Thanks to my friend Vic for letting me know about this. MK Machining is a well-known producer of 3D printed items as well as a cool bullpup chassis for the Remington 700. They produce a lot of products for other companies but they do make their own products such as their PVS-30 night vision fin.

The guys at FLUX Defense have started a new company called Antimatter Industries and they have come out with something rather interesting, the Scopeswitch. It is a rail-mounted slider and optic mount that rotates your scope’s magnification ring for you. This way you do not have to take your support hand off the handguard and maintain positive control.

Although I’m definitely dating myself with the 1990’s Home Improvement reference, I can’t help think of Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor every time I pick up my Fix It Sticks set for a project. This is a review of the Pulsar Merger LRF XP50 Thermal Binoculars. The closest thing we’ve ever had a look at here is the almost three-year-old review of the Pulsar Accolade 2 LRF XP50, and things have certainly moved on during that time. Apart from one thing, everything has been improved!

A lot of you will remember a couple of months back Nick C’s ass suffered quite a traumatic range event. Many lessons were learned that day, most notably, not to violate basic range safety rules. The biggest takeaway for me from that day was just the sheer value of simple training. That’s why today we’ve brought on both TFB’s Nick C as well as Brad Gilpin from Blue Force Gear to talk about the accident and the specific training that allowed all of us to respond to the injury quickly, efficiently, and without panic. Brad Gilpin is the Director of Medical Programming at Blue Force Gear and is a prior law enforcement professional who has served at both the state and federal levels. Newcomer gun accessory maker Partizan Solutions recently announced two new red dot mounts for ACOG scopes. The new ATLAS mounts are available in Acro or Delta Point Pro footprints.

Let’s face it, magazines are a hot-button issue for a number of reasons, and not all of them have to do with the legality or even their capacity. A lot of times magazines can become infamous or famous simply because of their availability, or lack thereof. One notable example is the current availability of FN FAL magazines. 12-15 years ago you could find them on nearly every firearm, gear, or gun classified ad for pretty cheap, probably along with a bunch of ammunition the guy bought with the gun. These days FAL magazines are quite expensive for surplus models and a lot of them are probably banged up and close to the end of their life if not past it. This is why I’m happy to see another competitor in the magazine retailer market – The Mag Shack. The Mag Shack stocks and sells thousands of OEM factory and aftermarket magazines for virtually every type of gun currently being produced, as well as firearms that are no longer produced or are very niche in nature.

There have been a few questions lately about what’s the best system to carry with and what things should be checked regularly if you carry a concealed handgun every day. Photo Of The Day: Anyone with the slightest interest in modern warfare is sure to have seen various types of drones in use, both in passive and active duties. The DroneGun Mk4 shown above reminds me of what the future looks like, yet we’re already here. The DroneGun Mk4 claims to be useful against a variety of drones and can interfere with the control, navigation, and video of numerous models.

Thankfully, suppressor use and ownership have become more and more common in recent years. As shooters become more aware of the passive dangers involved with shooting, like lead poisoning and hearing loss, steps are being taken to reduce health hazards. Suppressors are probably the most effective tool we have against hearing loss. If you didn’t hear that last sentence, it might be time to pick one up! However, silencers (or suppressors, use whichever you want, nobody cares) have some drawbacks. The primary problem is that they get very hot. This means mirage during precision shooting. It also means some very hot pants during rifle-to-pistol transitions. MODTAC, a company local to me in Colorado, makes rigid suppressor shields to mitigate both of these issues. They have a few models but today we’re looking at the MODTAC U-RAC.

We first reported about the Simtek wireless security sensor from SHOT Show 2019. In a nutshell, it is a compact portable sensor that can be placed inside a gun safe and will send a notification to the owner’s cell phone if motion or lighting changes are detected. Simtek has just announced the release of the second generation of their security sensor which compared to the Gen 1 features an upgraded antenna, 4G cellular modem, temperature and humidity monitoring, and an accelerometer that detects bumps and movement. An Egg Shoot will vary depending on the local club or match director but the basic premise is simple – Grab a bunch of 22LR rifles and some eggs and start blasting them for points during a timed relay. While the activity still sometimes uses real eggs, with the number of shooters that show up to these events it’s more common these days to see steel or paper targets used instead to reduce both cost and waste. If you want to try out one of these activities but are afraid you won’t be able to find one after Easter, you’re in luck – Egg Shoots are conducted year-round at a lot of different shooting clubs. My concealed carry holster includes a space for a spare magazine. My battle belt has pouches for carrying two or three spare magazines. Having spares readily available allows me to continue defending myself or shredding paper, but what if you aren’t wearing all of your gear.
