HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? The Tactical Tuna Strikes Back

Welcome everyone to the 246th edition of 'Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?', one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question - is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the Snap-On-themed SIG was just a pile of fudd crap.

At this time the original auction has ended without a buyer in sight. The P320 was never relisted, so we can only hope it will find its way to a new home in the not-so-distant future.

In this week's edition of HGFC, we look at a modified FN FS2000 chambered in .223/5.56. As is tradition, this early 2000s bullpup is currently up  for sale on GunBroker for $3,750.00.

HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? The Tactical Tuna Strikes Back

Let's see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

"Just when I'm about to forget that this gun exists, it resurfaces again. Long live the great tuna!" - Adam S.
“You may not like it, but this is what peak tactical performance looks like” - Matt M.

Selling this modified gat is GunBroker seller Poisondartfrog, located in Ben Lomond CA. Let’s see what they had to say about this heavily modified FS2000.

“Belgium FN Herstal FS2000 Semi Automatic Tactical Bullpup 5.56 Rifle, FNH
Treated and cared for this rifle like a garaged Ferrari. The Space Age design not only looks cool but it had a very specific function and was built for a desert environments to limit any fine DUST from getting into the system. I’m the one owner and believe it to have been manufactured around 2014. I believe it is a Gen1 but I have not been able to confirm that with my limited research.
Comes with all parts seen including a factory FNH pic rail handguard. Custom muzzle brake added that I found did a best job. I also have a magazine lock accessory in case your particular state requires that. (Trijicon Optic IS NOT INCLUDED). It comes complete with the original box. One 20 and one 30 round steel magazine included, assuming your state allows standard capacity magazines.
Chambered in .223 Remington (5.56x45mm). Featuring a 17.4" Cold Hammer Forged barrel and a sleek black finish, this rifle is a superb example of FN Herstal's superior quality and avant-garde engineering and design.

The FN FS2000® carbine is gas-operated and uses a rotating bolt lockup for reliability and greater accuracy. Its 17.44-inch cold hammer-forged MIL-SPEC barrel is fitted with a muzzle brake. Fired cases are ejected through a forward port away from the operator. The thumbhole design polymer stock is ambidextrous. Left hand thread muzzle.”

Early 2000s bullpups remind me of action movies when CGI was just coming of age. Sure it looked good at the time, but after you see anything with modern CGI it’s never the same.

Granted in a world of AR pattern rifles there is a certain novelty factor when it comes to rifles like this. I will tell you that this novelty wears off quickly when anything goes wrong, and trust me with these rifles they can go wrong fast.  Just hope you don’t need spare parts if anything breaks.

What do you think? Is this piece of early 2000s history worth it for a shade under $4k or are you better off saving that money for a rainy day? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.

What do you think?  Is this FS2000 a Hot Gat or modified plastic Fudd Crap?  Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this FN Herstal FS2000 is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
