DeSantis is selling a unique product called the Bag-Packer.  The system is a combination of backer board and holster that can be inserted into many different kinds of purses or messenger bags.

The Rail Ryder from DeSantis is a minimalist, inside-the-waistband holster that secures the firearm by using the gun’s accessory rail.  The entire gun is not surrounded by material, so it does not meet the traditional description of a holster.  In fact, DeSantis calls this a “…comfortable alternative to a holster.”

DeSantis announced a new purse holster called the “Hide and Chic.”  The purse is designed to conceal a variety of handguns ranging in size from the Ruger LCP to the Glock 17.

Two 19 year old rob, armed with baseball bat and a handgun, rob an internet cafe. A 71 year old man pulls out his legal conceal carry handgun, fires at them and pursues them until they are out of the cafe. The cafe surveillance cameras captured the incident.

The Kahr CW9 is a 9mm pistol from the company’s value line (read: less expensive) of pistols that include the CW40 (.40 S&W) and CW45 (.45 ACP).  I’ve been looking for a single stack 9mm for concealed carry, so I jumped at the chance to review this gun.

One of the major product launches at SHOT Show was the launch of the S&W Bodyguard Series.

Ruger is set to announce the new compact version of their SR9 pistol. The press released was leaked online (Well done Richard!). The pistol features a short 3.5″ barrel, is chambered in 9mm and its standard magazine holds 10 rounds (17 round high-cap available). I will update the blog as soon as Ruger officially announces it and photos are published.

Legal Heat is an iPhone / iPod Touch electronic version of the CCW guide Legal Heat: 50 State Guide to Firearm Laws and Regulations. At $1.99 is it a lot cheaper than the $15 paperback edition.

The short answer is “absolutely”, and the longer answer is “yes, think of it as a hot 9mm.”

Sig Sauer is now producing an “R” model of their .45 ACP chambered SIG P220 Compact pistol. The P220R Compact does away with the beaver tail, reducing the frame length by 0.5″, and adds an accessory rail.

I recently blogged about boot pistols, a type of early CCW gun carried during the Civil War and postbellum era. The feminine equivalent of the boot pistol was the muff gun. (the name refers to the original definition , not the modern day slang). They were the same sort of concept just smaller and would have probably fired a smaller load (please correct me if I am wrong).

I saw over at Guns Holsters and Gear that Hornady will be selling a new line of ammunition next year (2009) that is specifically designed for civilian self defense and for use in common carry handguns.
