1911-patterened pistols chambered in .22 LR are all the rage right now in the industry. Umarex USA, who manufacture the .22 Colt M4 Carbine, will be selling a Colt branded 1911-style .22 pistol later this year. The pistol will come in three models. The Government-style model is the base model. The Rail model features improved sights, a picatinny rail and skeletonized trigger and hammer. A Gold Cup has been mentioned but I do not know what its features are.

Jane’s reports that Jordan arms manufacturer KADDB will be manufacturing the LWRC International 6.8mm PSD sub-carbine and under license for use by royal protection units.

The Danish Army has just signed a contract with Colt Canada for 5000 Colt C8 IUR carbine. The carbines will be designed the M/10. The guns feature quad rails and a fore grip.

This weeks movie gun is the Colt Police Positive which was used in the 1934 detective film The Thin Man. The small frame double-action revolver was introduced by Colt in 1907. This beautiful specimen was engraved and presented to William Powell.

Back in the 1930s Colt developed a few experimental fully automatic M1911 pistols. It is hard to believe that anyone thought that a .45 ACP machine pistol was a practical idea!

One of Colt’s people at Media Day told me that the Colt SCW (Sub Compact Weapon), or at least the short buffer tube and foldable stock, will be coming to a semi-automatic civilian legal rifle.

The American Journal of Roentgenology published a fascinating article back in 2001 about an incident at a MRI imaging center in western New York State. An off-duty police entered the MRI scanner room and attempted to place his Colt M1991 A1 pistol on the top of a cabinet. The pistol was wrenched from his grip by the magnetic field. It was pulled towards the machine and then discharged!
