Ukrainian KalashNash Multi-Caliber AK

Ukrainian Mayak arms plant has designed an AK variant called KalashNash that has a quick barrel change feature. It is possible to change the caliber of this rifle to any popular intermediate cartridge (5.56×45, 7.62×39,  5.45×39, 6.5 Grendel, etc.) by swapping the populated barrels and using caliber-specific bolts and magazines. Presumably, the two slots cut at the front bottom portion of the chamber area (see the picture below) are where the barrels are retained in the front trunnion.

Lingle Industries BREAK – CZ Bren 2 Lower Receiver Taking AK Mags, AR Triggers and AR Grips

Lingle Industries is a new company that has just released their first product –  CZ Bren 2 lower receiver called BREAK (stands for BREn AK). What sets the Lingle Industries BREAK lower receiver apart from the factory one is that it takes standard 7.62x39mm AK magazines with rock & lock insertion as opposed to the proprietary straight insert mags used in 7.62×39 Bren 2, and it’s also compatible with AR-15 trigger mechanisms (including the safety selector) and pistol grips.

CZ-USA Releases Bren 2 922r Compliance Conversion Kits

Two weeks ago, CZ issued a soft release of their U.S.-made conversion kits for the Bren 2. The kits are made for Bren owners that wish to update the furniture to have the look and functionality of the Czech-made version. For those unaware, U.S. law, ( 18 U.S. Code § 922) commonly referred to as “922r” requires a certain number of parts made in the United States to be installed when changing out firearm parts from its imported configuration. CZ-USA explained that they didn’t have an official press release as the first batch of Bren 2 compliance kits weren’t enough to meet every owner’s demand, but they were happy to provide some of the details below.

Mikhail Kalashnikov‘s AK47 has become one of the most recognizable and iconic rifles and fielded by many nations, freedom fighters, terrorists, as well as firearms enthusiasts.  There have been numerous variations on the AK platform since its adoption by the Soviet Union more than 70 years ago, some of which were dependant on which Warsaw Pact country it originated from.  According to Wikipedia, more than 100 million rifles based on Kalashnikov’s design have been produced, and around 90 countries have adopted them in some form or another.
