Welcome everyone to the 247th edition of 'Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?', one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question - is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the FS2000 was a very hot gat.

At this time the original auction is still up with the tacticool tuna still up for grabs. We can only hope that someone will find it in their hearts to give this retro bullpup a new home.

In this week's edition of HGFC, we look at a 24k gold custom Glock 17 Gen 3 chambered in 9mm. As is tradition, this very gaudy glock is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $2,800 Buy It Now.

HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Day of the Dead or Better Off Unsaid?

Let's see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

"Uggh" - Doug E.
“madre de dios…” - Matt M.

Selling this golden gat is GunBroker seller Bloucreationsllc, located in Phoenix AZ. Let’s see what they had to say about this one-of-a-kind golden Glock 17:

“All done in house. Any design, engrave/deep engrave, mirror polish, nickel and gold plate. @BLoucreationsllc
This is a Glock 17 gen 3. Comes with all customized upper plus.the oem slide. For the times, you just want to shoot at the range and not risk your custom slide. Custom slide does work, or course. This has been mirror polished as seen in the photos, custom designed in a day of the dead type of theme. 24k Gold plated.“

This is one of those guns that just looks too close to the cartel for comfort. I’m certainly not saying the builder/seller is a cartel member, but he or she could have certainly met a guy who knows a guy at some point. If you catch my drift.

Look I get it (well kind of). This series has featured a slew of custom Glocks over the years so why should this one be any different? Well, I guess that would have to do with the price tag. With a price just shy of $3k it’s hard to see how a handgun like this makes sense unless this particular custom job speaks to you. Maybe that fanbase exists, or maybe I’m just looking at something that’s overpriced and outdone.

What do you think? Is this custom Day of the Dead-themed Glock 17 worth it for $2.8k or are you better off saving that Halloween money for another day? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.

What do you think? Is this 24k Custom Gold Glock a Hot Gat or Gaudy Awful Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Gold 24k Custom Glock 17 Gen 3 is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
