Rebuttal: Suppressed SIG MPX Can Spit Back In Your Face

When James’ video about suppressed MPXs not having blowback was posted I watched it and immediately emailed him that I personally have experienced a suppressed SIG MPX violently spit back in my face. Why and how does this happen? As far as I can tell, it happens with a particular set up. Specifically a SilencerCo Octane 9 on an 8 inch MPX. Others may have experienced significant blow back with their setups. But this is the one I have tried and know it will always spit back.

TFBTV Mythbusting: Silenced SIG MPX

In the comments to James’ recent video review of the SIG MPX (click here to see it), he noticed that a number of TFB viewers said the MPX was filthier than daytime television when you shot it suppressed. Given that so many TFBTV commenters claimed that a silenced MPX would gas out anyone behind the stock, James hung an AAC Evo-9 off the MPX’s muzzle to test this myth. In this episode, James discovers: “Is the silenced MPX more Billy Ray or more Miley?” Check today’s TFBTV to find out.

MAC Plays with the New SIG MPX Collapsible Arm Brace By SB Tactical

In either a stroke of clairvoyance or lunacy, the ATF arbitrarily decided one in the favor of gun owners with the new approved arm braces by SB Tactical. Of note, the new braces are attached to collapseable rails to create a multi-functional arm “braces” which are legal for any civilian in the United States to attach to a “pistol”. As Tim points out, pistols have advantageous legal characteristics such as not having to apply to cross state lines.

TFB's Weight Omnibus Part 3.1: Stragglers!

The most consistent request I received in the comments of my Weight Omnibus posts (if you didn’t catch them, here are Part I, Part II, and Part III) was to continue to expand the content of this series, both in the guns measured and the analysis of them. Further analysis will have to wait until another day, but earlier this week I received the chance to weigh six more firearms to add to the 58 I weighed for my original three posts. So, here is the TFB Weight Omnibus Part 3.1: Stragglers!

[SHOT 2016] Lancer handguard for Sig MPX

Lancer has come out with a handguard for the Sig MPX series of SBRs or pistols. They are in their classic M LOK configuration, and come in either 8 inch, 10 inch, or 14 inch lengths for the different barrel lengths that the MPX comes in. The handguards attach to the rifle via the normal installation methods. The top rail of the MPX is maintained as that is apart of the Sig gas system, while the handguards wrap around the barrel, below the top picatinny rail. The M LOK sections are at the traditional 3,6, and 9 o’clock, while there are also additional sections between the 9 and the 6 o’clock, and the 3 and 6 o’clock positions. Similar to the Springfield Armory CQB, M LOK was picked because Keymod would have been much harder to fit into the carbon fiber handguards while maintaining its shape. There is an addition section of the handguard that extends past the top rail, also with M LOK sections, while the sides of this part have the serrated and angled cuts similar to the cuts that the MPX already has in the top section. At this time I don’t have an MSRP for the MPX handguards, but I think it’ll be in the $200-300 range, similar to some of their other carbon fiber handguards.

The SIG MPX: The King is dead, long live The King

In this episode of TFBTV provided as a counterpoint to Alex’s MP5 video, James and Army Ranger Jacque B. take an in-depth look at the short barrel rifle version of the brand new SIG MPX. The SIG MPX is SIG’s new pistol caliber subgun that shares many features with the AR15/M16 platform, including a rotating bolt and common controls. It is also convertible from 9mm to .357SIG to .40S&W. James compares it to the Heckler & Koch MP5 and goes over disassembly, the internals, the quick change barrels, and brings some sweet, semi-erotic, slow-mo MPX footage to TFBTV.

hickok45 Reviews the SIG MPX Suppressed

The SIG MPX-SD has been making the media rounds not only because it’s a cool gun but because it’s internally suppressed. Thanks to companies like SIG and SilencerCo, the push to make suppressors more readily available is greater than ever. The technology is certainly advancing as well with guns like the SIG MPX-SD and SilencerCo’s Maxim 9 hitting the market. Suppressors present a wide range of possibilities for gun owners from better hunting experiences to preserved hearing to better odds for self-defense.
