Atibal, known for their inexpensive optics with a growing reputation, has announced the release of their latest optic, the MROC – Modern Rifle Optic Component. The MROC is a 3×32 prismatic optic designed to feature a large field of view, which can be uncommon with magnified optics. POTD: Malaysian Navy Special Forces H&K MP7
My friend Irfan sent me this photo. It was posted on the Royal Malaysian Navy Facebook page. It is a photo celebrating Malaysian Independence. The guy on the right is a member of PASKAL: The Pasukan Khas Laut (Naval Special Warfare Forces). He is holding an H&K MP7 with Acog.
Afghan Special Forces Shoot Cans Out Of Hand
Found this gem on Facebook. The solider is using an M4 variant with what looks like a Trijicon Acog, PEQ, and possibly a SureFire weapon light. It goes without saying that this is dangerous and should not be attempted. However I do commend the skill set of the soldier that made these shots. It is rather close range but I would not want to be the guy holding the soda cans. Please do not try this at home.
Be Our Guest Rifle Parody Video
Phuc Long of Firepower United made a parody of Disney’s Be Our Guest, the famous song from Beauty and the Beast. He re-wrote the lyrics to reflect options to accessorize your rifles. You can hear his accent fade as he forces a faux French accent. I think Phuc Long is the Asian equivalent of FPS Russia. They are simply characters that these guys personify for flair, their accents are over the top and unrealistic for those who are familiar with people who do have legitimate accents. Regardless of the faux accents, the content is funny and entertaining.
Primary Arms ACSS Broken Down Barney Style by MrGunsNGear
Primary Arms hit the jackpot when they created the ACSS. With their less expensive optics, it has proven to be a rock-star in the optics world and is so good that Trijicon themselves have picked up the reticle for inclusion in ACOGs – a move that I believe speaks volumes about the technical innovation of the scope and more importantly the character of those running the company.
RS Regulate AK Optic mounts
Recently, I was interviewed by my friend and gun author Robert Kay for his book on how to buy an AK. Bob asked me for a recommendation on an AK optic mount for one of his books chapters. Without hesitation, I said any of the RS Regulate’s AK-300 series of receiver side-rail optic mounts.
Lucid Introduces the P7 4x Optic
Lucid has introduced their P7 4x Optic, a fixed-power low-magnification combat scope. Featuring a new reticle designed with a built-in BDC. Rather than orient the optic specifically to one loading and barrel length, the optic features 8 MOA drop dots, numbered on the right.

Trijicon is now offering their 3.5×35 and 4×32 ACOG scopes with a BDC (Bullet Drop Compensation) reticle designed for the .300 AAC Blackout cartridge. The reticle is marked out to 600 yards for supersonic .300 BLK loads and 200 yards for subsonic loads. The diamonds drop markers are 2 MOA in width.
The Chinese TMJ-3 Multipurpose Integrated Weapon Sight
This new Chinese sight, made for the QBZ95-1 Bullpup, recently appeared on various Chinese internet forums. The sight is developed by Zhongshan SheJian Police Equipment Technology, a private company.
Trijicon ACOGs now with (X)M-193 BDC Reticles
Trijicon has (finally!) released ACOG sights specifically calibrated for M-193 55 grain rounds out of common 16” barrels. The new scopes are based on the “chevron” reticle to be zeroed at 100 yards and with BDC markings for 300-800 meters. Horizontal hashes are calibrated for 19” (average width of human torso) at the various yardages for easy range estimation.
A Day at Trijicon
Last Fall, I was invited by Trijicon to their writer event at their training facility just south of the Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The morning session was mostly product presentation with a focus on the Trijicon ACOG family, the new battery powered reflex sights such as the RMR mini red-dot and the full size Trijicon SRS. We headed toward the range after a quick lunch.
Scope Review: Lucid HD7 Sight
We all know there are dozens of red dot sights out there from cheap Chinese copies to high end ACOGs. We have very few that combine quality with what many would consider a reasonable price. This is where the Lucid HD7 fits in.
Nickel Boron Plating for ACOG and RMR Optics
Trijicon is now making a number of ACOG and RMR optics with a nickel boron plating for durability and a unique look. The nickel boron finish is available on the following optics:
