Riton Announces the 3 Tactix 3X Magnifier

Riton is following up on their recent release of the 1 Tactix ARD 2 red dot sight with an appropriate companion if you want to stretch things out a little further downrange. 3 Tactix 3X Magnifier has quick detach capability and a spring-loaded push button flip-away function. If you can appreciate simplicity in a small lightweight package at a price that’s easy on the wallet, keep reading.

In my opinion, a dot and magnifier combo doesn’t replace a magnified optic if you’re doing that kind of work. I see a magnifier as a temporary attachment that I like to keep stowed and only mount when I think I may need it. This philosophy keeps rifle weight down whenever possible and is why a QD mount is the only way to go.

Over the years, I’ve appreciated a lot of expensive magnifiers that I still own, but the fact that I run them the way I do means they tend to bounce around in my dump pouch and take a bit of a beating. This doesn’t bother me much, but I wouldn’t mind spending less on such an item.

The Riton 3 Tactix 3X Magnifier is constructed from CNC machined 6061-T6 aircraft-grade one-piece aluminum tubes and is type III hard coat anodized for durability and protection against the elements. Speaking of the elements, the 3 Tactix is dry nitrogen purged and sealed to ensure performance under changing weather conditions for the life of the optic.

Riton High Density (HD) glass delivers 99.5% light transmission increasing clarity and providing an optimal sight picture while incorporating proprietary multi-coated lenses for enhanced low light capabilities with anti-scratch and anti-reflective properties.

I have had the opportunity to start testing one of these out and my initial impression of the 3 Tactix is favorable. At first glance, I noticed the ample field of view combined with the slim housing minimizes any tunneling effects I’ve experienced with other magnifiers on the market. The edge-to-edge clarity is also notable and the coatings do an impressive job cutting chromatic aberration, even under the hot Nevada sun.

After years of using magnifiers that flip to the side with a quick smack, the push button may take getting used to as it requires fine motor skills to manipulate. Aside from that, I am looking forward to doing a full review of the Riton 1 Tactix ARD 2 and 3 Tactix 3X Magnifier combo, which, as the gear sadist I tend to be, are currently mounted to my FN SCAR.

All that being said, this tiny compact magnifier weighing less than 8 ounces comes with an MSRP of $249.99.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments below, and stay tuned for a future review to see if this affordable package may suit one of your setups.
