Q Suppressors Brings Modular Erector and Durable El Camino Silencers to the Range | SHOT 17
Brand new and enigmatically named suppressor company “Q” had a booth at the SHOT Show 2017 Industry Day at the Range, where they showed off their first two suppressor offerings. The first – announced earlier this year – is the El Camino, a tubular .22 rimfire suppressor made from titanium, intended to provide better accuracy than previous rimfire suppressors available on the market, especially the AAC Element. The El Camino is already available for sale through SilencerShop, for less than $400.
NEW PISTOL: Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite
Continuing with our march towards the 2017 SHOT Show in mid January, Ruger has just announced the 22/45 Lite version of their new Mark IV rimfire pistols. As with the previous MKIV announcement, the headline feature of the new Lite model is the easy push button takedown that separates it from previous generations of the iconic pistol.
Bullpup 2016: Vadum Electronic eBP-22 Bullpup
We covered the Vadum electronic .22 LR several months ago with a comprehensive review on TFB (very solid review by Tom R). Since then, the Vadum team has been working away at the design, and had it not only on display at Bullpup 2016 but also available for live fire down at the demo ranges.
Ruger Enters The Silencer Market With The Silent-SR
Ruger continues to expand its operation into areas it was previously unwilling to enter. This latest entry is a .22 caliber suppressor/silencer that fits their line of threaded .22 caliber rifles and pistols, like the 10/22 and the SR-22. Ruger said the following about the new suppressor, on their website:
.22 conversions Galore!
Now, what you think you saw in the title picture was an MG42 and a British Bren light machine gun. However, what you are actually lovingly gazing at, are .22 LR rifles inserted into the parts kit of those guns, and indeed, are fully functional with their .22 LR magazines and actions (no belts here). The creator of these freakish things of beauty has another thirty or so conversions just like it, and just as similar to their true life counterparts. I stumbled across this gentleman on a Facebook group where he posted some pictures of his work. The guy lives in California, and as a way to buck against the absurd firearms laws, as a hobby, and as a present to his son (he started building them when his son was born), took it upon himself to buy either actual demilled parts kits, or the airsoft shooters modeled after iconic firearms, get either Marlin or 10/22 .22 LR rifles, completely gut out the internals, place the .22 LR receivers/barrels within the actions, and have them in working order. He has done this to an MG34, MG42, Bren, Tavor, H&K UMP, M240, M249, BAR, M14 EBR, and the list just goes on. From his own words-
Walther Introduces .22 LR G36
Walther is increasingly adding its name to the list of manufacturers of .22 LR chambered clones of famous (and often unattainable) guns. Furthering this, they have introduced a G36-style .22 LR chambered rifle, for those who always wanted something that looked like a G36, but shoots like a .22 (and cost a lot less).
Kingston Armory M1 Garand and M14 10/22 Rifles
Inexpensive .22 caliber rifles that are modified to resemble military rifles are nothing new; the Stevens 87M was an early attempt to create a visually modified .22 rifle for military training, and today you can find many .22 LR weapons modified to look like almost any military rifle you want.
Chiappa LA322 Deluxe
Chiappa added a deluxe version of the LA322 take down rifle to its catalog for 2015. Like the original, this is lever action rifle chambered for the .22 LR rimfire cartridge. Also like the existing model, the receiver has a color case finish.
Pocket Rifles – The Origin of .22 LR
Have you ever wondered about the origin of the .22 LR? Have you ever wanted a small, utility rifle for bicycle or pocket carry? It turns out those two subjects are related:
