In this episode of TFBTV, James tames the Smith & Wesson .500 Magnum, the most powerful production handgun in the world. This gun is 5 times as powerful as a .357 Magnum and twice as big as a .44 Magnum. S&W has created a real monster here, but how does it shoot? Does it have any practical applications? James discusses this (and smashes some Mountain Dew) in today’s episode of TFBTV.

The Colt "Shields"?

It was called the “ Golden age of Hijacking,” between 1968 to 1972, no less than 130 American airliners were hijacked and routed to foreign airfields by individuals that were passengers on board, and who sneaked in a knife or a handgun. The reasons varied from political stance to ransom money. Cuba was the destination of choice for most of them as it was the nearest “hostile to US landing site” and it was pictured in the confused minds of many of the hijackers as the perfect “social worker paradise”. The airline company that took the lion share of those hijacks was a Miami based company named Eastern Airlines. Eastern had 45 of their aircraft hijacked; 27 of those in 1972 alone. The company launched an expensive and extensive security program, and the manager of operational security, a man named John Edward Shields, was installed to provide full cooperation with the FAA and their newly minted Sky Marshal Program.

Breaking News: NEW Colt Bright Cobra .38 SPL+P comes to Light

Colt made a lot of jaws drop when they announced the re-introduction of double-action revolvers back in January 2017. That initial offering of a Cobra was a bit of a departure from the double-action revolvers they used to produce with its matte finish and rubber grip. The 2nd iteration of the Colt Cobra came this last January with the unveiling of the Night Cobra. This specialized revolver with more concealed carry motivated traits was an even more modern take on the classic name. Now we are seeing the 3rd installment in this series of revolvers with the Bright Cobra.

PSA: Negligent Discharge Almost Takes Out 6 Cops in India

In a case of what might be severe firearms safety negligence on the part of six officers of the law in the Indian district of Mainpuri, one of their fellow officers was handling a service handgun when he accidentally discharged a single round into the room. An earlier account mentions seven wounded but a separate article published the day afterward states six. From the same earlier article it mentioned that the handgun was s revolver. Unfortunately for the other officers, the interior of the room was made out of wood. The bullet appears to have caused enough splinters from the impact (or a ricochet as the article suggests) that several officers were lightly wounded due to the flying debris. One of them suffered a facial injury that probably could have taken out his eyesight had the splinter been closer. According to the article, the Inspecter who fired the round was actually from a different police district or station, and was at a police armory when the incident occurred.

Rock Island April 2018 Premiere Firearms Auction Sets 10 World Records!

I was going to write another overview of the most expensive firearms sold at recently ended Rock Island April 2018 Premiere Firearms auction in the same fashion that I have been doing it before. However, this time the auction was quite different – it set 10 world records of firearms sold at auctions. So instead of doing a top ten list, I thought it would be more interesting for our readers if I dedicate the article to the firearms that set these price records. And this time we will start with the most significant and expensive one. The record titles link to the corresponding Rock Island Auction Company website pages where you can learn more about these firearms. It is also important to understand that these records refer to sales in auction houses because it is impossible to know the sums of all the private deals.

Guns vs. Sex Lube? Testing Grips and Slides with "Personal" Lubricant [April Fool's Special]

In this very special April Fool’s edition of TFBTV, James Reeves takes a light look at a heavy myth: Is it true that forward slide serrations are important for operating a handgun while your hands are slippery? What about the grip? Is a slippery grip too difficult to handle for mag changes, shooting, and manipulating a pistol? How important are slide serrations and grip? Which is more important? James completely lubes up several pistols to test this myth out: If your hands are covered in Astroglide and you can still work a pistol, is stippling still critical? All these questions and more answered today with a side of jorts and Michelob Ultra.
