Recently Scandinavian Airguns changed its name to Scandinavian Arms, with the aim to offer premium shooting gear to airguns as well as normal firearms. In this move, they expanded beyond the airgun market and acquired the JET-01 firearms chassis system and accessories from Long Range Design (LRD Sweden).

Last year I reviewed the Concamo Ghosthood and some of the components in their Confusion Camouflage System. I was quite satisfied with the quality and performance of their products, and their camoflage which consists of 25 superimposed layers which create a “chaotic illusion”. They claim that the subconscious mind is overwhelmed by the camouflage pattern, and begins to discern natural shapes in it.

The IWA exhibition in Germany is usually where Pulsar release their thermal front attachments, and this year is no exception. There is a new flagship model called Krypton 2 FXG50 with a thermal sensor of 640×480 pixels @12 µm. According to Pulsar, this device can detect a standard 1.8 m tall object at an extra-long 2300-meter distance in complete darkness, which will be displayed on the full-HD multicolor 1920×1080 pixel screen.

Let’s head this off at the pass: There are not a lot of details about this short barrel shotgun, it may not make it to the United States, and even if it does, who knows how good it will be or if the price will be anywhere close to the $160-$180 it’s available for in other markets. However, there is absolutely no denying that this concept is amazing, and after all, James Reeves goes to these shows, not to judge, but to bring you content on intriguing designs, no matter how far-fetched they may be. TFBTV visits the Hunt Group booth to see this XRS semi-automatic folding 12 gauge shotgun, have some fun, and maybe dare some importers to bring this into the country. What a design!

Pulsar Vison releases a long list of new thermals at IWA Outdoors in Nuremberg, Germany. The Pulsar Telos LRF XP50 is the first model in the new Telos series, using a European-made Lynred sensor that features 640×480 pixel resolution with 17 microns pixel pitch. But, apart from the design, the coolest thing is the NETD thermal sensitivity below 18 millikelvin, which is the lowest I’ve ever seen on a commercial device. The lower the value, the better the sensitivity.

It is the annual tradition of the Krieghoff company to produce one of their guns as a particularly
artistic masterpiece and to present it to the world as “ Gun of the Year“. “For us, it’s primarily about showing the skills and passion of our craftsmen and also what manual work is able to achieve.” Mr. Krieghoff himself explained the meaning behind this project. “It represents the opportunity to work without the normal limitations that artists usually have. The engraving alone takes months, but the stock and barrel also require great skill.”

As it is known, Anschütz completely scooped gold at the Olympics this year; all gold medals
in biathlon were won with weapons from the company. A performance that caused quite a stir
and led to a closer look at the guns used. Although with a market share of 97%, this result is
more expected than miraculous.

When you hear about revolvers from Germany these days, you probably think of high-end,
luxury guns. Carefully crafted marvels of engineering and workmanship. Magnificent showpieces with appropriate price tags. But this was not always the case. A long time ago, when the machine gun register was still open, and you could still order guns in the mail order catalog (on both sides of the pond), things were different. Extremely cheap revolvers were made in Germany, usually from Zamak, and then exported to the USA to make a Saturday night truly special. But those times are long gone. All the cheap German producers have disappeared, …all but one. Hermann Weihrauch Revolver GmbH still produces inexpensive pistols, much like those made in Hermann’s grandfather’s time and shows that inexpensive is not the same as cheap.

Revo Arms, from Italy, is a new player in the firearm manufacturing world, and in IWA they debuted their first product: the IS-9 striker-fired pistol. The polymer-framed handgun offers a good deal of desirable features and it follows the European trend of targeting a low bore axis for improved muzzle rise control.

It’s here where you’ll find fully automatic firearms and similar “items”. Compared to IWA, it is a much smaller exhibition, and much more specialized.
