TFB Review: Springfield Armory Saint Victor .308

A couple months ago I received the SAINT VICTOR from Springfield Armory for review. I am a fan of the AR10 platform, own a couple so, I was ready to put it through the “TFB wringer”. As all in the Saint line do, the Victor arrived in a case with two magazines and a “SAINT” morale patch. My last rifle arrived in a cardboard box with no magazine. Although they’re small details, it does give it a cool factor you do not always get these days

TFB 6 Month Review – The PWS MK116 MOD 2-M

Over the last 6 months, I’ve run the Primary Weapons Systems as my main rifle and it’s been an interesting ride. When I first started looking at PWS line up of guns, I was really curious how the long stroke gas piston system worked so I ordered the MK116 MOD 2-M rifle. The rifle may look like an AR-15 but apart from looks, the gun is almost entirely different from your standard AR rifle.

TFB Review: The Inforce APLc – The Little Light That Could

The Inforce pistol lights have caught a bad reputation in the last few years from people running and having them quit working either due to the activation switches failing or electrical issues. The first generations of lights were known to have issues but now the APL full size is on its 3rd generation. I’ve been running both APLc models fairly hard on my SIG Sauer P229 Legion and CZ P10C for over a year. The APLc comes in a small package than the APL weapon light. The Inforce APLc offers quite a few perks compared to other lights on the market.

TFB Review: The HK SP5K

There’s no denying the Heckler & Koch MP5 is one of the most iconic submachine guns ever made. Its full-auto cyclic rate was really controllable and is always worth a good smile. HK brought in their civilian legal MP5 models in the 1980s but in recent history has been extremely difficult to find on the market. Companies like Zenith, PTR and Dakota Tactical all make versions of the MP5. In the last few years, the HK SP5K has been on the market so we can actually buy the iconic gun from the people who made it a living legend.

Naroh Arms N1 9mm Subcompact: Contender or Pretender?

In this video, Brannon LeBouef, of NOLATAC and St Bernard Indoor Shooting Center, takes an early look at a prototype Naroh Arms N1 sub-compact 9mm pistol. Brannon, James, and Ryan try out this early version of the pistol. While Brannon is not a fan of “long stroke double action triggers”, he seems to think this is a good one if that is what you like. Stay tuned for the release of this new gun from Naroh Arms.

TFB Review: Crosstac Precision Long Range Shooting Mat and Saddle Bag

With summer now in full swing, this is the perfect time to get out and do some long range rifle shooting.  Usually, this is where I find myself behind a cozy bench with a Range Safety Officer (RSO) nearby.  This is all good and fun, but it just doesn’t come close to shooting in the great outdoors.  Ditching a local range with its cozy bench is not without its downsides, and I quickly found myself in the market for a shooting mat and bag.  Lucky for me, Crosstac was willing to send over their Precision Long Range Shooting Mat and Saddle Bag Shooting Rest for review.

TFB Review: SIG P320 X Compact

A term we often bandy about here at TFB is “peak handgun”, also known as the Glock 19.  It is the ubiquitous, somewhat unavoidable baseline of a compact, striker fired pistol.   Other handguns in this category, especially new ones, need to escape the black hole that the G19 creates by excelling in certain facets that the G19 does not.  SIG’s new P320 X Compact comes loaded with a list of consumer serving features that the G19 does not have, namely:

TFBTV Reviews the New Rex Delta Polymer Handgun

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves reviews the Rex Delta, a reasonably priced 15+1 striker-fired 9mm handgun clearly geared towards inching in on the Glock 19 market share. But how does it compare to the Glock 19? What does this Slovenian pistol do differently or better? We find out today.

TFB Review: NEW SIG Sauer ROMEOZero Micro Red Dot

The firearms industry as of late continues to shift and morph in unique directions. We want smaller carry guns that carry more rounds and are as accurate as our full-size pistols. This postured idea might seem improbable, but not impossible. That burning question gave birth to the SIG Sauer P365, and most recently the upgraded and enlarged P365XL. A similar desire shooters have wanted is a micro red dot for conceal carry pistols that retains all the goodness of a normal size red dot. Que the folks at SIG Sauer confidently exclaiming hold my beer! SIG Sauer has once again accomplished the improbable, and now proven not impossible task, of a micro red dot that is less than 1″ wide with the ROMEOZero Micro Red Dot stepping out from the shadows!

TFB Review: SIG Rattler CaneBrake – NFA Edition

TFB EXCLUSIVE: Pre-Production Development of The CZ P-10 C – Part 3

The CZ  P-10 family has grown. CZ started with P-10 C and decided to expand the family to cover both subcompact and full-size guns. The CZ P-10 C is called a compact gun, but I like to consider it less than full size. It is bigger than a Glock 19, with a longer grip. It doesn’t quite fall into the category of a compact pistol in my opinion. I won’t lie, I do wish there was a slightly shorter grip version of the P-10 C, similar to what FN did with the 509M. CZ knocked it out of the park with their other two guns. The CZ P-10 F and the CZ P-10 S. This new family did come with some significant changes.

TFB Review: SIG Sauer P365 18 Months Later

When I first picked up my P365 in January of 2018, I was one of the lucky few to actually find one. I drove down in one of the worst snowstorms I’ve ever seen, but I was determined to pick up this elusive gun right after returning from the SHOT Show. Right after filling out the paperwork, I jumped in my truck and drove through a foot of snow to shoot the gun. Fast forward 18 months, and not much has changed for me with this gun.

TFB Review: Front Line Holsters – Magazine Pouches & Holsters

The longer you own firearms the greater your holster collection becomes. In my travels, carrying exploits, and writing for TFB I have handled a lot of holsters. Many really good and some that were not up to par. Many of which were specialty makes and models. We can all likely point to a specific favorite brand of ours for Inside-the-Waistband (IWB) carry or Outside-the-Waistband (OWB) or something else. It is rare to come across a brand that can create nearly all scenarios of carry well. My friend and fellow TFB writer, Miles Vining, turned me on to Front Line Holsters because he has had personal experience with them and spoke supremely high of them. I respect Miles and I respect his word so I decided to check them out. In this TFB Review, we will take a look at 4 different products from Front Line Holsters: 2 magazine pouches and 2 holsters.

TFB Review: Beretta APX Compact

A few months ago, I decided to pick up something different from what I currently shoot. I snagged a Beretta APX Compact at my local gun shop. When I first picked it up and put the gun in my hand, I immediately noticed how aggressive the grip checkering was on the handgun which isn’t a bad thing for me. I think this is a good alternative to stippling and with three adjustable backstraps, the gun is able to fit a lot of different hand types. The grip is right in between a Glock 19 and a Glock 26. The APX Compact is just big enough to fit all my fingers onto the grip which is a plus for being controllable. The compact version holds 13 rounds in a flush magazine and is a fairly compact gun.

TFB Review: CZ 457 Lux .22WMR

The CZ 457, introduced just this year by CZ and CZ-USA, has big shoes to fill.  It’s predecessors, the 455 and 452 series rimfires, were well made and generally well liked.  The “Lux” line of CZ rimfires represent a rifle with a touch of elegance.  They are distinguished by their checkered Monte Carlo shaped Turkish walnut stocks and adjustable iron sights.  CZ was kind enough to afford TFB the opportunity to try this new rifle out in a .22WMR chambering.

TFB Review: Beretta 1301 Tactical Shotgun

For the last couple of years, I have been buying rifles and building mostly rifles and pistols when coming up with projects. I have a few pump action shotguns, but I don’t have anything when it comes to semi-automatic tactical shotguns. A few months back, I decided to start researching what shotgun I wanted to pick up. I looked at a number of companies like FN, Benelli, and Beretta. I’ve always loved the M2 and M3 from Benelli but have several hunting models that use the same inertia system. I wanted a gas shotgun to try out to see how it’s different from inertia models.

TFB Review: The Primary Arms 1-8×24 Rifle Scope With ACSS Reticle

The Primary Arms 1-8×24 rifle scope is a Low Power Variable Optic (LPVO) that uses the patented Advanced Combined Sighting System (ACSS) reticle. I was already familiar with Primary Arms’ 1-6x ACSS optic, having owned it for several years. I wanted to test out the newer Primary Arms 1-8x offering as well and Primary Arms kind enough to let me give it a go.

For the last three years, I have been running the First Spear Strandhogg SAPI cut plate carrier. I have tried other plate carriers and there are always positive and negatives associated with each. TFB Review: Bergara HMR Pro 6.5 Creedmoor

The world of firearms is constantly evolving with new trends and fresh popular styles. While shooting guns long distances is not something new, the popularity of it quite possibly has never been stronger. Being able to push technology and an individual shooter’s prowess out to extreme distances can be supremely gratifying. Such leagues as the Precision Rifle Series are soaring in popularity where shooters are not only challenged in the distances they fire, but also the positions. Because of this growing love for long-range, I have also been eyeing a specific rifle: the Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5 Creedmoor. For that reason, we will take a look at one in this TFB Review!

TFB Review: BOSS StrongBox 6 Month Review

Over the last year and a half, there has been an increase in the number of vehicle burglaries among people I work with. Running my social media pages, I run into a ton of different people and become friends with people I otherwise wouldn’t have met.  Over the last year, I’ve had around 8-9 people I work with or know who have had their vehicles broken into and guns were stolen. One person who will remain anonymous, lost over $20,000 in firearms after a charity event because their vehicle was broken into. Now I would not be comfortable leaving a substantial amount of money in guns inside my truck unattended, but there are times you need space inside your vehicle to store a firearm.

TFB Review: Bushnell Nitro 6-24x50mm FFP Deploy MOA Reticle

Bushnell has given their optics a face-lift in recent years with upgraded features, names, prices, and a whole new sexy look. The first tier of their optics begins with the Prime and Engage series which flutters around $350 or less. A sort of mid-range tier is their new Nitro series offering scopes in the ballpark of $350 – $700. The upper tier of optics is reserved for the Forged series which can be purchased anywhere from $750 – $950. All of these new optics from Bushnell serve to fill a void in the market depending on what you are looking for. The Bushnell Nitro series could very well become their most popular line-up because like a perfect bowl of porridge… it’s not too cheap and it’s not too expensive, its just riiiight. So in this TFB Review, we will take a look at one of their long-distance hunting riflescopes with the Bushnell Nitro 6-24x50mm FFP with a Deploy MOA Reticle.

TFB Review: SIG Sauer MCX Rattler – 1 Year Later

Most of you guys will probably understand when I say I have a list of guns I’d love to own someday, but it’s always followed up by “if I win the lottery.” I have a few of those guns on my list but when I saw the new MCX Rattler from SIG Sauer, I felt like it was something fresh in the market and that was exciting to me. I checked it out at SHOT Show and NRA’s annual meeting last year. I always thought it was a useful system and again I was interested in shooting it. Thankfully, I found one and had the opportunity to buy it, so I did! Let’s get into what I think about it one year later.
