Joining the fray in what has to be one of the most hotly debated and argued subjects in the current firearms market is the new Unity Tactical FAST Optic Riser Mount. This new CNC machined piece of 7000 series anodized aluminum clamps onto your existing Picatinny rail and elevates your optic to a 2.25″ optical center line giving the user a more comfortable sight picture when using heavy tactical gear such as helmets, comm headsets, and gas masks.

Cold Steel has just announced the addition of a new lightweight and affordable EDC folder line of knives. The new Verdict series of EDC folders feature several different color variations of the GFN handle, a 3-inch stainless steel blade, and the Cold Steel Tri-Ad lock system. In addition to these standard features, the Verdict will be available in several different popular point styles – all without serrations.

I am 100% in agreement with James Reeves that there are times when Fanny Pack Carry is the superior option.  For some, it may have more to do with warm weather/light clothing considerations, such as at the beach or the gym, but for me, it has more to do with when I’m wearing voluminous layers of clothing to guard against nasty weather. It’s hard to draw a handgun from my duck hunting coat, or from under longer rain gear.  To that point, when I was headed up to southeast Alaska to do a lot of fishing and hiking in bear territory, I decided to get a new fanny pack in which to carry my Glock 20.  One of the best options for a handgun that big was the Mystery Ranch Forager.

Midwest Industries recently released a new AK Light & Laser Mount for AKM pattern rifles that attaches to the barrel. The new AK Light & Laser mount features two 1913 Picatinny rails, one on each side, with 2.1 inches of space for mounting, well, lights and lasers. The mount also has a cutout to allow for the cleaning rod to remain in place under the barrel. Midwest Industries’ specs can be found below.

I’ve talked about off-body carry in the past, but haven’t really given it a shot. I decided to give it another chance and over the last few years, I’ve actually come to realize that off-body carry does have a few great benefits depending on the situation. Let’s talk about how I started to take a new look at off-body carry,

Good shoes take you to good places, and apart from underwear, are probably the most important part of any EDC, Every Day Carry.

Followers are probably one of the most frequently upgraded parts on tube magazine shotguns. The main feature of most aftermarket followers is better visual and tactile identification of an empty magazine. Aridus Industries has introduced their version of a shotgun follower called SMRT Aridus Follower (SMRT-AF) which besides the mentioned feature also is designed to work reliably with magazine extensions. Let’s see if it is as smart as claimed.

A good CCW/EDC belt is a confluence of functionality, comfort, durability, and – yes – style.  Black Arch set out to check all of those boxes with their EDC Belt.  Best of all, whether you carry inside the waistband or outside, tucked shirt or untucked, this belt is as discreet as can be.  It doesn’t scream “gun”, yet provides all the functions of a good gun belt.

Strike Industries is well known for having some of the most popular aftermarket AR-15 accessories on the market and today they’ve just announced their new AR-10 Enhanced Lower Receiver Parts Kit (less trigger, hammer, disconnector, pistol grip, and trigger guard). The parts that are omitted are likely already going to have been selected by someone who is building their own AR-10 and the new Enhanced Lower Receiver Parts Kit from Strike Industries includes some upgraded basics that someone might want to add to their build.

Luth-AR have released a new AR pistol grip called  Wing Grip which is basically an improved and ambidextrous version of their Chubby Grip. Compared to the latter, the Wing Grip is completely symmetrical with an identical palm swell geometry on either side, a circular palm shelf and an ambidextrous thumb shelf. Other differences from the Chubby Grip include the stippling-like texture on the top portion of the backstrap, rear horizontal serrations, and lack of texture over the thumb shelves which are replaced with Freedom Flag panels for Maximum Freedom.

Stern Defense have announced the availability of their  Rapid Attach Buttstock Adapter (RAB-AD) which was introduced at TriggrCon 2022. This device is installed on the AR-15 buffer tube and lower receiver allowing to quickly detach the two parts from each other for ease of transportation and storage.

This is a review of the InfiRay Clip 1 CE2 and Jerry C C5 clip-on thermal imagers (COTI). These small wonders of technology will snap directly onto the ring of a PVS-14 night vision device. Once set and installed, you will get configurable thermal detection capabilities on top of your night vision.

Shortly after the release of their HK MP5 trigger, Timney Triggers announced yet another expansion of their extensive product line by introducing the Impact Shotgun (Impact SG) trigger which is designed for AR-style semi-auto shotguns. Describing the design of this new trigger, Timney points out that “all trigger parts have been engineered for excellence and are precision machined from premium materials to guarantee a lifetime of dependable service”. Welcome everyone to the  TFB Armorer’s Bench! As mentioned in the little blurb below, this series will focus on a lot of home armorer and gunsmith activities. In this article, I decided to take a peek into something that does not really make an appearance on my bench but is supposed to act like a bench on the go. I of course am talking about my gunsmith kit for lack of a better name. I take this with me on trips or to the range all the time. It is composed of away-from-home essentials, a mish-mash of tools and equipment that may not solve every illness guns can have but it works for a good short-term “just in case” scenario. I hate that feeling of needing something and not having it so that is why long ago I put together this kit. Please excuse its disorganization, things are stacked for fit not for looks. Finnish ammunition manufacturer Lapua have announced the suspension of some of their ammunition components due to “continued high product demand and the prevailing market conditions”. In the announcement, Lapua pointed to the ongoing “Ukraine situation” putting pressure on the availability of some materials used in ammunition production.

Reactive targets are a great way to spice up any firearms training session. Not only is it great fun but the instant results you get back from the target are a great way to hone your skills by providing you with quick feedback about your accuracy. Steel targets are undisputedly the most common and popular option for reactive targets and are used in virtually every shooting discipline to provide trainees, competitors, or those just having fun, with a fun visual and audible experience that can make shooting paper targets seem boring in comparison. However, steel targets are not without their drawbacks. For one, they are quite expensive, second, they’re super heavy and often require specialized rigging equipment to get set up further increasing the cost. Finally, steel targets even when set up correctly can still throw spall and ricochets back at you or those nearby causing injury. This is where the reactive targets from THROOM shine. Ascalon Arms is a firearm accessories manufacturer from Brno, Czech Republic, founded by Jiří Šlechta, a former handgun designer at CZUB. The company is specialized in making aftermarket parts for CZ firearms. Their newest product called Last Round Backstrap is a rather interesting accessory for CZ P-10C pistols. It’s a backstrap that can store a 9x19mm round inside it!

IR laser aiming and illumination devices are becoming more and more popular every year in the civilian market. Originally developed for military and law enforcement, Wilcox has announced that they will be making the RAID Xe commercially available. The RAID Xe is an update to the original RAID X that features a few minor changes to the housing and the control switch to allow for multiple mode activation options as well as allow the user to offset mount the device when rail space is limited.

Grey Man Tactical’s expanding line of Rigid MOLLE Panel (RMP) series vehicle and bag accessories has just been updated with a new package deal specifically kitted out and customized for UTVs and hunters. Thew new UTV Dual Horizontal Gun Rack kit comes with all the hardware needed to mount two long guns to the rack, as well as a few additional accessories for stowing extra gear and equipment you might need on your next hunt or patrol across your private property.

Streamlight has added new Low Profile Tactical Lights with either red or green lasers suitable for subcompact handguns. The red laser version is named TLR-8 sub and the green laser is TLR-8 G sub. Both come with a 500-lumen light. Streamlight claims that the light runs for 1.5 hours and the laser for 11 hours, on a single CR123A lithium battery. Furthermore, the light has ambidextrous rear paddle controls, a strobe function, and comes with an IPX4 water-resistance rating.

VK Integrated Systems has announced the VK320 grip module for the SIG Sauer P320 family of handguns. You can order it in black or tan, in full or EDC/Carry sizes, with the safety cut or without. The new grip modules have VK Integrated Systems’ logotype as a grip pattern and the backstraps are interchangeable. This product is made in the USA and is said to be compatible with all standard holsters and magazine base pads made for the P320.

Over the last few years, SIG has really proved the versatility of the P320 platform. In past articles, I’ve looked at the various aftermarket compensators like the Parker Mountain Machine JTTC compensators and shown they are effective at reducing muzzle rise and felt recoil. Law Tactical is primarily known in the gun world for their AR-15 side folding stock/buffer tube adapters. While their side folding mechanisms make the AR-pattern guns much more compact for transportation, you have to deploy the stock to allow the action of the gun to cycle because as you know, part of the AR-15 rifles’ action (recoil spring and buffer) is inside the buffer tube. Well, the company now has a solution for that with their new AR Internal Carrier (ARIC) which is basically a shortened modified BCG with two side recoil springs that cycles within the upper receiver, allowing to fire the gun with a folded stock.

Many of you will know the name MIL-SPEC Monkey from our previous work with him on TFBTV’s various morale patches. “Monkey”, as we call him, has been a military gear and weapons aficionado for quite some time with his study beginning within the video game industry while working on the  America’s Army video game project that was commissioned and published by the United States Army.
