TFB Review: Mystery Ranch Forager Hip Pack

I am 100% in agreement with James Reeves that there are times when Fanny Pack Carry is the superior option.  For some, it may have more to do with warm weather/light clothing considerations, such as at the beach or the gym, but for me, it has more to do with when I’m wearing voluminous layers of clothing to guard against nasty weather. It’s hard to draw a handgun from my duck hunting coat, or from under longer rain gear.  To that point, when I was headed up to southeast Alaska to do a lot of fishing and hiking in bear territory, I decided to get a new fanny pack in which to carry my Glock 20.  One of the best options for a handgun that big was the Mystery Ranch Forager.

Welcome back to another week in the Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we talked about my top five carry guns if I could only have five for the rest of my life. If you missed out on last week’s article, be sure to check it out here. This week, I decided to talk about my experiences over the last few months with trying out more ways to carry off-body. I’ve talked about off-body carry in the past, but haven’t really given it a shot. I decided to give it another chance and over the last few years, I’ve actually come to realize that off-body carry does have a few great benefits depending on the situation. Let’s talk about how I started to take a new look at off-body carry,

TFB Armorer's Bench: Things in My Portable Gunsmith Kit

Welcome everyone to the  TFB Armorer’s Bench! As mentioned in the little blurb below, this series will focus on a lot of home armorer and gunsmith activities. In this article, I decided to take a peek into something that does not really make an appearance on my bench but is supposed to act like a bench on the go. I of course am talking about my gunsmith kit for lack of a better name. I take this with me on trips or to the range all the time. It is composed of away-from-home essentials, a mish-mash of tools and equipment that may not solve every illness guns can have but it works for a good short-term “just in case” scenario. I hate that feeling of needing something and not having it so that is why long ago I put together this kit. Please excuse its disorganization, things are stacked for fit not for looks. Let’s dive into my portable gunsmith kit!

TFB Review: THROOM Targets – Affordable Ricochet-Free Reactive Targets

Reactive targets are a great way to spice up any firearms training session. Not only is it great fun but the instant results you get back from the target are a great way to hone your skills by providing you with quick feedback about your accuracy. Steel targets are undisputedly the most common and popular option for reactive targets and are used in virtually every shooting discipline to provide trainees, competitors, or those just having fun, with a fun visual and audible experience that can make shooting paper targets seem boring in comparison. However, steel targets are not without their drawbacks. For one, they are quite expensive, second, they’re super heavy and often require specialized rigging equipment to get set up further increasing the cost. Finally, steel targets even when set up correctly can still throw spall and ricochets back at you or those nearby causing injury. This is where the reactive targets from THROOM shine. THROOM is in the business of making high-quality polymer targets that are a safer and more affordable alternative to steel targets. THROOM Targets recently sent me some of their target kits to review so today I’ll take you through the process of what it’s like to set them up, and how they’ve held up over the last handful of months.

TFB Weekly Web Deals 32: Bipods For Your Favorite Rifle

Hello and welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 32! Bipods have been around nearly as long as firearms. Even primitive hand cannons made as far back as the 12th century have detailed records showing that these gargantuan blasters made use of simple poles or long sticks to stabilize the shooter’s position prior to the shot. Today we do pretty much the same thing (in some cases literally the same thing) but for most of us the trusty bipod has become a more nuanced piece of equipment with some people looking for the lightest possible option, and others looking for the toughest bipods that the planet has to offer. No matter what you’re after, we’ve compiled a handful of great options that are on sale so hopefully, you can round out your latest build with a simple piece of accurizing equipment that you can take with you anywhere your rifle goes.

TFB Review: SIG Sauer P320 Spectre Comp Pistol

Let’s take a closer look at what to carry every day.

Fire Folded: Law Tactical AR Internal Carrier (ARIC)

Law Tactical is primarily known in the gun world for their AR-15 side folding stock/buffer tube adapters. While their side folding mechanisms make the AR-pattern guns much more compact for transportation, you have to deploy the stock to allow the action of the gun to cycle because as you know, part of the AR-15 rifles’ action (recoil spring and buffer) is inside the buffer tube. Well, the company now has a solution for that with their new AR Internal Carrier (ARIC) which is basically a shortened modified BCG with two side recoil springs that cycles within the upper receiver, allowing to fire the gun with a folded stock.

TFB Behind The Gun Podcast #48: MIL-SPEC Monkey

From there, Monkey was able to get real-world experience with a lot of in-use military gear and this sparked an interest that eventually lead him to where he is today. In today’s episode of the podcast me and Monkey talk about our thoughts on some products from TriggrCon 2022, how camouflage has been constantly changed and adapted over time, as well as his story on how he got into the business of making patches. Please welcome MIL-SPEC Monkey to the show!
