CZUSA Teases Reflex Suppressed Scorpion for 2018

Cyber Monday means something a bit different to the folks at CZ USA. Quietly dropping a bomb on their Instagram page, CZ released a design mock-up of an integrally reflex suppressed Scorpion. In what they are referring to as a sneak peak at the 2018 new products lineup, a fully welded titanium reflex silencer sits under an HB Industries handguard. From the looks of the picture, the barrel is not ported, so the term “integrally suppressed” is used a bit loosely*.

Contact! G-Code's Nifty Chest Rig System

For those “in the know” they know G-Code. G-Code has always been behind the scenes, typically keeping a low-profile but has been busy partnering with various companies creating some of the most influential products today. Some may know them for the INCOG sytem developed in conjuction with Travis Hailey. The “tactical fuzz” is often maligned, but as an EDC holster for my G43, I know of no kydex system more comfortable.

Brownells Visits Volquartsen – Uncovers Stainless Scorpion

Why add a stainless steel version of the match grade Al Scorpion? I asked the same question. Apparently many shooters prefer the feel of a heavier weight pistol over the aluminum version. Also, some owners wanted a fully stainless gun rather than an hard anodized frame upper. Either way, functionality and accuracy will remain the same for both versions.

Free-Float And Suppress: HB Scorpion Handguards

If I am being completely honest, as much as I like the idea of the CZ Scorpion as a pistol caliber carbine, the aesthetics of the OEM handguard leave a lot to be desired. But like most parts of the firearms industry, if you are patient enough to wait, innovative companies will come along and fill the voids with all sorts of customization products. HB Industries will soon release a series of forends for the Scorpion that offer M-LOK attachment options and varying lengths.

Volquartsen Scorpion .22LR Pistol

Kirsten Joy Weiss reviews her Volquartsen Scorpion pistol.  It is a striking looking race gun. I would like to try it and see how it compares to my friend’s one of a kind Limcat .22LR pistol. I would put an optic on it as it would make the gun faster for target acquisition. Kirsten shoots a steel plate rack in the video but seems a bit slow at it. I don’t know if she competes for time as opposed to accuracy. Plate racks of that size I have managed 2.01 secs and my friend Tom usually beats me. However I was using a .22LR M&P15-22 and not a pistol. I might be able to match that with my STI Steel Master. Anyways this pistol looks like it would be fun to race with at a Steel Challenge Match. I wonder how well the comp works. Typically in Open Division guns, like the Limcat and STI race guns, the hotter the load the more gas is vented which makes the comps work better. So for this Scorpion pistol would a high velocity round be better to get the comp to work?

Gear Head Works CZ Scorpion Paddle Magazine Release

The new CZ Scorpion EVO III is an huge ergonomic improvement over the previous iterations of the Scorpion platform. With ambidextrous safety/selector, magazine release, and a reversible charging handle, the weapon is a far more modern design (though I do not know why they did not do the ambi bolt catch/release; C’mon CZ!).

Manticore AK and Scorpion highlights

Manticore had some interesting AK and CZ Scorpion developments out for Bullpup 2015, some were in prototype form and others are currently out for sale. Either way, most of what you see here will be out there in the near future. Some of them are still in the prototype stage 3D printing and thus in polymer, as I found out by folding back one of the buttstocks on the AK and Sven, the owner of Manticore shouts out, “Be careful! That’s plastic!”. But all was good and nothing was broken at the end of the day.
