Texas-based Bond Arms have a new affordable range of derringers – the Rough Series which includes three new pistols. They also have a new exclusive Dead Man’s Hand themed pistol shipping only through Davidson’s and a new slim 9x19mm pistol – the Stinger.

Palmetto State Armory has always been known for their budget friendly AR-15 rifles and parts kits, they then moved onto AK-47s, then it was AK and AR hybrids. Well now they’ve debuted their own line of pistols. At SHOT Show 2020 they launched their PS9 Dagger pistol.

Out on the FN booth, on a pedestal all of its own, was the new FN Mk48 Mod. 2 6.5CM light machine gun, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, it was a response to a US Special Operations Command tender for a version of the 7.62×51 Mk48, a larger calibre variant of FN’s Minimi (or the M249 normally chambered in 5.56×45).

Brownells debuted a few new products at SHOT Show 2020. Their new 4x Carry Handle Optic, BRN-180 lower receivers, and What Would Stoner Do rifles.

Norma has introduced an entirely new line of ammunition that is perfect for an assortment of cartridges in close-up training drills. They debuted their Range & Training Frangibles at SHOT Show this year during the “Industry Day at the Range” so as many people could shoot them on steel as possible, and experience these frangibles for themselves.

Norma has started off the year with a BANG! with their Norma MHP (Monolithic Hollow Point) by garnering adulation and strong attention from the shooting industry as a result of their all-copper construction projectile. The National Rifle Association (NRA) has awarded Norma a Golden Bullseye Award for being selected as Shooting Illustrated’s 2020 Ammunition Product of the Year.

Mirzon, a Washington state-based manufacturer, had their new Enhanced Grip Module for the SIG Sauer P320 and P250 on display at this year’s SHOT Show. Mirzon’s after-market frames for the popular SIG pistols offers a significant ergonomic upgrade.

Comprising of just 6 parts it is quite possibly the simplest gun at SHOT 2020. It sidesteps convention by having now trigger or trigger guard, rudimentary sights and a profile which is almost sci-fi in shape. Comprising of a molded polymer grip and receiver, a stainless steel 2in barrel (which has micro groove rifling) and a simple firing mechanism – which is not unlike those seen in some modern snap release crossbows. With inevitable comparisons to clandestine weapons like the famous WWII Liberator pistols and the later CIA Dear guns it would be interesting to see if Altor Corp’s pistol could be suppressed.

Loading mags are a pain, there’s no doubt about that. There’s a bunch of various pistol and rifle magazine loading contraptions out on the market, but most of them require you to load or align the ammo a certain way before you can push them into the magazine. Not with the MagPump, you simply load your magazine into it, drop ammo into the top, then pump away.

I stopped by Sun Optics’ SHOT Show booth to find they are now known as SOUSA (Sun Optics USA – see what they did there?) With the new name comes a series of new ranges of optics including red dots and scopes. For now the company’s popular mounts will stay under the Sun Optics banner.

Maxim Defense has broken into the firearms industry in a smashing fashion in recent years with their impressive collapsible braces as well as their PDX weapon system (as seen above). At SHOT Show 2020 they once again brought us something new with their Maxim Defense MDX series! This is a series of ultra-compact, PDW-style firearms, but with slightly longer barrels and collapsible braces or stocks (depending on if it is an SBR or AR pistol configuration).

At SHOT Show 2020, Armscor, the parent company of Rock Island Armory debuted a few new shotguns as well as a compact double stack 1911 and tactical rifle chambered in 22 TCM.

Springfield Armory has turned a lot of heads when they announced at SHOT Show their SAINT Edge PDW chambered in 5.56mm NATO, but a nearly equally exciting product announcement has been their SAINT Edge EVAC! This is an AR pistol platform that boasts the ability to fold and break it down into a compact footprint so small that it practically would fit in a lunchbox-sized case.

One of the most exciting firearms from “Industry Day at the Range” at SHOT Show was their New SAINT Edge PDW chambered in 5.56mm NATO. This incredibly compact firearm boasts a lot of quality in such a small sized personal defense weapon (PDW).
