HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Classic Aesthetic or Hopelessly Pathetic?

Welcome everyone to the 205th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – Is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, by a very thin margin decided the custom Aero SOLUS was fudd crap.

At this time the original auction has ended with no bids on the rifle. However, the item has been relisted and we can only hope that this rifle will find its way to a new home very shortly.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at an AR-15 pattern pistol caliber carbine chambered in 9mm. As is tradition, this Colt magazine-equipped gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $785 Starting Bid with No Reserve.

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

“When your stepfather with a mullet says, ‘We have a PCC already at home,’ while he finishes purchasing his Marlboros, scratch-offs, and Colt 45 Malt liquor from the gas station” – Adam S.

Man, it must be huge, it makes that flag look tiny. – Matt M.

“Parts builds look bad enough when you use GOOD parts, this thing is a horriffic kitbash” – Hop

“The handguard is studded for they/them’s pleasure.” – Will P.

“Hot enough for a secret range session in the woods that you tell your friends about, but may not show them any pics. Except for that one dude who has a fetish for this type of stuff.” – Pete

HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Classic Aesthetic or Hopelessly Pathetic?

When it comes to PCCs that just look cool, it’s hard to argue with the classic straight Colt magazine aesthetic. In this day and age, there are countless PCC options to choose from with plenty of different magazine choices. With new options like the SIG MPX and CZ Scorpion, it’s easy to overlook some of the more interesting options from the past. Now granted parts are harder to find, but there is a certain cool factor to guns like this.

This gun looks like Sten and a Lewis Gun had a suppressed child. Because of that, the more I look at it the more interesting and intriguing it becomes. Now I’d rather not have to source magazines for this, and it’s not the most accessory-ready firearm. Still, that suppressor tucked under the shroud look is a pretty cool look. But it’s a shame the suppressor isn’t included. That however is an easy fix for whoever decides to buy this rifle.

What do you think? Is this little custom PCC worth it for the price? Or would you rather have something a little more modern? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.

Never liked the Hogue Overmolded handguards and also don't like the choices on the controls, but overall this would have a been a true HG back in the day and you can never go wrong with the straight Colt/Uzi style 9mm mags.
