POTD: M9 and M17 in Marksmanship Competition
The handgun is what you use to fight your way to your rifle, isn’t that a saying we can all agree with? TFB’s Photo Of The Day shows a variety of M9 and M17 pistols used by the U.S. Marines. NEW SIG Sauer ROMEO-X and ROMEO-X PRO – Standard Footprints!
Back at SHOT Show 2023, during the SIG Sauer Range Day, we got to look at the new SIG Sauer Electro-Optics Red Dot, the ROMEO-M17. Much to the chagrin of TFBTV viewers and those who liked the features that the M17 offered, customers weren’t able to get it since it had a proprietary SIG-LOC mounting interface for the M17/M18 military-issue handgun. Today SIG Sauer Electro-Optics is excited to announce the new RMSc footprint ROMEO-X series of optics which will include the smaller ROMEO-X meant for the RMSc footprint, and the ROMEO-X PRO meant for all P320, and DeltaPoint PRO footprints.
SIG SAUER Auctioning Numbers-Matching M17 and M18 for Charity
SIG SAUER‘s M17 and M18 pistols have served as America’s official service sidearms for six years, having been officially adopted as the winner of the US Army’s XM17 Modular Handgun System competition in 2017. The respective full-size and shorter carry-length models replaced the Beretta M9, which had been in service since 1985 after replacing the venerable 1911. Military units have been gradually phasing in the M17 and M18 over the last few years, with the company celebrating their 100,000th handgun delivery to the DoD in 2019. Now a special matched pair of these handguns are being auctioned for charity, benefiting the military-supporting Sterling Promise Foundation. This organization honors Staff Sergeant Scott Sterling, who succumbed to cancer in April 2021 after an illustrious US Army Special Operations career. The press release below provides further details.
SIG SAUER Electro-Optics Introduces ROMEO-M17 Red Dot
SIG SAUER‘s M17 and M18 handguns have been the US military’s official successors to the venerable Beretta M9 since 2017. Both of these 9mm models have been gradually phasing in with units across the branches over the last several years, with civilian-market versions also available for sale. These pistols feature an optics-cut slide as standard, and now SIG has developed a purpose-built optic to suit. Meet the new ROMEO-M17 red dot. Revealed a few months ago at SHOT Show, SIG has now advised that the ROMEO-M17 is coming soon and provided us with additional information about it. Check out the details in the press release copied below.

Friday Night Lights: LaserMaxDefense PAiL Pistol Enhancer – US Army's Pistol MFAL

Get Yourself an M17: SIG's Limited Release M17 X-Change Kit
A lot of people who have an interest in firearms, myself included, have a fondness for military history. This will often lead to collectors wanting firearms that were used by the armed forces. This is problematic if you’re looking for a fully automatic M249 SAW, but it gets a bit easier with handguns. The M17 is the next pistol that falls into that category of military collectibles. To help collectors of such firearms, SIG Sauer has just released a limited run of X-Change kits. Drop-in your P320 FCU (Fire Control Unit) and you have yourself an M17 that’s nearly identical to the military version.
TFB Review: FLUX Raider MP17 – P320 PDW Chassis
FLUX Defense made a name for themselves with their brace for Glock pistols. Since then they came out with their MP17 aka FLUX Raider. It is the most anticipated P320 chassis and even though they have been making it for a while, the demand has not died down. They sell out in minutes. I managed to get one thanks to my friend Alex K. of Nocorium. He had a spare and sold it to me at his cost. So let’s see what makes the FLUX Raider so great.

SIG SAUER Achieves Two Milestones for U.S. Military Handgun
One year ago SIG Sauer announced that they had delivered the 100,000th M17/M18 Pistol to the United States Armed Forces. Time flies and SIG Sauer has now announced that they have delivered another 100,000 Modular Handgun System pistols, for a total of 200,000. For the first time, they have also delivered simultaneously every branch of the U.S. Military. This is quite an achievement considering the challenges from COVID-19 and the huge ongoing demand in the firearms market.
