Mod Zero – Multiple Guns But Same Optic

Mod Zero is coming out with an interesting concept. It is an adjustable picatinny rail system that you put on your rifles. You zero your optic of choice then swap the optic to another rifle with the Mod Zero rail system. Of course the optic will not have the same zero as the previous rifle setup. But you can adjust the Mod Zero. You zero the rail and then you can swap the optic across multiple guns that have the Mod Zero rail.

PSA-Flying with Firearm PARTS? Don't EVEN!

We at TFB realize the substantial work that the Transportation Security Administration does to protect the skies above the United States, on a 24/7 basis. However, the frustrations and tribulations of one being passionate about firearms can cause concerns at the airport. We’ve covered flying with actual firearms very thoroughly in a post about a legal expert explaining the issue, and even confiscated firearms. However, something that has arisen to the attention of TFB is the laws governing parts. I went through an experience back in October, but have always been of the opinion that a magazine, a scope, maybe a stock weren’t items that the TSA cared about. Actual ammunition and firearms are of course something that we need to be aware of when transiting through airports, but mere parts?

BrRrRRRrrrr… The Chamber Chiller

Much of the time spent at the range can often be waiting on a weapon to cool. With semi-auto triggers able to take weapons to near cyclic speeds or bolt-action barrels needing to keep cool to protect the barrel, heat is a major problem on weapons. Its why we have handguards.

Innovative B.A.D.S M240 pouch released

Mounting Solutions Plus is a Florida-based company that is announcing the release for export of an innovative M240 belt pouch system that is designed to supersede currently issued 50 round belt pouches designed for the 7,62x51mm NATO M240 general purpose machine gun in efficiency. The company also has a similar design specifically for the Rheinmetall MG3 as well. What differentiates this pouch from existing 50 round “contact” pouches is that it curves underneath the machine gun to the right, whereas with the current 50 round pouch, it simply drops off the left side of an M240 and hangs on the left side, thus off-centering the machine gun. The reason why a pouch like this wasn’t designed in the first place was that the 240 ejects spent cases directly down and would thus be ejecting cartridges into the ammunition feeding device. How the Balanced Ammunition Delivery System (B.A.D.S) surmounts this task is through incorporating a ramp where spent cartridges hit the ramp at an angle and then bounce to the 3 o’clock position of the M240. In addition, because of the extra space underneath the machine gun, the entire fixture now allows a 240 gunner to hold 100-125 rounds instead of 50 in a contact belt.

TFB Review: G.P.S "Handgunner" Shooting backpack

Go Outdoors Products is a Chino, California-based gear company that focuses on the shooting accessories and gear that make range trips that much more enjoyable and hassle free. The company has been around for a little while now, and much of their line of products has been out on the market, online, and in numerous gun stores across the nation and possible internationally too. So although they aren’t the next new awesome device or brand, they make products that in my opinion are very well thought out at the budget price you are getting them at.

Just a disclaimer, but the grip tape stripe on the slide of the Shield is not included in the Talon Grips purchase.

ISDEF 2017- Saintpro Ballistic Arm Shield

Safe Intelligent Products (Saintpro) is a Swedish security products company that was founded in 2012 by a Swedish security professional. At ISDEF 2017 in Tel Aviv the company displayed some of their new products (out for almost a year now, but currently spotlighted), and mainly of interest to TFB is their forearm ballistic shield within the Saint Shield X3 series, specifically the DX3 (NIJ standard IIIA TT 7,62×25 MSC Flat) and DX3+ (NIJ III plus AK 7,62×39 MSC Flat) systems. These ballistic shields take a different approach to shield systems in general, being able to be attached to a user’s forearm or kept in a nylon holster that can be mounted to a belt. To be deployed, one attaches the folded panels to their forearm and then rips a velcro latch that instantly deploys the two panels around the center one that is attached. With this system, a user can gain ballistic protection up to 7.62x39mm, within a somewhat more mobile and configurable platform than a full ballistic shield. Similar concepts have been experimented with, but none focusing on such a mobile platform as this one.

Gunner Wade on Boresighting an RCO with issued collimator

We previously covered 2nd Mar Div’s Combat Camera productions  involving Gunner Wade and suppressor Fact or Fiction series, but the 2nd Marine Division Gunner is back at it again, this time he is covering how to properly boresight a service rifle and RCO using an issued collimator (although he is using his personal rifle in the video). The process is extremely simple, but if done incorrectly, can result in a very long day of zeroing. After inserting the device in the muzzle of an M16A4, M4, or M27, essentially there is that little diagram inside the collimator, that lines up within the RCO or SDO, and Marines have to match up the 100 meter marker that is the tip of the red chevron (“tip of the d**k” as we say in the Infantry) to the proper diagram within the collimator. However, the video is somewhat misconstrued because this is truly only half the process of zero. The other half involves actually shooting 10 rounds (2 groups of 3, then 1 group of 4 to confirm) at 25 meters to get the RCO or SDO zeroed properly, then another group at 100 meters to get the 100-meter confirmation.

Wiley X has recently added a new set of eye protection to the company’s 2017 line up. The release mentions that the company is really working on polarity, with numerous new features designed to cut back on glare. This looks like it would really help out fishermen or people who routinely work on the water, but it probably couldn’t hurt in other professions that spend time outdoors and in sunny environments.

Strike Industries 2017 Product Release

California-based Strike Industries has released several videos detailing new products the company is bringing to the AR15 accessories market. We previously covered the Viper PDW stock and the cold hammer forged barrels that come in 10.3 and 16 inches earlier. Apart from the stock and barrels, Strike is coming out with an enhanced trigger guards called the Cobra and Fang. These are made from billet aluminum and come in a number of colors. They don’t swing down like many Mil-Spec trigger guards with the pop of a forward plunger (originally conceived to allow access to the trigger with a winter glove/mitten). The Cobra and Fang have index points for trigger fingers, perforated slots in the bottom (possibly for drainage of debris), and most interestingly a sort of magazine guide in front. This might run into issues with different profile magazines that don’t accommodate this feature. They retail from $23.95 to $25.95 depending on finish.
