Breaking: DC Carry Ban Ends?

The Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit just issued a ruling that may have a profound effect on carry laws in America. A prior ruling in another court held that the District of Columbia has the authority to enact a general ban on the carry of arms within the District because there were exceptions allowed for people with a substantial need. But today’s ruling is contrary to that earlier opinion. Today’s ruling affirms the right of individuals to bear arms and that social circumstances cannot be required to exercise that right.

The new bill would overwrite the 2016 NDAA, which allowed for the release of 10,000 of the pistols, but did not mandate it. The text of Section 1064 of the 2018 NDAA is as follows:

POTD: Wolf to import 9x39mm ammo into the US

Steve Dittner of Wolf Performance ammo had this in his pocket at the NRA Show in Atlanta last April. Unfortunately he did not have it on him when I found out about it and missed out on seeing it the last day at NRA. Steve sent this single round to me. Wolf Performance Ammo will be importing 9x39mm. Most of the 9x39mm rounds are armor piercing and not legal for importation into the U.S. There isn’t a lot of information about Wolf’s version of 9x39mm but I was told it will be a FMJ lead projectile. No information on grain weight but hopefully they stick to the original design which is a sub sonic round with a decent amount of mass in the projectile.

Dorsey’s comments, excerpted below, express dissatisfaction with the Army’s selection process:

DEREGULATION OF SUPPRESSORS: New "SHUSH" Act Introduced to House and Senate

Could the complete deregulation of silencers (also called “suppressors”) be near? That’s the goal of a new bill introduced simultaneously to the House and Senate, which seeks to invalidate the provisions pertaining to silencers of the National Firearms Act, entirely. The bill, called the SHUSH (Silencers Help Us Save Hearing) Act, would nullify the NFA’s requirements for silencer registration via two modifications: First, by making anyone seeking to purchase a silencer (who is otherwise acting within the law) automatically meet the NFA’s requirements; and second, by invalidating all state regulations regarding silencers. Further, these changes would retroactively apply to all silencer transfers more recent than October 22, 2015.

NEWS ALERT: Federal Judge Rejects California Mag Ban

I am going to keep this short and sweet – a federal judge has rejected a California law that was set to take effect to ban the ownership and possession of firearm magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez said that people should be able to use firearms with “whatever common magazine size he or she judges best suits the situation”. A testimony to individual liberty I personally find refreshing.

BREAKING: US Banned VEPR Due To Sanctions? Looks Like It!

The US Department Of Treasury released an update to the sanction list in connection to the Russian – Ukranian conflict today and it appears that as a result of the change to sanctions the US has banned VEPR rifles and shotguns from further import. Well not really banned, but United States based businesses are prohibited from doing business with Molot-Oruzhie going forward. I imagine that any products that have been purchased already and are in the process of import will be available for purchase, but anything past that will become very scarce like the Saiga rifles and shotguns several years ago.

Ruger has just announced a safety recall for their new MKIV pistols. Apparently certain guns have been found to have the ability to fire when the safety is placed between the “safe” and “fire” positions and the trigger is pulled. The potential also exists for the gun to fire when the safety is moved from the mid positition to “fire” after pulling the trigger and not having a round discharge.
