Federal Ammunition has just secured itself another high-profile government contract. According to an announcement from the American ammo manufacturer, it’s secured a 12-month contract to provide 7.62x51mm rifle ammunition to SOCOM.

Federal Ammunition @ TFB:

A one-year deal

You might think that these military ammo supply deals would be a long-term arrangement, but this isn’t the case here. The deal with the United States Special Operations Command sees Federal supplying ammunition for a year. The 175-grain precision match rifle load will be produced at Federal’s factory in Anoka, Minnesota.

Earlier in 2024, Federal had announced a deal to supply its MK316 to the U.S. Navy for two years. Federal’s big boss, Jason Vanderbrink, said this SOCOM deal is a way to continue their long-standing support of the military. In Federal’s PR, the prez/CEO sounded very pleased that his company continued to supply this high-spec ammo to the military:

“Federal’s performance reputation for our match ammunition has always been a competitive advantage shot after shot, lot to lot. MK316 Mod 0 fits in perfectly with Federal’s history of producing extremely accurate ammunition held to tight tolerances required by strict U.S. Military specifications,” said Vanderbrink.

“We are excited for this contract win. It validates the quality of our products, thoroughness of our testing procedures, and dedication to hard work from our American factory workers.”

The deal is worth $3.6M; Federal’s PR does not say how many rounds SOCOM will buy.

The second MK316 deal

As we said earlier, this is the second big deal that Federal has signed for MK316 supply this year. Back in June, we told you there was a two-year deal in place for Federal to supply the U.S. Navy. And as Adam said then, “It is not often that we civilians can get our hands on some MK316 Mod 0 overrun ammo, but if you have been one of those lucky souls, you know how accurate that ammunition can be.”
