TFB Extended Review: Vortex Crossfire 2 MOA Red Dot

Recently I found myself in a predicament. I am fortunate enough to shoot a lot of varying platforms of firearms from tactical shotguns, AR-15s, and other railed toys. What I did not have though was a good, versatile red dot that I could float between these platforms to keep the brass flying and the good times riding high. So I sought out to find a good, reliable, accurate and affordable red dot. All these qualifiers I tried determining in theory before peeling open my wallet and purchasing one. The red dot that I eventually bought 6 months ago and am still using is the Vortex Crossfire 2 MOA Red Dot. While I disqualified a lot of competitors in my search for something reliable, accurate and affordable, did I make the right choice?… In this TFB review, we will figure that out. Maybe after we are done you will buy one yourself, or possibly run for the hills! You can make your own decision here shortly.

TOP THIS: The Hudson H9 Gets Red Dot Ready

I have yet to pull the trigger on a Hudson H9, but the veteran-owned pistol manufacturer keeps giving me reason to break away from my love for Austrian polymer. Earlier this year Hudson introduced a threaded barrel for compensators and yes, silencers. And now the H9 gets red dot ready with the H_RD slide that has cuts and mounts for a few of the most popular MRDS. If the H_RD shoots as good as it looks, Hudson has a winner.

Panama Commandos using Tavor X95s at Fuerza Comando 2017

Recent imagery of the Latin American-based special operations competition organized by U.S. South Command has shown that some members of the Panamanian contingent were using 5.56x45mm IWI X95 select-fire carbines during the small arms live fire portion of the course. In particular, there were only two Commandos of the Panamanian team that were pictured with the X95s with a tan FDE finish. The other team members ran through the carbine portions with 5.56x45mm NATO M4 carbines as they had been doing every year. However for the competitors running the X95s, it appears they actually came from a different branch of service than the M4 wielding teammates, due to the uniforms (Multicam versus digital) and gear they were donning.

Having used the MRO on everything from rifles to pistols for more than a year, I can recommend it as a very capable unit with an excellent price point. Details and specifications can be found below.
