The 6.8 SPC is a relatively young cartridge with a bit over a decade under its belt – or its case, as the case may be. But it’s seen a recent spike in use both among sport shooters and hunters, so it only makes sense manufacturers would continue to expand their available lines. New for 2016 from nearly century-old Federal, an addition to their Fusion line: 6.8 SPC 90 grain.

Deep South Precision, Inc., a company that makes it its business to specialize in the customization of its rifles, will be producing MSRs in Mossy Oak. The camo finish use is the result of an agreement Deep South struck with Hass Outdoors, Inc., the company that owns the licensing rights to the Mossy Oak patterns being used.

Innovation does not always have to be the biggest and bad-arse. Sometimes it can be the little things that go a long way. Qualifying for the latter is Griffin Armaments Maritime Receiver Extension for modern sporting rifles. Basically, its a standard extension, but adds more drainage holes to ensure the weapon system stays up and running after being submerged.

Conventional wisdom for a modern sporting rifle is to set the zero either at 50/200 or 100 yards. This is especially common with standard military sights, which have built-in clocks for bullet drop at extended distances. However, with the advent of red-dot sights (which cannot move for distance (yet), shooters are stuck with a single POA.

Big news for Remington fans: They have just announced that, effective immediately, certain Remington Defense products are being made available to the commercial market. From the press release:

Arsenal has come out with a new limited-edition modern sporting rifle called the “Las Vegas.” According to the company the new rifle is meant as a celebration of their own Las Vegas heritage and also supports the Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

The PSR – Precision Sniper Rifle – program has its roots in a 2008 U.S. military market survey, but it really came to life in January of 2009. It was USSOCOM that made the call to replace spec-ops sniper’s current bolt-action sniper rifles, and they wanted it done with a single bolt-action rifle chambered in a Magnum round. Of course, their requirements were a bit more specific than just that.

LooseRounds has posted an early review of the Colt 901 MARC rifle. In addition to doing standard 100 yard accuracy testing, he also tested the target at 1,000 and 1,200 yards. That’s really stretching its legs!

Unveiled last year in Europe, the Anschutz MSR RX22 is now being imported into the United States by Steyr Arms. The Anschutz MSR RX22 was jointly developed by Anschütz, German Sport Guns and ESC Ulm. It is essentially a ISSC MSR MK22 upgraded with Anschütz trigger and barrel, turning it from a plinker/trainer into a competition/hunting rifle.

It will shock many to you to learn that once or twice in my life I have made a mistake . Yesterday you bore witness to that rare occurrence. I blogged about the Anschutz MSR RX22 but completely missed the fact that is it clearly a variant of ISSC’s MSR MK22 rifle patterned after the FN SCAR.
