TFB Review: Black Creek Labs MRX Bison Scout Rifle

Firearms are tools, the hero Shane points out in the 1953 Western drama of the same name. And sometimes, it’s handy to have a specialty tool—a shotgun that’s made to be dragged through thick brush in pursuit of partridge. A pistol that’s made to stop a charging bear dead in its tracks. Or, in the case of the MRX Bison Scout carbine from Black Creek Labs, a rifle that’s compact and easy to transport, with many of the useful features of an AR-pattern firearm, but in a bolt-action format that leaves you less likely to be hassled by The Man.

Most of you here are probably very familiar with Blue Alpha Belts and what they do. Kurt and Jesse started Blue Alpha Belts back in 2016 and from the get-go were great industry partners together with TFBTV. Just like any other good business, Blue Alpha arose from a customer wanting something badly enough that they just went ahead and made it themselves. TFB Review: The $300 Meprolight MMX3 Magnifier

Magnifiers are a simple and easy way to stretch the usefulness of your standard red dot sight like the Meprolight TruVision to their maximum potential on the range. Developed specifically for the Israeli military, Meprolight has been providing the IDF with home-grown optics for nearly 25 years, and they’re constantly trying to update their catalog of powered and passively illuminated optics to meet the ever-increasing demands of both military outfits and regular consumers. In the broad scheme of things, magnifiers are actually a pretty underserved sector of the optics market and that’s why I’m glad that Meprolight not only keeps their newish MMX3 magnifier in production but that it’s also one of the more affordable options in this very limited market. Today we’ll go over why I think it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a more budget-oriented magnifier instead of higher-end magnifiers.

Wheelgun Wednesday: Suppressed Revolver? M1895 Nagant

Let’s take a step back in time. It’s 2020. We’re watching re-runs of the Tiger King, waiting for the price of toilet paper to normalize, tired of wearing masks, and I’m thinking of every dumb way to empty my wallet because I’m stir-crazy AF in a global lockdown. “I should suppress a revolver. That sounds difficult and insane.” So, the journey that I would do 10 out of 10 times again began. I bought an M1895 Nagant revolver chambered in 7.62x38mmR that was imported by Century Arms International (CAI), and started learning what it took to suppress a wheelgun.
