The European Best Sniper Team Competition is over but continues to deliver amazing photos for TFB’s Photo Of The Day. The videos I’ve seen from this competition show some really difficult and demanding stages, to differentiate the teams from each other. Here we can see Greek snipers searching and engaging targets during the European Best Sniper Team Competition at Hohenfels, Germany, (Aug. 11, 2021).

Welcome back to the  Photo Of The Day! Here is the place where we honor outstanding photos and the person behind the camera. Above you’re looking at a German Army Sniper adjusting his scope during morning shooting rehearsals at the International Specialty Training Center’s (ISTC) Desert Sniper Course. The location is Chinchilla, Spain and the event took place earlier this year in July. Below you see a Dutch Special Forces sniper.

Photo Of The Day – Established in 2014 this is TFB’s way to show carefully selected photographs on a daily basis. Today we have photos of the Danish Army’s 2nd Armored Infantry Battalion soldiers. They are conducting a live-fire exercise called “Wild Leopard”. The location is the well-known Grafenwoehr Training Area in Germany. The purpose of the exercise was to train platoon and company-sized infantry forces together in wooded and urban terrain

I recently had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with Dan Brokos. Dan Brokos is the owner and primary instructor of Lead Faucet Tactical. Lead Faucet Tactical is a veteran-owned company that specializes in pistol classes, carbine classes, CQB classes, and urban fighting classes which are available for both private citizens as well as military and law enforcement agencies. Dan Brokos is a 27 year military veteran with 21 of those years being spent in the SOF community. Not only is Dan a phenomenally accurate pistol shooter, he is also fast as lightning on top of that. Myself and a group of other shooters were treated to an ad hoc two-day pistol training course focused on red dot optics and I asked Dan for a short interview where he could give our readers some quick tips for improving their pistol shooting performance. Dan likes to keep things simple and to the point so he provided some very succinct and logical approaches and I think a lot of us can benefit from his knowledge and experience.

Our Photo Of The Day brings some French cuisine to the table. I understand why the manufacturer abbreviated “Fusil d’Assaut de la Manufacture d’Armes de Saint-Étienne” the way they did. FAMAS is a lot easier to pronounce and remember. Don’t you agree?

Those of you who shoot long range or frequently swap optics between rifles are in for a treat. Sport Ridge has just released a new lineup of Premium Precision Sight-In Targets in a few different varieties for a number of different firearm and optic types. The new targets are available for order now and feature a self-adhesive backing and even double-sided features depending on the type of weapon and optic you’re trying to sight in.

Over the last few months, I have gotten countless messages about people wanting to train for concealed carry but aren’t sure what to focus on right away. Combine the fact we had a significant uptick in new conceal carriers, the fact ammo has gotten so scarce, it can be tough to really train using minimal ammo. With certain people dealing with one or both of the issues above, it can be tricky figuring out what to work on when it comes to practicing for concealed carry. Let’s dive into the top 3 shooting mechanics to practice for carrying a concealed handgun.

It’s that time of the year again when some of the best sniper teams in the world gather to compete in the European Best Sniper Team Competition. Above you can spot a Lithuanian soldier as he scans a field for targets in a downed aircraft. The pictures are taken in Hohenfels Training Area, Germany.

Photo Of The Day and we have a cool picture above of Nigerian Navy sailors that participate in a visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) exercise aboard the Expeditionary Sea Base USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB 4) earlier in August 2021. As you can see, they are using the Israeli Tavor bullpup rifle, which is designed and produced by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI). These barrels look really short, so I’m guessing they are using the Tavor CTAR Integral, with Mepro  21 day-night self-illuminated reflex sights.

Pictures of Special Forces from North Macedonia are not so common, but in our Photo Of The Day, we have some examples. Here they can be seen together with U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers demonstrating room-clearing tactics during the Trojan Footprint 21 exercise, held in May 2021.

Do you love photography? Without images TFB would not be the same. TFB has been running our very special Photo Of The Day series for years, sharing great photos from around the world and the world of firearms onto the screen you’re looking at right now. Today we have various rifles from Accuracy International, including their AWM model (L-115A3 LRSR). AWM is short for Arctic Warfare Magnum, indicating the caliber is  .338 Lapua Magnum. Spain also uses the AI AW in 7.62x51mm. The camouflage painting on these rifles looks quite effective for blend into the nature. Also note the front Picatinny rail, most likely there to accommodate night vision or thermal imaging devices. 

Ever since photography was invented in the early 1800s, it has been a medium of almost limitless possibilities. From the beginning, the availability was extremely limited until today where most people have at least one smartphone or camera to capture what’s going on around. Here at TFB, we’ve been running our Photo Of The Day for longer than we can (almost) remember. This is the place where we share the best photos we can find, quite often from Special Forces. Today we are taking a look at pictures from the Black Swan 21 annual multinational special operations forces exercise.

Photo Of The Day and the  173rd Airborne Brigade is back with some more images. We’re looking at platoon exercise evaluations in the Hohenfels Training Area (Germany) where The Rock and the 8e RPIMa from France spent some time together. The training was a part of Exercise Rock Topside II, taking place at the Joint Multinational Training Center in Hohenfels, Germany. Above we have a HK416F with an EOTech sight. Yellow means it’s been configured for training.

Another day another Photo Of The Day: This collection comes from the  173rd Airborne Brigade where U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to Able Company, 2nd Infantry Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, can be seen laying down suppressive fire while assaulting an objective. This happened during the African Lion 21 exercise, on the Grier Labouie Airbase, Morocco, June 10, 2021.

Photo Of The Day and we’re looking at the 1st Battalion of the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment Fire Support Group (FSG) who are out in the tussock sharpening their skills in Waiouru. They trained with multiple weapons, including the M107A1 Anti-Materiel Rifle, Heckler & Koch 40mm Grenade Machine Gun, FGM-148 Javelin Anti-Tank Missile and MAG-58 Sustained Fire Machine Gun.

Above you see a Swedish infantryman in a firefight with his Ak5 ( FN FNC) near the Norwegian village of Drevsjo. This happened during the NATO exercise Trident Juncture, in Norway, in November 2018. Trident Juncture 2018 was NATO’s largest exercise in many years, bringing together around 50,000 personnel from all 29 allies, plus partners Finland and Sweden. Around 65 vessels, 250 aircraft and 10,000 vehicles participated.

From time to time it happens. We got a fan mail and a private contribution to our Photo Of The Day. Attached was an image taken at this year’s USASOC Sniper Competition at Fort Bragg. This competition happened a few months ago, and the image shows one of the Special Forces soldiers whom Team France sent to compete. He is running a B&T Rotex-V suppressor, as they all do on their Heckler & Koch HK416s. We love quality contributions like this.

Photo Of The Day: Today we’re going to look at U.S. soldiers doing the German Armed Forces badge of marksmanship called Schuetzenschnur. This decoration can be awarded to German military personnel of all grades, but only enlisted members are allowed to wear the badge. Soldiers qualifying for the Schuetzenschnur have to fire both the H&K P8 A1 pistol and the H&K G36 rifle, and are eligible for bronze, silver, and gold awards based on their score in the two events.

Trojan Footprint is Special Operations Command Europe’s annual exercise to demonstrate proficiencies, assess the readiness and lethality of countries’ respective forces, and continue improving interoperability with allies and partners.

Welcome to the TFB Podcast Roundup 2: This week we’ve got a fresh new variety of podcasts as well as one special throwback episode featuring the legendary Chuck Pressburg from Presscheck Consulting. I was drawn back to this particular podcast because of the recent uptick in activity surrounding the Next Generation Squad Weapon. In the podcast, Chuck goes on to explain why we’ve historically gone with lighter calibers over larger ones and why we’ve often opted to go with smaller calibers to carry more ammunition. We’ll save that one for the end and instead start this week out with Vortex Nation’s excellent podcast in which they take 10 minutes to talk about a 6.5 Creedmoor life hack they think you should all know.

You’re looking at another Photo Of The Day and today we have some Russian Marines demonstrating an amphibious landing operation. In total, about 500 military personnel of the Russian Marine Corps were involved, including 10 ships, boats and vessels and more than 30 units of automobiles and other special equipment.

The amphibious forces are part of 17 NATO Allies and partner nations that are integrated in air, land, and sea operations to improve their combined-force capability to work together and to respond to threats in the Baltic region.

Photo Of The Day – TFB is now on our 7:th year of bringing you high-quality photographs from the world of firearms every day. The world is full of stories and photographs and today we focus on Special Forces Green Berets assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group, as they fire their M4 carbines.

The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School is conveniently abbreviated to USAJFKSWCS. In our Photo Of The Day, we’re going to look at students assigned to this school and doing the Special Forces Weapons Sergeant Course. Above you can see a student with a Steyr AUG from Austria.

Photo Of The Day: We promised a follow-up on the Celebrities vs Special Forces – Tactical Challenge 2020 and here it is! Above you can see the former NFL player Andrew East firing away at steel targets from behind a car during the Special Forces Tactical Challenge at the Miller Training Complex at Fort Bragg, NC. In total, eight teams of Green Berets and celebrities competed with pistols, battle rifles and sniper rifles against time, distance and a realistic combat environment.

TFB will be running several Photo Of The Days from the 2021 Danish International Sniper Competition. These competitions are a great source of information about which types of firearms various countries and armies use, and how they use them. There’s also a lot of other gear to admire. These photos come from the 2. Brigade in Denmark.

Photo Of The Day: The Green Berets in Okinawa (Japan), moving through ankle-high water during the 4th Marine Regiment Jungle Warfare Exercise at the Jungle Warfare Training Center. During the exercise, they trained forward reconnaissance, terrain analysis, practice using a variety of communication platforms, small unit tactics and patient extraction procedures.
