Legendary firearm manufacturer Smith & Wesson has just announced a new lineup of M&P 2.0 Subcompact Pistols. Chambered in 9mm, 40S&W and 45ACP, each caliber comes in a choice of with or without a manual thumb safety. Round capacity is 12+1 for the 9mm, 10+1 for 40S&W and 8+1 for the 45ACP. Pricing starts at $569.

Welcome to another edition of our weekly Wheelgun Wednesdays!  Since Pete’s announcement about adding Wheelgun Wednesdays, I was eager to find something unique.  The subject of this Wednesday’s Wheelgunnery is unique, not earth-shattering, but something you don’t see every day.  A member of AR15.com recently stumbled into an interesting trade for an accurized Smith & Wesson M1917 revolver.  Sporterizing surplus firearms is certainly not unheard of, but it’s nice to see an example of a sporterized firearm in which care was taken to do it right, with a clear goal in mind.  All pictures were used with permission.

The 610 is back! I’m a huge fan of The Centimeter and I also have a soft spot for Smith & Wesson revolvers. So I was excited when I found out that Smith & Wesson was bringing back the 610. The Model 610 is an N frame revolver chambered in 10mm Auto but it can also shoot .40 S&W. It’s been on again off again in production since 1990 and limited numbers were made so it’s always been a bit hard to get hold of.

Smith and Wesson just issued a safety alert regarding recent production M&P 15-22 rifles and pistols. According to the safety alert some M&P 15-22 bolts may be out of spec. They have issued a PDF and a video to help you find out if your M&P 15-22 is affected.

Crimson Trace have announced the launch of a Laserguard for Smith & Wesson’s MP Shield EZ. The new addition to the Laserguard line will be available with red and green lasers.

While checking out the revolver forums at ar15.com this summer, I came across a series of threads containing pencil drawings of Smith and Wesson revolvers. The artist, J.J. Rea had explained that he took up drawing while dealing with debilitating Lyme disease. I was impressed with his first attempts at drawing revolvers and each drawing got better as he progressed through various S&W models of revolvers. J.J. posted his initial line drawings to start each thread off, and then would post his final versions later after shading them. The main picture is of his dad’s S&W model 66 and he drew it in honor of his dad’s 75th birthday.

In today’s episode of TFBTV, we test the myth that 9mm is weaker out of a revolver due to bleed off. We compare ballistics for the 9mm Ruger SP101 agains the S&W 9mm Shield to put this urban legend to the test.

Exactly  two months ago we reported the release of Smith & Wesson’s latest M&P offering: the Shield EZ. The new pistol features an easy to rack slide for customers who are older or who may have disabilities. The Shield EZ is also available in two versions, one of which includes a manual thumb safety. Today, S&W is issuing a consumer advisory: the thumb safety can be switched to the ‘On’ position when using limited types of ammunition.
