#Glock17

The Armed Forces of the Netherlands will be receiving an order of 10,000 9x19mm NATO Gen 4 Glock 17s with the latest contract announced by the Dutch Ministry of Defense as reported by the Polish magazine Mil Mag. This comes after an initial purchase of 6,300 Gen 4s in the fall of 2016. Previously the Dutch were armed with the Browning 9x19mm Hi Power up until 1994 when they were replaced with Glock 17s sans a forend mounting rail. Glock 17s destined for Holland are specifically marked “NL” as a serial number prefix.

I recently picked up my Osprey45 on Pi Day, 3/14/17. Strangely enough it is the same day I picked up my SpectreII suppressor from the same FFL back on 3/14/15.

Hexmag is expanding now into a polymer Glock magazine. No word just yet on price. But it will be competitive with what is out there now. So I suspect it will be close to the Magpul PMAG and ETS magazine. One feature the Hexmag has over the PMAG is the witness holes for how much ammo is in the magazine.

Glock has donated one of the thirty anniversary pistols to the Young Marines.

CAA has recently expanded their RONI line with a new non-NFA option for those that want a proper stock but refuse to file a stamp. Recently I reviewed the Lock, Stock, and Barrel carbine conversion and found it lacking in a few areas, based on a cursory look at the RONI chassis I feel like this might feel more like a rifle for those looking to turn their pistol into a rifle.

We all know Hollywood takes some liberties with firearms. Endless ammo, exaggerated performance, etc. The list goes on and on. I recently caught a blatant error in the Marvel movie ANT-MAN.

The latest step in the ongoing re-armament of the New Zealand Defence Force has been announced: The SIG Sauer P226 pistols that have served New Zealand servicemen and women since 1992 are to be replaced with new Glock 17 Gen 4 handguns, distributed via an Australian company. Today knowledge of Operation Red Wings is fairly widespread as a result of the movie Lone Survivor, which followed on the heels of the book by the same name. Richard Fitzpatrick, CEO/President of Magpul, came out and admitted the problem on Facebook. Apparently there was an oversight on feeding smaller Glocks in 9mm such as the Glock 19 and Glock 26. However Magpul will fix the problem. Richard even laid out the plans to do so. They are changing the molds and for those who bought any of the first production runs, replacement magazine bodies will be given out.

SGM Tactical brought out their new happy stick mags at Big 3 East. They are heat treated stainless steel lined sleeves. They will be available soon and will retail for $19.99. They have performed flawlessly with a 10ft drop fully loaded. Just like the Glock version, the 9mm will hold 33 rds and they are Gen4 compatible.

At the risk of starting a religious war, today I want to write about custom handgun modifications. I am of the mindset that once I have bought something, it is mine. I also believe that most things bought “off the shelf” are a great starting point, but rarely the final product I want to live with. That said, I like modifications to look “stock”, as if the product came from the factory that way.
