Ruger MKIV Limited: Lipsey's Special Advances Outdoors Causes

Want to buy a classy rimfire target pistol and help out your fellow outdoorsmen at the same time? Lipsey’s, one of the largest firearms distributors in the U.S., has the answer with an exclusive version of the Ruger Mark IV.

Ruger Mark IV @ TFB:

A team-up that helps out

This small-bore pistol (chambered in .22 LR) is a collaboration between Lipsey’s and Ruger themselves. A portion of the money from every sale of these handguns will go to help support the Council To Advance Hunting And The Shooting Sports (CAHSS). Specifically, fifty bucks from every sale go to the CAHSS, which is not chump change.

If you’re curious about the CAHSS, you can see their website here. They say “Our mission is to facilitate the promotion and growth of hunting and the shooting sports and the education of the public on the contributions that hunters and shooters make towards wildlife conservation.” It’s a worthwhile cause because the only way to ensure future generations enjoy the same activities and rights that we have is to actually organize efforts to do so—because other people are organizing to see just the opposite happen.

What’s different?

Lipsey’s put some thought into making sure this was a desirable pistol. The aluminum-framed pistol comes with rosewood grips, inlaid with red Ruger medallions. There’s a new gold bead front sight, and a set of adjustable sights in back. The barrel itself is not threaded (sorry, suppressor fans). It’s 4 inches long.

The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for easy addition of an optic. Ruger gives each pistol an individual CAHSS serial number, for easy authenticity.

The Ruger Mark IV comes with a 10-round magazine, and each pistol ships with a plastic case. You can see more details at Lipsey’s site here, and talk to your local dealer if you want to order one. MSRP is $699.

Beautiful! I've long had on my list a very nice .22 pistol that shoots accurately (after my fiasco with the horribly innaccurate Mosquito). For a while, we could not get the Mark IV in California, but I see that the 5.5" model is now on the Roster. I doubt Ruger or Lipsey's will try and qualify this one though.

Am I the only one who thinks the black/glossy frame and the matte, whatever colored upper comes across as an ugly Frankenstein build?

They're both glossy, they just reflect light a little differently because the lower is Aluminum and the upper is Steel.

Different materials just aren't going to look the same, even in the same color.
