Pistols of The Boondock Saints Movie
While being almost 25 years old, The Boondock Saints, a violent tale of two brothers cleansing their hometown streets of Boston is certainly a cult classic as it spawned too many sequels that did not live up to the quality of the first entry. Throughout the film, there are some great action sequences and a ton of pistols displayed on screen. Does anyone else think that the director of this movie always used the Akimbo perk in Modern Warfare 2?

Beretta 92FS
In The Boondock Saints movie, Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Murphy (Norman Reedus) McManus use pairs of suppressed Beretta 92FS pistols while dealing with various criminals. They also equip Rocco (David Della Rocco) with a pair of 92FS pistols when he joins their team.

Taurus PT92
In some scenes of The Boondock Saints, there is a continuity error where the MacManus brothers’ Beretta 92FS pistols are incorrectly depicted as Brazilian-made Taurus PT92AFs. These two firearm models are visually similar, but they can be distinguished by their safety features. The Beretta 92FS typically has a slide-mounted decocking safety, whereas the Taurus PT92AF features a frame-mounted slide stop safety.
This error likely occurred due to various factors, such as the availability of prop firearms and practical considerations for filming. In the world of filmmaking, it’s not uncommon for minor inaccuracies like these to occur, as filmmakers often prioritize the overall storytelling and visual impact over strict adherence to real-world details.
Glock 26
During the shootout scene in front of the house, there’s an interesting moment where Agent Paul Smecker, played by Willem Dafoe, fires his Glock 26 pistol into the air. This action is depicted in a way that a real FBI agent would never do, reflecting Smecker’s unique character traits and perhaps suggesting that this event might be occurring in his imagination rather than in reality. The fact that none of the other law enforcement officers appear startled could further support the idea that it’s a figment of Smecker’s imagination.
IMI Desert Eagle Mark VII
In The Boondock Saints movie, there are notable creative liberties taken with the firearms used by Ivan Checkov.
His weapon is portrayed as a distinctive custom piece, featuring a combination of chrome and blued finishes, gold-plated accents, and unique engravings, including a hammer and sickle below the bore and a red Soviet star on the slide. These design elements add a personalized and visually striking touch to his character’s firearm.
In a script or editing oversight, Agent Paul Smecker refers to the bullets found at the scene as “.50 caliber,” while both guns used in the movie are actually chambered in .44 Magnum. This represents a factual inaccuracy within the film.
Another view of the screen-used Desert Eagle Mark VII from the film; note the gold hammer and sickle on the front of the barrel, as well as the “.44” stamp, contrary to the movie dialogue which indicates that the gun is a .50-caliber.
Walther P5 Compact
Agent Paul Smecker, played by Willem Dafoe, uses a suppressed Walther P5 Compact while dressed in drag to eliminate threats in Papa Joe Yakavetta’s house, as he attempts to save the MacManus brothers. This Walther P5 Compact is visually distinctive, featuring gold-plated components. It’s interesting to note that this specific firearm shares a connection with Claire Danes’ use of it in the film “Romeo + Juliet,” albeit without the ivory grips seen in that film. Furthermore, the same firearm configuration was employed in the final episode of the TV series “Once A Thief.”
Colt Python
In The Boondock Saints, Rocco, portrayed by David Della Rocco, is depicted as carrying a snub-nosed Colt Python with a stainless finish. Notably, he uses this firearm to kill three men in a diner. However, there is a debate among some viewers who believe that Rocco might actually be using a Colt Diamondback instead of a Python. This speculation arises from Detective Greenley’s claim that they recovered .38 slugs at the crime scene.

Smith & Wesson Model 686 Snub
Il Duce played by Billy Connolly wields a Smith & Wesson Model 686 with a 3″ barrel as one of his six guns during the shootout outside the house. Chappy played by Kevin Chapman, a thug in Papa Joe Yakavetta’s house is also seen using one.
