Taurus has introduced a pair of survival kits that feature the company’s handguns.  According to Taurus, the kits are “designed to assist you for the first 24 hours of a horrific catastrophe.”  One kit is built around the Taurus Judge, while the second features the model 617 revolver.

In September last year the São Paulo State Military Police (PMSP) recalled 96,000 Taurus 24/7 DS pistols because a number of them were able to be be discharged without pulling the trigger. We published a short clip showing a faulty police pistol being discharged but yesterday a reader emailed us a link to the full clip showing an unidentified person firing the 24/7 simply by flicking his wrist. Its scary stuff.

The View is a new .38 Special revolver from Taurus based on the Taurus Model 85. Its named as such because of a translucent side plate.

Taurus has released a new 9mm carbine onto the US market, which prompts the question: why do people buy 9mm carbines?

Last month we announced that Taurus was shipping their new 9mm Taurus CT9 carbine. The company has just announced they are now shipping both the CT9 and the .40 S&W version the CT40. These guns have been a long time coming.

Taurus recently announced on their Facebook page that they’re now shipping their CT9 Carbine that has been in development for quite some time. Chambered in 9mm, the Brazilian made carbine comes with one 10 round magazine, a Picatinny rail up top, adjustable iron sights and is made with both polymer and metal components. It comes in a blued finish with an overall length of 36″ and weights in at 6.6lbs without a magazine.  If you’re wondering why they only come with a 10 round magazine, it’s to comply with pesky 922(r)laws that won’t let you build a rifle with more than 10 imported parts. The magazine itself is considered three parts: the follower, floorplate and mag body. I give it a few months before Taurus USA comes out with American made hi-capacity mags.

Pachmayr announced the introduction of new grips for Taurus brand revolvers.  The Diamond Pro series grips are made of a rubber blend and have a diamond plate texture.  The backstrap is covered and there are finger grooves in the grips.

To demonstrate how effective their screen protectors are, Clear Plex mounted a Taurus Public Defender .410 on a custom made eight propellor multi-copter (octocopter) and fired at a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone. I am sure they used a low power .410 load designed for birds or other pests, not a high powered self-defense load, but nonetheless the video is pretty nifty.

Bloomberg.com reports here that the Freedom Group firearms companies, which were put up for sale last month by Cerberus, have a suitor with cash in hand. Taurus! It turns out that the Brazilian company is the second largest firearms manufacturer in the world in terms of revenue, below Smith and Wesson and above Sturm Ruger.

Taurus is showing a variety of their firearms in different colors:  black, tan, pink and purple.  Nevermind all of the blued and stainless handguns.

Most shooters know the Taurus “Judge” has been on the market for years. In addition to the original model there have been several new variations released over the years with the PD being one of the newest.

Along with their new assault rifles Taurus has begun production of their two new submachine guns the SMT9 and SMT40 chambered in 9x19mm and .40 S&W respectively.

This video shows pictures of the Taurus CT556 broken down and being fired at the range. The semi-automatic 5.56mm Taurus CT556, and its fully automatic big brother the ART556, was unveiled last year in Brazil.

Taurus USA has acquired Heritage Manufacturing, a Floridian manufacturer specializing in old west style single action revolvers. Heritage main product line is their Rough Rider .22 LR/Mag combo revolver although they also make single action revolvers chambered in .32 H&R Mag, .45 LC and .357 Magnum.
