Multinational Sniper Competition – it’s pretty difficult to identify all of the sniper rifles in this Photo Of The Day. I think the rifle above is some kind of DMR version of the Heckler & Koch G36. Some may laugh, but I don’t think its lethality should be underestimated. The images are from NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia, as they hosted an event named Exercise APEX PREDATOR, for sniper units operating across the Baltic regions and Poland. Teams representing Canada, Latvia, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom were taking part in the event which tested their ability to engage targets, identify targets, and execute sniper missions.

Welcome to another Photo Of The Day! Today’s selection features a Honduras special operations team member as he spots a target at the sniper event during Fuerzas Comando 23 at Sierra Prieta, Dominican Republic, June 2023. Twenty-two countries competed in Fuerzas Comando (FC23), a special operations force skills competition, to earn the title of the country with the “best special operations force in the Americas” between June 12-22 in the Dominican Republic. The sniper rifle is a Barrett MRAD with a Leupold riflescope.

The hungriest beast of them all on this blog is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and it has been doing so for over 9 years. Here we see U.S. Army Spc. Jackson Shlef, a sniper assigned to the East Africa Response Force (EARF), as he observes a position during training at Arta Range, Djibouti, earlier this year. Some say vitamins are almost as important as your daily dose of TFB’s Photo Of The Day, and we agree of course. So here’s another dose of important pictures, but instead of magnesium, iron, calcium and Omega 3 there’s more lead, brass and gunpowder involved here. Above you see a Green Beret with the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) as he engages long-range targets during the Menton 2022 Best Sniper Competition at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

The definition of a photograph, photo, exposure, or picture is a representation of a person or scene in the form of a print or transparent slide; recorded by a camera on a light-sensitive material. In TFB’s case this usually means a soldier or a firearm of some sort. As you can see here, it’s dark, so the exposures are rather long on the images in this  Photo Of The Day. We’re at the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center, during “night shots” with the 52nd WPW and 32nd AFSAM Sniper Championship hosted by NGMTC at Fort Chaffee, Ark.

The number of internet users worldwide will soon reach the 5-billion mark. Our world has never been so connected. Great photos can spread like wildfire, but the story and the necessary context sometimes gets left behind. Not in TFB’s Photo Of The Day where we will always accompany the images with a background and credits to the maker. In the image above you can see a homage to “Slava Ukraini” (Glory to Ukraine) as a reference to the Ukrainian farmers towing off abandoned Russian tanks. This stage of the Danish International Sniper Competition (DISC) 2022 looks seriously difficult!

TFB’s Photo Of The Day is on a mission to collect high-quality photos from the world of firearms. From the Brigade Franco-Allemande (French-German Brigade) we have a nice selection on offer. What a lovely collection of sniper and precision rifles: from FN SCAR-H PR to Accuracy International’s AXMC, G22 and Heckler & Koch G28 and Barret M82s.

It’s time for TFB’s Photo Of The Day where we do our best to display the excellent work done by so many photographers around the world. These images are from Die Bundeswehr in Bayern and show German Snipers in the European Best Sniper Team Competition. There were soldiers from the 231st Mountain Infantry Battalion and the 26th Parachute Regiment competing at the Hohenfels military training area. At the end of the event, the team from Greece won.

Photo Of The Day: The European Best Sniper Team Competition, hosted by the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) at the 7th Army Training Command’s Hohenfels Training Area, Germany. This annual multi-day competition tests multinational sniper squads on land navigation, advanced marksmanship, medical simulations and similar situation.

A sunny trip to Cyprus is what’s on offer in today’s Photo Of The Day. We have soldiers from the RAF Regiment conducting Ground Extraction Force (GEF) exercises as part of an ongoing Joint Personnel Recovery which will continue as they return to the U.K. Whilst deployed, 1 Squadron Force Protection have continued to uphold their regular training, including maintaining their annual competency on the L129A1 Sharpshooter Rifle. The L129A1 is a semi-automatic high-precision designated marksmanship rifle.
