Nighthawk Custom Introduces Four New Korth Revolvers

Nighthawk Custom is introducing four new Korth revolvers in .357 Magnum.  Whether or not you can afford the premium price tags, Korth revolvers are not easily forgotten.  TFB has covered them in the past and they are known for more traditional designs as well as the tactical features on some of their recent models.  Korth revolvers are made in Germany and Imported by Nighthawk Custom.  The four new revolvers from Korth are: Super Sport-Blue ALX, Super Sport-Red ULX, Ranger, and Mongoose Sliver.  The following images and specifications are from Nighthawk’s website.

Wheelgun Wednesday: Target Conversion Of A S&W M1917 Revolver

Welcome to another edition of our weekly Wheelgun Wednesdays!  Since Pete’s announcement about adding Wheelgun Wednesdays, I was eager to find something unique.  The subject of this Wednesday’s Wheelgunnery is unique, not earth-shattering, but something you don’t see every day.  A member of AR15.com recently stumbled into an interesting trade for an accurized Smith & Wesson M1917 revolver.  Sporterizing surplus firearms is certainly not unheard of, but it’s nice to see an example of a sporterized firearm in which care was taken to do it right, with a clear goal in mind.  All pictures were used with permission.

Wheelgun Wednesday: The Smith & Wesson 686 Plus Magnum

Welcome back to another edition of Wheelgun Wednesday! I love handguns, I didn’t grow up shooting them and the first time I ever got my hands on one I was already 12 years old and knee-deep into shooting rifles. The first handgun I had ever fired happened to be a Uberti 1873 Cattleman, a 12 shot .22 LR caliber revolver.

Concealed Carry Corner: Carrying While Hunting – Why It's Important

Concealed carrying a handgun while hunting is viewed differently around the country depending on what part of the country you’re in. Carrying a handgun out west is pretty common due to the various wildlife but in the midwest, it is less common. I’ve been asked several times on social media about carrying a handgun while hunting so let’s dive into it.

WHEELGUN WEDNESDAY: Colt King Cobra Target Revolver

Colt is expanding the revived snake family of revolvers with a new version of the recently released King Cobra. The re-release of the Colt King Cobra will catch the eye of shooters and collectors alike.

TFB Book Review: The Custom Revolver by Hamilton Bowen

The Custom Revolver likely is not a new title to most of TFB readers, as it is a classic published almost 20 years ago. In its hardcover form, it quickly went out of stock and its qualities and rarity made it a collectible. It may seem an odd choice to review such a dated, albeit extremely valuable, publication, but the idea to write about this book came from 2 recent events:

Wheelgun Wednesday: S&W Reintroduces Model 648 Revolver

Welcome to Wheelgun Wednesday – where we will discuss everything related to the semiautomatic handgun world. I kid, I kid. But we will be starting to have more revolver content here at TFB, starting with a book review later this week by Giorgio O. Luckily for us, we have talented staff who can speak with authority on the topic of revolvers. Because the last thing you want me doing is waxing about wheelguns. Speaking of which, Smith & Wesson is reintroducing the Model 648 Revolver chambered .22WMR.

TFB Top Picks: The Best Revolvers On The Market

Great, a Best Revolver article written by a guy who believes a defensive handgun should be a semiautomatic and be made of polymer. You can go ahead and stop reading now. All kidding aside, my advice to everyone looking for a defensive weapon is buy something that works for you and learn how to shoot it accurately. But, I’m still not a revolver guy. Model advice seen below comes on the advice of TFB staff who do use and carry a broad range of wheel guns, and honestly, I’m surprised at the volume of recommendations. For this list, I used the staff pics and sorted them based on a range of prices, availability and reputation. After looking at the numbers, I think we may have to revisit the topic in two or three subcategories: maybe snub nose, large frame and full-sized best revolvers.

Concealed Carry Corner: Carrying Concealed at Home – Can It Be Beneficial?

When I started concealed carrying I thought most people carry in their home as well as in public. After working in the industry and talking to a ton of everyday people who carry, I’m honestly shocked at how many people decide not to carry in the home. The most common thing I hear from people when asked why they don’t carry in their house is the simple fact they feel they don’t need to. I respect this because it feels like a safe haven for certain people.

Standard Manufacturing S333 Thunderstruck Now Shipping

If you see this little blaster first time, don’t worry, you don’t have vision issues – it indeed has two barrels. Moreover, it fires two rounds simultaneously upon a trigger pull – a type of firing that is defined as volley fire which is different from the full auto definition. In fact, when Standard Manufacturing first showed this gun (January 2019), it was called S333 Volleyfire. Apparently, they renamed it to S333 Thunderstruck and now you can purchase this pocket artillery piece.

Concealed Carry Corner: Pocket Carry – Is It a Safe Idea?

When I was younger, I heard a ton of different negative arguments about carrying a handgun inside your pocket. I decided to start pocket carrying about eight years ago and I’ve definitely have learned things along the way. Pocket carrying is like anything else and should be looked at as a tool in your toolbox rather than a single solution for all problems.

Big Bore Handguns – Why It's the Best and Worst to Own!

Usually, in the shooting community, there are two types of people. The first are the people who love big bore handguns either for hunting or just a range gun. The second are the people who see zero purposes to big bore handguns. Big bore handguns can be intimidating but once people shoot them, they usually can see the appeal.

NEW Ruger SUPER GP100 Competition Revolver

Ruger has added a new competition revolver to their Custom Shop products. The new wheel gun is called Super GP100. This is not just a tuned GP100 but rather a hybrid of a GP100 and Redhawk. It is based on a Redhawk frame that allows having a large 8-round .357 Magnum cylinder but it also inherited the dual-spring clockwork from the GP100/Super Redhawk which is more suitable to be tuned and allowed Ruger engineers to design a light competition trigger.

Vincent van Gogh's Revolver to be Auctioned in France

It’s broken, it’s completely covered in rust, it’s non-restorable – would be only useful as a paperweight if not the history behind this 7mm pinfire revolver. Attributed to Vincent van Gogh, this is probably the gun that the great artist used to commit suicide by shooting himself in the chest and ending his life in 1890. This revolver is auctioned at Druout Auction House in Paris, France and has an estimated price of €40,000 – €60,000.

Here's Why I Think A Revolver In 10mm Is A Great Idea (Return Of The S&W 610)

The 610 is back! I’m a huge fan of The Centimeter and I also have a soft spot for Smith & Wesson revolvers. So I was excited when I found out that Smith & Wesson was bringing back the 610. The Model 610 is an N frame revolver chambered in 10mm Auto but it can also shoot .40 S&W. It’s been on again off again in production since 1990 and limited numbers were made so it’s always been a bit hard to get hold of.

TFB Review: Smith & Wesson Performance Center 629 Competitor .44 Magnum

Magnums are fun because they inspire so many reactions from people and they are all unique. Some people conjure up thoughts of Dirty Harry while others only think of recoil. Some others yet, like me, start theorizing what big-game animals we could potentially hunt. Regardless of the camp you fall in, a good magnum revolver will put a smile on anybody’s face. Especially one that is light enough to carry all day, can hit its target at distance, can knock-down big-game, and is not terribly punishing to shoot. In my mind, one wheelgun I believed that could potentially check all of those boxes was the Smith & Wesson Performance Center 629 Competitor .44 Magnum, and in this TFB Review we will see if my hypothesis holds true.
