for U.S. shores is a great way to kick off the year. In fact, since B&T will be at the 2022 SHOT Show Industry Day At The Range, there’s a good chance we’ll get a first-hand look at B&T’s reduced back pressure subgun and rifle suppressors in just a few days. B&T makes well engineered guns and gear; the challenge has always been getting them into American’s hands.

The Rimfire Report: SilencerCo Switchback Modular Suppressor

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its various guns, gear, accessories, ammunition, and well, suppressors! Suppressors are a great safety device for keeping your hearing in peak condition or at the very least, preventing further damage from occurring. Even though a lot of rimfire cartridges are fairly quiet even without suppressors, other rimfire cartridges like .17 HMR, .17 HM2, 5mm RFM, and .17 WSM can be insanely loud at the ear. While I don’t suspect most of you are firing those cartridges in high volume like you would .22LR, they can still pose a significant hearing damage risk even with just a handful of unprotected shots while out hunting small game. That’s why it always helps to have a rimfire suppressor ready to mount when you need it. I was fortunate enough to be able to receive a demo copy of the SilencerCo Switchback modular rimfire suppressor and I have been testing it on a variety of my rimfire guns to get a feel for how it works, what I like about it, and what I think its best suited for.

TFB Behind The Gun Podcast Episode #34: Dave Matheny With Silencer Shop

Silencers have become one of the most popular firearm accessories from their relatively obscure origins. Despite their increased popularity, suppressors still tend to be items a lot of people aren’t willing to go through the hassle of getting mostly because of the intimidating paperwork you have to deal with (I’m sure the $200 tax stamp is not helping either). Dave Matheny started Silencer Shop in the hopes of eliminating the hassle that is normally involved with gaining access to a suppressor and today on the TFB Behind The Gun Podcast, Pete talks with Dave about how Silencer Shop Started and also what his go-to weapons setup is in the event of the apocalypse. Be sure to give this one a listen as Silencer Shop has been a strong supporter of our podcast and it has truly been an honor to work with the folks there and support them as much as we can from the blog and the podcast.

New Release: Energetic Armament ARX 5.56mm Suppressor

To the uninitiated, suppressing the 5.56/.223 AR-15 feels like a no-win scenario. As Ted Lasso might say it’s like drinking 3.2% beer as a teenager: half the fun, with all of the headache. In reality, however, a well-engineered 5.56mm suppressor will knock down most of the blast, hold up to blistering abuse, and have minimal impact on the gas system and the cyclic rate. Not only that, but a really good AR-15 suppressor will be lightweight and offer a variety of mounting options. The new Energetic Armament ARX appears to check all of these boxes.

With the ongoing and continually increasing proliferation of sound suppressor usage in many areas of the firearms industry, new manufacturers with new innovations have been frequently cropping up for quite some time now. One company that has gained some notoriety in recent years is OSS Suppressors. This Utah-based operation’s principal claim to fame comes in the form of their patented “Flow-Through” silencer design. Cans with this unique engineering system are advertised as having the ability to eliminate gas blowback by redirecting the gases forward, through a helical system of internal chambers and out of a series of edge-positioned ports at the front of the silencer. Recall Alert: Thunder Beast Ultra Gen2 and Dominus Suppressors

Any firearms-related recall is always unfortunate. Companies typically invest a significant amount of time, effort, and resources into their products’ research and development. They want to do all they can to ensure that by the time their product heads out the door into the waiting hands of distributors, retailers, and customers, it’s been well-made and thoroughly tested. Thunder Beast Arms Corporation, or TBAC for short, is no different. They’ve been putting plenty of sweat equity and passion into their suppressors for years, and normally have solid results. Unfortunately, occasionally things can and do go wrong for all of us, and one of those snafus has hit TBAC. If you have one of their Dominus or Ultra Gen2 cans that was manufactured last year, please be sure to read the following recall announcement that was just released, and check your silencer’s serial number.
