Today the subject is carrying a 1911. According to Springfield Armory, the Enhanced Micro Pistol (EMP) is the smallest 1911 in the world.

Detonics is a company known for making a variety of shotguns right from the Czech Republic. Since the Czech Republic is one of the few European countries that codifies their citizen’s right to keep and bear arms for the purposes of self-defense, it is no wonder that Detonics has rolled into IWA 2022 with one of their newest and most interesting self-defense weapons – the Detonics Gladiator 50 caliber black powder double-barrel derringer pistol.

KelTec unveiled a brand new micro 9mm pistol at SHOT 2022, the P15. It is very much a part of the current trend of ever higher capacity micro concealed pistols. The P15 takes its name from the 15-round magazine that comes with the gun. A 12-round flush fit magazine is included as well.

CZ has just announced their newest version of the P-10 pistol, the P-10 M, which is configured as a “micro-compact” pistol marketed for concealed carry. The CZ P-10 M is imported from the factory in the Czech Republic, which released this model last year overseas. The M model of the P-10 family has a capacity of 7(+1) rounds. Interestingly, CZ opted to omit the usual external controls such as a slide stop and safety, save the trigger and magazine release. The new CZ P-10 M is also marketed as being very simple to disassemble for cleaning, just by removing the take-down pin. CZ also reduced the P-10 M’s width to one inch, which is a quarter of an inch slimmer than the rest of the P-10 series. CZ’s description of the CZ P-10 M can be read below.

Kimber is well known for making 1911 handguns. Well, they are putting their hat in the ring for high capacity, subcompact, striker-fired CCW handguns. The Kimber R7 Mako is their new champion and the competition should take notice.

Telor Tactical is a Georgia-based holster company. They make holsters for all manners of concealment, as well as 40mm round carriers, masks, and even seat cushions. I was recently tasked with reviewing three of their holsters: the Comfort-Air ITW Holster, the Comfort-Air Bodyband Holster, and the Comfort-Air LE Ankle Holster. As the winter months march on and we start to approach spring, people will begin to venture out of their winter hold ups and start outdoor activities once again. Wright-Patterson Airforce Base will soon allow concealed carry permit holders from Ohio and states with reciprocity to request approval for the transport of personal firearms to and from the installation. Privately Owned Firearms will be allowed inside one’s vehicle while on base but they have to be unloaded.

Springfield, Missouri-based CrossBreed have announced that holsters from across their range are now compatible with the new Taurus G3c which launched at the beginning of the week. CrossBreed have worked with Taurus to ensure their holsters fit the new Taurus compact 9mm pistol. The G3c compatible range includes inside the waistband, belly bands and outside the waistband options.

Stoeger introduced the full size STR-9 back in January 2019, now they have announced a compact version of their affordable 9mm striker-fired pistol. Stoeger now take aim at the CCW market with STR-9 Compact which has an overall length of 6.9 inches and weighs in at 24 ounces.

I have made many, many mistakes in my life. Some are hysterical to look back on and make for great stories. Some cause me to physically cringe as I’m falling asleep and will remain unspoken until the day I die. Or get sufficiently drunk. Anyway. The point is, you are supposed to learn from your mistakes. But you should also learn from other people’s mistakes whenever you can. That way, you don’t have to make the same mistakes as them. Instead, you can create brand new mistakes that are all your own. With that philosophy in mind, here are the top 5 mistakes I personally made while concealed carrying.

Ruger have again expanded their popular Ruger American line of pistols with the .45 ACP Ruger American Compact now available with an attractive gray Cerakote finish on both the grip frame and the slide. This new offering comes with or without a manual safety.

The trend towards smaller, slimmer and overall more compact concealed carry pistols continues to grow. FN has just announced the release of the FN 503 – a sub six inch pistol chambered in 9mm and designed for everyday carry. Magazine capacity starts at six for the standard mag and increases to eight with the included extension and grip sleeve version.
