TFB Review: EAW Lightweight 3D-Printed Scope Mount

This is a review of EAW’s 3D-printed Lightweight Riflescope Mount. According to EAW, they are the first to use this technology on a mount, and they claim that their aluminum block mount saves around 30-40% in weight against comparable mounts. I was introduced to the new mount at IWA in Germany earlier this year, and EAW were kind to send me a sample for this review.

TFB Review: Aimpoint Duty RDS with 3X-C Magnifier (+Thermal)

This is a review of the Aimpoint Duty RDS with 3X-C Magnifier – 39mm FlipMount & TwistMount base. As a bonus, we added Pulsar’s new PSP-V Adapter to add some thermal capability to the system. Due to the supply and demand situation in the World, it was quite difficult to get our hands on some of these components, but Aimpoint were kind to send me some samples for testing earlier this spring. The Aimpoints have been used on a variety of platforms like the Heckler & Koch MR223, Ruger Precision Rifle and an AR15 in .300 Blackout.

Pocket Full of Hate: The Bond Arms Roughneck Derringer Pistol

If you’re a fan of the 1994 film Maverick or similar films involving high-stakes gambling and gun fights, you’ll no doubt be familiar with derringer pistols. Derringer pistols are small, very compact, pocket-sized pistols that don’t exactly fit into any other category of firearms like revolvers, pocket pistols, and the like. Unlike mini-revolvers or centerfire pocket semi-auto pistols, derringers are typically chambered in much larger straight-walled cartridges like 357 Magnum, .38 Special, and .45 Long Colt. Up until going through this review, I had not had very much experience with derringer-style pistols but Bond Arms was kind enough to lend me one of their Roughneck derringers, as well as a spare barrel chambered in 9mm so that I could get a feel for the experience and explore what these pistols have to offer concealed carriers.

TFB Review: Ruger LCP MAX 380 Pistol with XS DXT2 Big Dot Sights

9mm micro-compact pistols have been front and center within the pistol world for quite some time now. During the midst of some of the biggest brand names releasing their own version of the 9mm micro compact to the industry, Ruger somewhat sneakily released the LCP MAX 380 pistol which took the super tiny LCP 380 semi-auto pistol with a standard magazine capacity of 6-rounds and bumped that number up to 10 rounds. James Reeves reviewed the LCP MAX 380 over on TFBTV during its initial release but we’ve yet to do that here on the blog side of things. Sometime shortly after the release of the LCP MAX 380, XS Sights came out with dedicated night sights for the pocket-sized 380 and they were gracious enough to send me a copy of their own LCP MAX 380 equipped with their DXT2 Big Dot sights. Today we’ll take a look at both the LCP MAX 380 as well as the XS Sights DXT2 Big Dot sight for it and see if this might be a sensible option for when you’re looking to be as discreet as possible.

TFB Review: American Tactical Imports Galeo (Galil Clone)

A Galil has been on my bucket list since my youth. Unfortunately, the classic Galil was banned from import many years ago and original guns are very expensive these days. American Tactical Incorporated stepped up to meet the demand of gun nerds everywhere by building Galil clones from imported parts kits with US-made receivers and barrels. These guns are marketed as the Galeo.

TFB Review: Pulsar Talion XQ38 - Budget Thermal Riflescope

This is a review of the Talion XQ38, Pulsar’s brand new Thermal Imaging Riflescope. Launched at SHOT Show 2022, it’s a compact, lightweight thermal imaging hunting riflescope with several advanced capabilities. The compact size and low weight in combination with a lean price point for a thermal sight make it stand out. It’s loaded with features that would work well on a number of hunting platforms, including ARs, semi-autos and bolt-action rifles. Wе had our sample for testing for a few months now and it’s time to wrap things up and tell our readers what we think about it.

TFB Review: The Italian Surplus Beretta 84BB Pistol

Beretta, the legendary Italian gunmaker, recently imported a large number of surplus Model 84BB .380 ACP pistols. They had served the Guardia di Finanza, Italy’s rough equivalent to a DEA/CBP/IRS agency, for many years. Are these worth the money, or just a neat novelty?

TFB Review: Blue Force Gear Standard AK Sling

The rifle sling – one of the oldest and most useful rifle accessories which despite often being underrated, is a must-have for carrying a rifle in the field, more important than a lot of other things we accessorize our rifles with. A well-designed sling is not only a mean for carrying your rifle but will allow you to improve your weapon manipulations and increase the stability of the gun while shooting. While any sling is better than no sling, having one specifically designed for your particular weapon system should in theory be much more preferable. In this article, we’ll find out if it is so in practice in the case of AK rifles and the Blue Force Gear Standard AK Sling.

TFB Review: Frankford Arsenal Perfect Seat Hand Primer

Frankford Arsenal claims that their  Perfect Seat Hand Primer is “designed so you can have the perfect primer seat every time.” That is a bold claim, but in a world where primers cost $90/1000 if you can find them, it hurts to waste any to improper seating. Let’s take a look and see if the Frankford Arsenal Perfect Seat Hand Primer lives up to its name.

TFB Review: Parker Mountain Machine P365 JTTC Compensator

The world of concealed carry has changed dramatically over the last 10 years. Gone are the days of massive bulky full metal firearms with horrid triggers in an effort to be armed. There are endless choices with infinite possibilities to custom your carry firearm to make it truly one of one. I recently picked up the SIG Sauer P365 Spectre Comp and enjoyed shooting it and as a result, I decided to purchase one of the PMM P365 comps to test out on my original P365 I don’t carry much anymore. Let’s take a closer look at the Parker Mountain Machine P365 JTTC Compensator.

TFB Review: The New GX4 XL – GX4's Bigger Brother

The micro-compact 9mm concealed carry pistol market is really starting to give US customers an option for practically every style of concealed carry. Similarly, Taurus has been doing its best to meet the demands of the market while slowly but surely shoring up its quality control which has made them quite competitive despite its past reputation. Today Taurus is bringing a new pistol to market that gives concealed carriers access to yet another option for their daily carry pistol – the GX4 XL T.O.R.O. Similar to the release of the groundbreaking Glock 43X and subsequent release of the Glock 48, the Taurus GX4 XL increases the barrel length to give customers access to a longer sight radius and this time, it’s optics ready from the start. So today we’ll see what the extra inch of length that the GX4 XL has will offer to the customer looking for an affordable carry piece.

Bigger, Longer, and Optics Cut: The Taurus GX4 XL

In this episode of TFBTV, Hop reviews the Taurus GX4 again! The new GX4 XL model has a longer barrel and slide, mated to the same compact double stack frame as the original GX4. The longer slide and barrel means a longer sight radius and more muzzle velocity, but is it enough difference to make a difference? I dunno, ask Paul Harrel, my chronograph barely works as it is.

TFB Review: Boyds Agility Stock

For many years Boyds has been the main name that comes to mind when it comes to replacement hunting rifle stocks.  The classic models offer an excellent choice for a straightforward replacement and the AT One has always been the tricked-out model for those who want tons of adjustability.  For the longest time, I always found myself wanting a model in between with an adjustable length of pull but none of the extra bells and whistles of the AT One. Enter the Agility stock. The Agility offers the ergonomics of the AT One and the adjustable length of pull while retaining a more traditional look and feel.

The Rimfire Report: Desert Tech Trek-22 Bullpup 10/22 Stock Review

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many firearms, ammunitions, and history! Last week we talked about the Margolin MCM .22LR target pistol, and Mikhail Margolin, its blind designer. I think the biggest takeaway for me from the entire story is the sheer dedication that Mikhail had to his passion for firearms. This week we are returning to The Rimfire Report for another review in the 10/22 category. Today we’re checking out the new-ish Desert Tech Trek-22 Bullpup 10/22 stock. I’ve been trying to get my hands on one of these for a while and Desert Tech graciously sent me one for testing and review purposes. Today we’ll be checking out the Trek-22 to see what it has to offer rimfire shooters which should give you a good idea of whether or not this is the aftermarket 10/22 product for you.

TFB Review: Brownells BRN-10 – A Legend Resurrected

Brownells shook up the retro scene when they introduced a modern clone of the original AR-10, called the BRN-10. It hearkened back to the very rare original Armalite but made it affordable and accessible to the average man. Sadly, it was discontinued, but it is still a unique rifle that deserves a deeper look.

Wheelgun Wednesday: Ruger SP101 Review

On this edition of TFB’s Wheelgun Wednesday, we’ll take a look at my former everyday carry piece, the Ruger SP101. The .357 Magnum SP101 was introduced a few years after the release of its big brother, the Ruger GP100 in the later half of the 1980s, and has since been chambered for .22LR, .327 Federal Magnum, .38 Special, and 9mm. The Ruger SP101 revolver’s prefix “SP” is generally referred to as “Special Purpose,” compared to the GP100’s “General Purpose,” but doesn’t appear in any current literature on Ruger’s website or advertisements. The Ruger SP101 revolver also saw service with the French police. Let’s take a look at this controversial concealed carry weapon, the Ruger SP101.

TFB Review: SIG CROSS PRS in 6.5 Creedmoor

Designed with precision in mind, SIG’s new CROSS PRS in 6.5 Creedmoor is packed with new features.  Using the existing CROSS chassis, the PRS features a prominent new 24-inch heavy contour barrel underneath a new ARCA-equipped handguard.  I was curious to see how this new longer-barreled variant was, and SIG was kind enough to send over a completely decked-out copy for me to review.

TFB Review: The POF SMG MP5 – MP5 Performance Without the Price?

The venerated MP5 design is one that has lasted well beyond its practical use and into the modern age. The MP5 has made itself a comfy home in the minds of American gun owners due to a combination of real-world and fictional portrayals in the hands of operators and action heroes alike. The MP5 is simply a near-ubiquitous design when it comes to the term SMG or submachine gun. However, the trouble with MP5s, especially in the Heckler & Koch manufacture, is they are really hard to get a hold of and on top of that, they’re also insanely expensive. There are a few other great options out there if you’re unwilling to pay two and a half racks for that roller-delayed goodness and today we’re taking a look at one of the more affordable options in the MP5 scene with POF’s (Pakistan Ordnance Factories) SMG MP5 otherwise known as the POF-5. These Pakistan-produced and Arkansas-imported firearms come in at a competitive price, and really have great performance to match if you’re looking to scratch that MP5 itch and don’t really care about the roll mark.

TFB Review: Bianchi Shenandoah OWB/IWB Convertible Holster

It’s hard to set yourself apart these days when it comes to holsters – especially ones that are geared towards concealed carry applications. However, I recently took the opportunity to review one of Bianchi’s hybrid leather holsters that caught my eye, and today we’ll be taking a look at it. The Bianchi Shenandoah OWB/IWB holster is a fully convertible, dual-carry holster with the ability to easily switch between IWB and OWB carry positions with minimal parts change and also with a 50% leather construction but in the reverse of how many other companies accomplish this. This holster is more interesting than meets the eye and today I hope I can properly demonstrate its features and advantages to you.

TFB Review: Empire's POINTMAN P320 AXG

Over the last few years, the SIG Sauer P320 has been growing in popularity in the market thanks to the ability to switch out frames and slides to create a handgun truly customized to you. A few years ago, I even wrote about the one handgun I would choose if I could only have one. It ended up being the P320 and that hasn’t changed even after all this time. A new company called Empire has come onto the market offering a high-end customized version of the P320 called the Pointman. I’ve had my Pointman for roughly three months and put it through its paces. Let’s take a closer look at the Empire Pointman P320.
