Real Avid, some of the firearms industry’s top tool-masters, produce a host of excellent products to help home gunsmiths. These DIY gurus offer tools like the Master Sight Pusher, the Level-Right Pro precision reticle level, a comprehensive AR-15 armorer’s kit, and many more.

By now we’re all painfully aware of it: nearly all makes and models of firearms and ammo are being sold at utterly blistering rates. In-stock inventory has become harder to find than TFB TV’s James Reeves sober at a wedding. TFB reported on this trend several months ago, and it has done nothing but continue to climb over the summer months.

FN America‘s current AR-15 lineup – dubbed the “FN-15 Series” – includes eighteen models, ranging from 5.56 and 300BLK pistols to a competition-purposed model to California-compliant versions and more. FN also provides variants of these fighting rifles to various military and law enforcement groups around the globe. Primary Arms already carries dozens of FN America products, from complete firearms to magazines and more. Now Primary Arms has announced that they are adding a collection of FN’s AR barrels to their product menu.

If you’ve ever shopped for gun stuff for more than a few seconds, chances are pretty good that you’ve come across Primary Arms. What started as a small budget optics maker has spent the last thirteen years growing into one of the firearms industry’s most prolific retailers, frequently mentioned in the same breath as major shops like Brownells, Optics Planet, and Midway USA. With supported brand names numbering in the hundreds, in addition to their own house-brand scopes and other equipment, this Texas-based operation offers a superfluity of guns and gear for a vast array of shooting-related disciplines. Now their host of loyal customers has a new reason to keep shopping with them, as they’ve announced a new “ Bonus Bucks” rewards program in the following press release.

Just a couple of weeks ago Nighthawk Custom & Korth released a new, beautiful, .357 Magnum revolver. Now they are introducing a meaner model apparently based on the same frame: the Korth Ranger .357. Again this is part of the four new releases initially announced a few months back.

For most gun people, the derringer pistol concept immediately brings to mind motifs of the Wild West. After classic late 19th-century firearms like Colt revolvers and Winchester or Henry lever-action rifles, derringers occupy their own solid niche in the story of the American frontier. Countless western films and TV shows have solidified this in our minds. No doubt you can picture it: when he enters the saloon, the cowboy leaves his rifle in its scabbard on his horse’s saddle at the hitching post outside, and the barkeep insists on keeping his brace of wheelguns behind the bar. But the seasoned trailhand isn’t stupid; he still has a knife hidden in his boot and a trusty derringer concealed in his shirtsleeve’s cuff, just in case a friendly poker game turns sour. Although this scene is set a century and a half ago, today the folks at Bond Arms still embrace the derringer.

When you want to learn more about virtually any firearm or piece of shooting-related gear, the internet offers numerous resources and options for you to do so. In addition to manufacturers’ websites themselves and the industry’s premier digital publication, The Firearm Blog, video-centric choices are also immensely popular. TFB’s own YouTube-based operation, TFB TV, provides educational and entertaining content to nearly a million subscribers. Given this environment, it makes sense that companies are getting on board by producing their own in-house videos, like Hoppe’s “How to Clean” series. Now with an August 19th press release, Savage Arms has announced that they are doing the same.

As a major supplier of inexpensive optics, Primary Arms Optics is continually seeking to provide shooters with new budget-friendly options. To this end, Primary Arms offers their SLx line of scopes and red dots, which are available with MSRPs of $479.99 or less. Many of these scopes are available with Primary Arms’ proprietary ACSS reticles.

Since 1969, Phoenix’s Galco Gunleather (originally from Chicago and called “The Famous Jackass Leather Company”) has produced a vast spectrum of shooting accoutrements. From holsters to concealed carry purses and fanny packs to med kits, their products offer something for nearly everyone who carries. If you do carry a firearm, its typically a good idea to pack some extra ammo.

Krieghoff have announced the introduction of a new 12 gauge competition shotgun based on their K-80. The new K-80 34” Parcours over & under shotgun has a longer barrel and an extended sight plane. The K-80 Parcours is available with either left or right-handed stocks and a choice of engraving patterns or a custom design.

For the serious precision rifle shooter, PROOF® Research has again listened and significantly reduced rifle weight without compromising long-range accuracy.

Savage Arms has introduced two new laminate stock options in bright, two-tone color schemes for their Rascal rimfire rifles.  The new Rascal rifles stocks come in either pink and purple or teal and grey.  The new stocks are based on Savage’s Minimalist concept, which is also featured on several other of their rimfire rifles while retaining the smaller size of the Rascal profile.  According to the product page on Savage Arms’ website, the Minimalist Rascal rifles weigh 3.5 pounds compared to the standard Rascal’s 2.7 pounds.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to look into the Leupold Mark 5HD yet but hopefully, I’ll soon get the chance. The military version of this riflescope has just been given a NATO Stock Number or NSN.

The Springfield Hellcat has proven a popular choice for concealed carry pistols since its release. The Hellcat features either an 11+1 flush fit magazine or a 13+1 extended magazine depending on what you choose to carry. Apex Tactical has just released its new Action Enhancement Trigger for the Springfield Hellcat which is said to significantly improve the trigger pull for the micro-compact pistol.

GRS Riflestocks from Norway has released their first bipod. Made from 6061 Aluminum and stainless-steel hardware, this bipod can either be mounted a top-mounted manner (as pictured) or in the traditional way underneath the barrel.

Since Nighthawk Custom and Korth started their partnership to bring the German revolvers to the US market, we’ve seen quite a few new models. From highly elaborate collector’s pieces to aggressively styled sports tools. Now, with the Silver version of the Mongoose, they are releasing a more traditionally styled model, which was actually first announced a few months back.

Minnesota-based Federal Ammunition have announced a further delivery of 5.56x45mm MK311 Mod 3 frangible training ammunition to the US Army. The contract is worth $13.8 million and is part of an earlier contract awarded in 2017. The contract Federal are referring to is one which was awarded to Vista Outdoor Inc. back  in June 2017, worth $52 million. The estimated completion date that firm-fixed-price contract is June 25, 2022.

In 2005, L3Harris purchased optics maker and holography innovation company EOTech. For the last fifteen years, EOTech has existed as only a small portion of this defense industry Goliath’s larger operations which also include products like military drones, tactical radios, surveillance and reconnaissance technologies, night vision devices, and much more.

Walt Berger began making his own bullets by hand in his garage in 1955, which he credits with helping him shoot his way into the Benchrest Hall of Fame. Over the last sixty-five years, what started as one man’s part-time hobby has flourished into a thriving full-scale business.

The U.S. Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command plays an important role in guiding the future of our warfighters’ lethality and survivability. Their mission statement is “To provide the research, engineering, and analytical expertise to deliver capabilities that enable the Army to deter and, when necessary, decisively defeat any adversary now and in the future.” To this end, they engage in scientific pursuits like advancements in weaponry, exploring quantum communication, improving electronic warfare effectiveness, and working on new ways to purify water in the field. At the heart of these endeavors lies the Army Research Laboratory. These military scientists have been responsible for many breakthroughs in areas such as grenade-launched drones and better 3D printing. Now they have teamed up with academic scientists at Purdue University to develop lead-free explosive material that could be used to produce nontoxic ammo, as announced in a July 16th press release from Purdue.

Since its founding in 1993, Texas-based TRUGLO has developed an extensive product catalog. Although they are probably best known in the firearms world for their tritium and fiber optic handgun sights, they also offer a plethora of other items for hunting, archery, and more. From a variety of scopes and red dots to shotgun choke tubes, splatter targets, and bowfishing accessories, TRUGLO brings a plethora of sporting and outdoor solutions to the table. One such product line is their Tac-Pod adjustable bipod series. With MSRPs ranging from $35-$60, these are an inexpensive alternative to the industry’s more top-shelf options, many of which can go for considerably more money. Now with a July 15th press release, TRUGLO is introducing two new additions to their bipod menu: a “Carbon Pro” version available in short (6″-9″) and long (9″-13″) lengths.

Flashlights and firearms are inextricably connected. Weapon-mounted lights are often affixed to AR-15s, pistol-caliber carbines, sub guns, defensive shotguns, pistols, and more. Many handgun carriers also carry standalone flashlights, either instead of weapon lights, or sometimes even in addition to them. Light manufacturers are always coming out with new and improved models that offer more lumens, greater candela, or other benefits. Since their founding in 1973, Streamlight has spent nearly a half-century growing into a leading supplier of these illuminating tools. Firearms usage and medical preparedness go hand in hand. Whether you’re enjoying a casual range day, hunting, shooting competitively, or carrying a concealed handgun in your everyday life, unfortunately mishaps can and do happen from time to time. Many shooting organizations and competitive bodies are increasingly encouraging or requiring their members and participants to include some form of trauma medical kit in their gear lists. Belgium’s own Fabrique Nationale Herstal, known as FN Herstal or simply FN for short, has produced some phenomenal and highly successful guns over its 131 year history. From their contributions in the handgun market with pistols like the Hi-Power and Five-Seven, to rifles like the P90 and SCAR series – and many more – FN has made some memorable guns.

Airgunners and pellet slingers, this one is for you. Among a few other product lines, Turkey’s Hatsan Arms produces a wide array of pellet guns. With a 8th July press release, Hatsan’s US division has announced a new full-auto .30-cal airgun: the Blitz. Small backyard varmints, time to hide in your burrows!

Legacy Sports International is the parent company for several firearms brands, including Howa and Citadel. Seeking to expand their distribution channels, Legacy has partnered with MGE Wholesale and Orion Wholesale, who will be adding Citadel shotguns to their product lines. Some of the available shotguns will include the BOSS-25, an AR-style semi-auto 12 gauge, and the VEPR-style RSS1. The press release announcing this distribution addition reads as follows.

“The M4A1 Carbine is a lightweight, 5.56 millimeter, magazine fed, gas operated, air cooled, shoulder fired weapon.” For many years, US Army Infantrymen have had this phrase, or a slight variation of it, drilled into their heads until they could recite it perfectly. The above version was the one I learned verbatim during my time training at Sand Hill on Fort Benning, and then serving as an 11C with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum.

In 2019 TFB reported about ongoing changes at Cobalt Kinetics, from starting to manufacture a line of 1911 derivatives to ceasing the production of AR-15 models. On top of this, the company also cooperated with MARS Inc. to, unsuccessfully, compete in the US Army NGSW Program, with a peculiar long recoil operated rifle. Now we see that Cobalt Kinetics has found a new owner and it looks like their line of AR-style models will be back.

Standard Manufacturing is a relatively young company, having only been around for six years. In that fairly short time, they have produced an eclectic mix of guns. Their unusual lineup includes a number of double-barrel pump and semi-auto shotguns, high-dollar single-action revolvers, a smattering of 1911s, and the particularly odd S333 “Thunderstruck” – which is a double-barrelled eight-round revolver that fires two shots of .22 Win Mag with each pull of its unique two-finger trigger. Davidson’s, wholesaler for Gallery of Guns and more, has added Standard products to their lineup with the following July 2nd press release.

Not so long ago, the vast majority of hunting rifles were only available with traditional wood furniture or they were of the all-black tactical variety. If you wanted something different in the aesthetic department, you would likely have to break out some rattle-can spray paint in a selection of browns and greens or find something like a cloth-based wrap-around solution. With the proliferation of better methods like Cerakoting in other colors or hydro-dipping patterns, options have greatly expanded in recent years and many of these alternatives are now being offered straight from gun factories. Howa has gotten on board with satisfying this customer demand, and they are now offering a new full-dip Kratos camo pattern rifle.
