In Part 1 of the TacFlow Academy Large Caliber Rifle Instructors Course, I covered training, safety, and the standards. Now, in part two, we’ll take a deeper dive into equipment, shooting position, and something called “The Three Ugly Sisters”. Let’s dive back in and see what information you know or need to know before your next trip to the range.

Now, Virtual-Shot/Simulation Training Group has updated the Virtual-Shot app with a new five-course Pistol Basics training tutorial instructed by a former Australian Special Forces Commando who teaches advanced pistol and urban combat skills.
TacFlow Academy's Large Caliber Rifle Instructors Course – Part 1
Santa Clara, CA played host to the TacFlow Academy’s Large Caliber Rifle Instructors Course. This strictly LE/MIL instructors course is where sniper teams from around the country come to learn even more about their .338 Lapua Magnum and .50 BMG rifles. This is no retreat and the course involves running, studying, and shooting during all 50 hours of coursework. I received an invite to this class from TacFlow’s Director of Sniper Training Mark Lang and had a week to train with SWAT Sniper teams from across the United States.

Concealed Carry Corner: Ways to Draw Faster
When it comes to training for self-defense, there are typically three vital parts to successfully protecting yourself. The biggest step is avoidance at all cost, you win every fight you’re never in so that’s the biggest step to remaining safe. The second step is draw stroke and ultimately if things get bad enough the third is shot placement. Pulling your firearm should be absolutely the last resort but there are occasions when there’s no other choice. We’ve talked a few times about certain drills for shot placement and working on your pistol accuracy under stress. One thing we haven’t really looked at is draw stroke and some tips to give you the upper hand when it comes to a faster draw stroke. Let’s take a closer look at ways to draw faster.
POTD: Bilateral Breach and Clear Native Fury 20
Roy Batty from Blade Runner said: “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain…” ( Source) But have you seen breaching like this? In our Photo Of The Day, we have U.S. Marines with the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion and a United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces soldier showing how to breach in an urban environment during the Native Fury 20 exercise.
TFB Review: Virtual-Shot Mobile Shooting Simulation System
Last year’s ammunition crisis is probably over but we’re still left with its lingering effects. Despite the cost of ammunition, the importance of training and practice still hasn’t changed and that is why many have adopted the use of dry fire training devices like the Mantis X system, or even the Stikeman Laser Firearms training system. These systems can be a great training tool whether you’re at home or traveling and can be a solid supplement to live-fire training exercises. Virtual-Shot is one of the newer training simulation devices on the market and it combines dry fire practice with augmented reality technology through the use of your phone to provide you with a fun method of practice that you can do from the comfort of your home. Today we’ll be reviewing the Virtual-Shot Mobile Shooting Simulation System and its associated mobile application to see how it stacks up against the current lineup of other at-home firearms training devices.
TFB Review: Aggressive Defensive Solutions Firearm Courses
Throughout my life, there’ve been a few things I’ve always wanted to cross off my bucket list. After being cooped up for over a year, I decided early in 2022 that I would travel around the country for various training courses. A friend recently told me about a small training company in the northern part of North Carolina that I had to check out. I hopped in my truck and made my way down to Moyock, NC for quite the weekend. Let’s take a closer look at my experience with Aggressive Defensive Solutions firearms courses.

Quick Look: Evolve Range Solutions – Live Fire Digital Targeting
In my search for a few select models of Knight’s Armament rifle suppressors for reviews on TFB’s Silencer Saturday, I have contacted hundreds of FFL/SOT dealers across the United States hoping to get lucky and find one collecting dust on the shelf. I was pleasantly surprised to find that an overwhelming majority of dealers took the time to reply and tell me that I was on a fool’s errand – KAC QDC suppressors are back-ordered for at least a year while they fulfill military contracts. It’s one of the reasons I love the firearms industry and how I came to meet Alex Hague from Victory Range (VRA) and Armory and Evolve Range Solutions.

POTD: SIG Sauer P229R DAK
In our Photo Of The Day we visit the Coast Guard Base in Honolulu to take a closer look at the SIG Sauer P229R DAK pistol in action. DAK stands for Double Action Kellerman and according to Wikipedia, the Kellerman action is “a variant of traditional double-action used on certain SIG Sauer semi-automatic pistols. DAK triggers have a long stroke with 29 N (6.5 lbf) pull. However, if a user shooting under stress short-strokes the trigger by only releasing it halfway, the trigger will reset, but with a 38 N (8.5 lbf) pull. This temporary increased trigger pull is intended to prevent negligent discharges.” ( Source)
