TFB Review: The Craziness of the PTR 32 KF

In all honesty, I never planned on buying a PTR 32 KF and it stemmed from a rather simple mistake that turned into a new gun purchase. I was online and instead of ordering 100 rounds of 5.56 ammo, I ordered a 1,000 round case of 7.62×39. I still to this day don’t understand whose mistake it was, but rather than trying to get my money back, I decided to buy a new gun. Since I was young. I grew up shooting AKs and variations of the AK system so I wanted to look for something a bit different. I checked out a few different AR-15s in 7.62×39 but ended up liking the PTR 32 most.

DNO Firearms DX-7 Rifle With Prototype 3D Printed Polymer Receivers

DNO Firearms has published a video where they test a DX-7 rifle with 3D printed polymer receivers. The DX-7 rifle is basically an improved AK that utilizes upper and lower receiver layout still using many standard AK parts with no or minor changes. The original DX-7 receivers are made of aluminum, however, looks like the design of these receivers will allow to successfully make their polymer versions, too. Let’s watch the mentioned video.

TFB Review: Springfield Armory Saint Victor .308

A couple months ago I received the SAINT VICTOR from Springfield Armory for review. I am a fan of the AR10 platform, own a couple so, I was ready to put it through the “TFB wringer”. As all in the Saint line do, the Victor arrived in a case with two magazines and a “SAINT” morale patch. My last rifle arrived in a cardboard box with no magazine. Although they’re small details, it does give it a cool factor you do not always get these days

TFB 6 Month Review – The PWS MK116 MOD 2-M

Over the last 6 months, I’ve run the Primary Weapons Systems as my main rifle and it’s been an interesting ride. When I first started looking at PWS line up of guns, I was really curious how the long stroke gas piston system worked so I ordered the MK116 MOD 2-M rifle. The rifle may look like an AR-15 but apart from looks, the gun is almost entirely different from your standard AR rifle.

Building Clone Rifles – How To Get Started

I heard how rewarding it was to build a “clone” rifle probably five or six years ago, so I decided to go for it and built an MK12 MOD 0 about four years ago. Clone rifles are a great way to build something you can use your imagination and learn a lot about history. It starts to also show why guys built the rifles the way they did during combat deployments. We get so caught up in the gun community with the newest and greatest around we tend to forget to look back and appreciate how we got to this point. I’ve gotten a lot of questions about what the best way to build a clone rifle is and there are a few different aspects to look at when starting your build.

Israel's New Battle Rifle From IWI: The Carmel

The 5.56x45mm Carmel was introduced recently by IWI Israel. We haven’t really gotten a chance to get our hands on one until now when we caught up to IWI in Tel Aviv, Israel. No word yet on whether or not the rifle would be introduced to the U.S. commercial market but it does look like IWI wants to market it for the international export marketplace with military users.

ISDEF 2019: Orsis K15 .308 Win 'Bro', Hints of Finish Options

Orsis was at ISDEF 2019 with the relatively new to U.S. readers .308 Win ‘Bro’ semiautomatic precision rifle. Known more for their T-5000 manually repeating rifles in use throughout the world, the K15 is the company’s entry into the semiautomatic field. As of yet, we don’t know of any large scale Military or Law Enforcement orders for the K15 and company representatives didn’t mention any upcoming ones at ISDEF 2019 either. Since our earlier post on the rifle, we’ve noticed some minor differences to this most recent version, most that appear to be cosmetic or accessory-based in nature. First and foremost, the safety pictograms have been redesigned and moved about an inch up on the receiver. The selector is of a different design than earlier as well. Looking at the stock, we now see that the display rifle has a FAB Defense GL-CORE CP AR-15 telescoping and cheek rest configurable stock, mounted on a Russian Hartman AR15 buffer tube.

TR3 – The Civilian Version of AK-12 and AK-15 Rifles

A couple of months ago we reported about the prototype of a civilian AK-12 rifle that was being tested by competition shooters in Russia. That rifle had a model designation Saiga-AK12. Several days ago, Kalashnikov Concern announced that 2,000 deactivated AK-12 rifles will be sold to the civilians. And the latest news is that the civilian versions of both AK-12 and AK-15 rifles will soon hit the shelves of Russian gun stores under a new model designation of AK TR3.

TFB Review: SIG Sauer P365 18 Months Later

When I first picked up my P365 in January of 2018, I was one of the lucky few to actually find one. I drove down in one of the worst snowstorms I’ve ever seen, but I was determined to pick up this elusive gun right after returning from the SHOT Show. Right after filling out the paperwork, I jumped in my truck and drove through a foot of snow to shoot the gun. Fast forward 18 months, and not much has changed for me with this gun.

TFB FIELD STRIP: M1 Carbine

The M1 Carbine was in service for three decades with the United States military (and others) and served in quite a few wars.  After the retirement of the M1 Carbine, it was still in use by police departments around the world.  The M1 Carbine gets mixed reviews online, but I’ve always found them a joy to shoot.  You can look back at the Carbine’s TFB coverage  HERE.  You can also view the M1 Carbine Field Manual HERE.  For a deeper look into the M1, M2 and M3 Carbines and its intricacies, you can view the Technical Manual HERE.  I’d like to thank my Father-in-law for the use of his Carbine for this article.

TFB Exclusive: BG Defense's Contractor AR Piston Series

Now I can already tell some of you are reading the title wondering who  BG Defense is and I can understand why. They are a growing custom AR manufacturer in Grand Rapids, MI and they are somewhat of a rarity. In a sea of small AR manufacturers, these guys live and breath AR-15s. They do mostly government and Law Enforcement contracts for various departments around the country but are pushing more into the commercial market. I can hear some of you guys groaning saying get on with it and talk about the rifle.

Steel VS Polymer AR Magazines. What's More Reliable?

With the market flooded in AR magazines, there’s been the age-old rivalry between metal magazines and polymer magazines. Often there are debates between people on which style magazine they prefer and give a number of reasons. There are also companies who make hybrid magazines which use both metal and polymer features. So what do you buy? I’ll break it down and give my perspective on the debate.
