Short & Sweet: Vang Comp TAC-14 Other Firearm

Vang Comp Systems, a noted customizer of scatterguns, has a new model that’s not a shotgun. The new TAC-14 Deluxe is an “other firearm” according to the ATF instead of a “shotgun” even though it fires 12-gauge shotgun shells. Let’s take a look at why that matters.

Shotguns @ TFB:

The TAC-14 Deluxe transfers with a standard Form 4473 just like a handgun or rifle, to a buyer age 21 or older. This is an advantage over a short barrel shotgun, which transfers like a machine gun or silencer with a $200 tax stamp. Those guns can’t come home from the gun store until the ATF issues the stamp. But someone can turn the TAC-14 Deluxe into a registered short barrel shotgun from the comfort of their own home by filing a Form 1 and getting a tax stamp. In the meantime, the gun is in your hands rather than locked up at the store.

Like other Vang Comp guns, the TAC-14 Deluxe features a ported barrel with the Vang Comp System, which tightens groups. It also comes ready to mount an RMR-footprint optic. Buyers have a choice of three colors, graphite black, flat dark earth, and olive drab green. The Vang Comp TAC-14 Deluxe is selling for $1,350

From the manufacturer:

“We wanted to call this the “Form 1EZ”. Take this home from your local gun store, e-file for your Tax Stamp, then, after a historically short processing time, you’ve got yourself a Vang Comp Short Barrel Shotgun.
It’s essentially our Vang Comp Full Tactical Upgrade on top of a new RemArms TAC-14 with the addition of our Reliability Service and Receiver Deburr/ Edge Break.
Co-witness ability keeps the rounds going where you’re aiming even if the dot fails. De-horned loading ports keep the pig fed without feeling like you’re “jamming your thumb into a box of razors.” - Uncle Clint Smith (Thunder Ranch).
Direct mount your favorite RMR pattern red dot to get a lower 1/3 (or lower) co-witness with the Vang Comp Ghost Ring Sight picture. No extra mounts to deal with or additional adapter fasteners to worry about shaking loose.
The excellent Magpul Forend is installed here to allow MLOK grip panels and lights/switches. All of this, and you get your choice of three colors?! Yes, at least for this initial run of these firearms.”

Do me a 590S Shockwave (the minishell compatible version) like that and you can have my paycheck.

You could probably send a 590S Shockwave in for their 'Mossberg 500/590 Full Tactical Upgrade Service,' minus the cost of the Magpul SGA buttstock.
