Mesa Tactical continues to expand its accessory options for shotguns, particularly for the Beretta 1301 and Benelli M2. New for 2023, the Truckee forend is now available for M2 and 1301 shooters.

New this year from KelTec, formerly known as Kel-Tec, is the KSG410, a dual mag tube, single-barrel shotgun that fits into the footprint of KelTec’s KS7.  Also new from KelTec is their R50, a 16″ barreled rifle version of their P50 5.7×28 pistol, complete with a folding stock that attaches to the bottom of the grip.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is at the Kel-Tec booth during SHOT Show 2023 to discuss the new Kel-Tec .410 KSG. While there’s little doubt that the 12 gauge is the king of tactical shotguns, the .410 KSG manages to bring something to the table in that its smaller barrel and tubes make this version of the KSG much smaller and lighter than the original 12 gauge KSG. Like a baby Kel-Tec shotgun! (Aww, so cute!)

Hidden away in Mossberg’s SHOT booth was a few new shotguns: Mossberg 590S models with the Optic Ready capability, as well as new M-LOK forends.  Able to mount a low-profile optic, and cycling everything from mini shells to 3″, the new 590S Optic-Ready models are available with 18″ and 20″ barrels, both retailing at $704 MSRP.

The new firearms announced by Browning Arms Company for 2023 include four new configurations of the X-Bolt bolt action rifle, fifteen shotguns added to different lines of their shotguns, and three new models of the Buck Mark rimfire pistol. You can find the list of all new Browning 2023 products below. In a few years, we’ve seen WOOX bringing to market anything from innovative rifle furniture to axes and knives. The common trait is the rather unconventional use of wood elements. Their latest product, the Gladiatore, brings the WOOX signature aesthetics to Mossberg pump action shotguns.

Mossberg are adding the possibility to use red dots (with the Shield RMSc pattern) for their 500 Turkey and 835 Ulti-Mag Turkey pump action shotguns. The 500 Turkey Optic-Ready is available in 410 bore 3″ and 20 gauge 3″, while the 835 Ulti-Mag Turkey Optic-Ready is a 12 gauge shotgun with a 3.5-inch chamber. The price is between $644 and $693.

When it comes to purchasing firearms, there are certain types out there that aren’t practical or even all that useful. Sometimes it tugs at your heartstrings for no reason and you absolutely have to have it. For some odd reason, I have always felt the Remington 870 TAC-14 Hardwood has that classic cool pump action shotgun vibe and I’ve always wanted to have one to test out. These smaller shotguns can be quite a handful to shoot, but they do offer a number of advantages over something like a full-length shotgun for home defense. Let’s take a closer look at the Remington 870 TAC-14 Hardwood shotgun.

As much as I like to poke James Reeves about the era of the shotgun being a thing of the past, he and everyone else continues to prove me wrong. Italian FABARM (Fabbrica Bresciana Armi) first published pictures of their new SDASS PRO Stage 2 pump action shotguns at the beginning of the year and now they have added them to the Law Enforcement section of their website. This new generation of SDASS (Special Defence And Security Shotgun) shotguns currently includes two models – SDASS PRO Forces Stage 2 and  SDASS PRO Telescopic Stage 2. The main difference between the two models is in the furniture design.

Photo Of The Day: It’s been over a year, so we hear very few things from Afghanistan. These images were taken in 2014, in the Helmand province, and we see U.S. Marines 3/7 in a shooting competition with various firearms. Above you see U.S. Marine Corps Capt. James Covey, commanding officer, Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment (3/7), as his M500 12 gauge shotgun spits fire. The pump-action Mossberg 500 (M500) is made by O.F. Mossberg & Sons and has been in service since 1987. It was designed in 1961 by Carl Benson.

Folding shotguns aren’t exactly new, but the Canadian firearms community has recently gained access to an infinitely more modern take on the concept with the Taiga Wolverine folding shotgun line. The Taiga Wolverine folding shotgun now comes in two sizes, “X” with an 18.5-inch barrel, and “M,” which stands for “mini” and will come with a 10-inch barrel. The Wolverine’s receiver is split into two segments and joined by a hinge on the front of the lower receiver, while the upper receiver houses the bolt, barrel and magazine assembly. The Wolverine X can reportedly fold to a length of 25 inches for easier storage, however, the Wolverine M is new enough that the specifications aren’t published at this time.

Beretta Defense recently announced that the whole Armed Forces of France have adopted the Benelli Supernova 12 guage shotgun in several configurations, making the Supernova the standard issue shotgun of the French military. Benelli will have a seven-year contract to produce the Supernova shotguns, with a contracted cost of €4,500,000. The convertible Benelli M3 (capable of both pump-action and semi-auto) shotgun is already in use in special French Army units, but the Benelli Supernova had to go through its own testing process, which was reportedly “severe,” but undisclosed at this time. For the money, there are a lot of features: it’s got beautiful wood furniture, a nice gunmetal gray ceramic finish, fiber optic sights, an optic rail, and an integral muzzle brake. Masterkey-style shotguns are very well known within the United States but they are also a rare find within the wilds of the firearms community. This is due mostly because of ATF regulations that turn such a shortened underslung shotgun into a short-barreled shotgun (SBS). The Turkish firearms company Akdas makes a wide variety of shotguns one of which is the AK12 UBS. The UBS comes complete as a somewhat odd-looking shotgun, but what makes it unique is that it can be detached from its stock and reattached to a Picatinny rail in a matter of minutes.

The legendary Mossberg 590 has just received an all-new lineup that is now compatible with a wide variety of shotgun shells from 3″ magnums all the way down to the tiny 1.75″ mini shells. The new Mossberg 590s shotgun features a redesigned elevator and bolt slide as well as an energy-absorbing bumper for maximum flexibility with any 12-gauge shotgun shell right out of the box.

In this episode of TFBTV, Hop previews the newest model of the venerable Mossberg 590 shotgun: the 590S. The Mossberg 590S is everything you know and love about the 590, but with some internal tweaks that allow it to reliably cycle mini shells without the use of an adapter. The new 590S, and 590S Shockwave will feed 2 3/4″, 3″, and 1 3/4″ short shells interchangeably. Using short shells gives you a 50 percent increase in capacity and a significant reduction in recoil. In a full-size shotgun like the 590, they’re a bit of a gimmick, but in the stubby Shockwave, they actually start to make sense.

Welcome to TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 13. For the last couple of months, James over at TFBTV has been going through a pretty extensive series of videos centered around shotguns. You asked James Reeves to test the ultra-budget $200 Mossberg Maverick 88, one of the cheapest shotguns money can buy. James accepted your challenge, and, in this video, he accessorizes the Mossberg Maverick 88 and takes it to the range to subject it to a 505-round torture test of mixed 12 gauge loads. James and the crew from the St. Bernard Indoor Shooting Center in Arabi, LA subject the Maverick 88 to one round of 12 gauge every 9 seconds for 77 straight minutes. How’d it do? Smith & Wesson‘s M&P series has seen significant success and tremendous expansion over the years. Although it’s best known for striker-fired handguns, including some of the market’s best-selling everyday carry/concealed carry-intended pistols along with some duty models, they’ve dabbled in some long guns as well. If you’re an adherent of the S&W brand and like the AR platform, they offer M&P rifles in 5.56mm NATO/.223 Remington, .22 Long Rifle, 7.62×51/.308 Winchester, and 6.5 Creedmoor. Now the M&P family is expanding yet again, this time into new territory. Meet the new M&P12 shotgun.

Smith & Wesson is making a shotgun (again), but this time, it’s a futuristic dual-tube bullpup 12 gauge: The Smith & Wesson M&P 12 shotgun. Part of the “Military & Police” line, this tactical bullpup pump shotgun holds fifteen 2 3/4″ shells, thirteen 3″ shells, or TWENTY mini-shells. Operators switch from tube to tube by using a cross-bolt tube selector switch. The M&P 12 uses AR-15 grips and has plenty of M-LOK and Picatinny rail for optics mounting. It’s a well-thought-out design, but with an MSRP of $1,165, how does it compare to competition such as the similar Kel-Tec KSG bullpup shotgun that has a $900 MSRP? Watch today’s video to find out.

About 6 years ago, Adaptive Tactical introduced their EX Performance Forend and Stock for Remington and Mossberg shotguns. The at the time new forend used a high-strength polymer that was equipped with a 2″ section of Picatinny rail so that a light or laser could be attached.
