Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we took a look at optimal versus practical carry guns. This week, I wanted to look at a topic that often times comes up more in the summer months which is carrying off body in carry bags. With the explosion in options for carry bags on the market today, is it a good idea to carry your gun in a bag? Let’s take a closer look if carry bags are a good option.

FN Hersal has a new variant of its famous FN Minimi Mk3. The new variant has a longer one-piece top rail, to be able to accommodate two optics in-line. A lot of FN Herstal’s customers have a need to mount a red dot with a magnifier, or a day optic with night vision or thermals for 24-hour use. A single rail will improve repeatability and accuracy. The new Minimi has a small folding backup rear peep sight integrated into the rail.

The American firearm industry is still going great guns, with more than one million National Instant Background Check System (NICS) applications for firearms in the month of April of 2024. However, that is a notable decline from the NICS numbers from April of 2023.

Viridian Weapon Technologies continues to expand its lineup of aftermarket optics with new sighting solutions for Taurus pistols as well as the Rossi Brawler.

NRAAM 2024 is all wrapped up and in the books. This year we didn’t see a whole bunch of groundbreaking releases or entirely new products but instead, we saw a lot of revival product lines. Magpul added another crop of new items to their catalog for 2024, just like they do every year, but this time it’s not just AR stocks and grips. First up, they have a new set of grip modules for the SIG P320 to go along with their P320-compatible AMAGs. Second, Magpul joins the year of the lever action with stocks and handguards for several patterns of lever guns. Hop and Luke visited to check them out but this time they got permission first.

The ATF published (yet another) new administrative rule that impacts many American gun owners. We previously covered the “engaged in the business” rule when it was proposed last year. The final version of that rule is now published, but it has already been stayed by a judge. Let’s look at what this rule says, and who it applies to.
