Wheelgun Wednesday: Smith & Wesson 586 Classic Review

Welcome to another Wheelgun Wednesday on TFB, where we cover almost any topic of wheelgunnery. Today, we’ll take a look at the Smith & Wesson 586 Classic, which is based on the iconic 586 revolver from the dawn of the 1980s. The original 586 saw use in hunting, plinking, and law enforcement. While law enforcement may have moved on from revolvers, the rest of the public market is still booming with wheelguns, so let’s take a look at the re-imagined S&W 586 Classic.

Wheelgun Wednesday: Smith & Wesson 19 Carry Comp Review

Thanks for joining us on another TFB Wheelgun Wednesday, where we look at all things relating to revolvers. This week, we’ll take a look at Smith & Wesson’s Model 19 Carry Comp, which, as the catchy name implies, is built for carrying, and it has a compensation port that is designed to bleed off gases upward to keep the muzzle down and the sights on target. I wasn’t sure what to think about this model when it was first released, but a number of wheelgunny readers seemed to take a shine to it, so I was glad Smith & Wesson was able to loan me one to review for you.

Red Dot Revolution: Smith & Wesson Releases Upgraded M&P9 M2.0

Smith & Wesson has just announced an upgrade to the popular M&P9 M2.0 line of carry and duty pistols. With raised sights and the C.O.R.E. mounting plates, the upgraded M&P9 M2.0 is micro red dot sight (MRDS) optic-ready. Over three years ago, we announced that the Houston Police Department had approved slide-mounted optics for duty use. Since then, dozens of local, state, and federal agencies have made policy adjustments to allow the sight upgrades. The update also includes S&W’s new flat trigger. Additional details can be found below.

Add A Millimeter! Smith & Wesson Introduces The 10mm M&P 2.0 – First Shots

Smith & Wesson continues its evolution of the M&P lineup with the addition of 10mm M&P 2.0 polymer carry pistols. Offered in 4.6-inch and 4-inch barrel lengths and available with or without manual safeties, these new hand cannons are well suited for backwoods defense or concealed carry situations. If you are familiar with the M&P 2.0 pistols, adding a millimeter won’t change a thing – except for your ammunition budget projections. As an added benefit, the 10mm M&P 2.0 pistols are optic-ready and include mounting options for all of the most popular micro red dot sights. Raised/suppressor height sights are standard as well.

NEW *10mm* Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0

You read it right: Smith & Wesson is introducing the popular and proven M&P 2.0 series of pistols in 10mm. There are two models coming out the day this video is published, a 4″ barrel compact model and a slightly larger 4.6″ model. Both have a 15 round capacity and they are built on the M&P 45 ACP frame, meaning that most M&P 45 holsters and accessories will work. It also has a brand new trigger and comes optics ready from the factory – but how does it perform? Check out the video to find out.

NEW Smith & Wesson Shotgun: The S&W M&P 12

Smith & Wesson is making a shotgun (again), but this time, it’s a futuristic dual-tube bullpup 12 gauge: The Smith & Wesson M&P 12 shotgun. Part of the “Military & Police” line, this tactical bullpup pump shotgun holds fifteen 2 3/4″ shells, thirteen 3″ shells, or TWENTY mini-shells. Operators switch from tube to tube by using a cross-bolt tube selector switch. The M&P 12 uses AR-15 grips and has plenty of M-LOK and Picatinny rail for optics mounting. It’s a well-thought-out design, but with an MSRP of $1,165, how does it compare to competition such as the similar Kel-Tec KSG bullpup shotgun that has a $900 MSRP? Watch today’s video to find out.

Wheelgun Wednesday: Lend-Lease S&W M&P Victory Revolver In .38S&W

Welcome to TFB’s Wheelgun Wednesday, where we explore all sorts of revolvery goodness. This week we’ll take a look at the Lend-Lease Victory model from Smith & Wesson that I acquired from The Mosin Crate. The batch he was able to source came from Israel, which included models issued to the New Zealanders, however, I didn’t pony up the extra money for one so stamped. Let’s take a look at how my new-to-me Lend-Lease S&W Victory revolver fared through World War II and beyond, and take a peek at the oft-forgotten .38S&W cartridge.

New M&P Spec Series Kit Introduced by Smith & Wesson

Smith & Wesson’s line of M&P handguns have sold phenomenally well since the first model was released in 2005. Over its sixteen-year history to date, the collection has expanded to include a vast array of variants and options covering a half-dozen calibers. It has spawned offshoot versions like the Shield and Shield EZ offerings (and now the new Spec Series model), been adopted by hundreds of government/law enforcement agencies and departments globally, and millions have been purchased commercially.

Wheelgun Wednesday: S&W Model 610, 10mm Revolver

Welcome to TFB’s Wheelgun Wednesday, where we look at the vast world of wheelgunnery. This week we’ll take a look at the S&W Model 610, 10mm revolver I had on loan from Smith & Wesson. The large, “N” framed S&W model 610 utilizes moon clips to extract the six rimless casings once they’ve been fired. I was glad for the opportunity to give the Model 610 a whirl after years of drooling over them. Another plus for this review is that the S&W 610 is able to fire the .40 S&W cartridge, of which I had a backup supply as well as the 10mm Auto I was able to acquire during the great ammo shortage of 2020 & 2021.

Leupold's New DeltaPoint Micro Red Dot Sight

The market for red dots has exploded in the last few years, yet the perfect red dot still does not exist. Most of the red dots available on the market look very similar to each other and you wonder where the power of innovation went. It’s therefore interesting to welcome Leupold’s new product, the DeltaPoint Micro Red Dot Sight. The model is fully enclosed, mounts directly to the rear sight dovetail and is low-profile – it has the same height as factory iron sights. The intention is of course mainly for concealed carry and personal defense firearms. Above and below you can see it mounted to a Glock 22 Gen4.
